Chapter 30: Wolves at the Door

Rakesh sat on the couch, flipping through one of Josie’s books from a random shelf. At first, he didn’t feel comfortable doing so, but curiosity had gotten the better of him and he decided that a little light reading wouldn’t do any severe harm. He was surprised, and also a little disheartened that the book was mainly filled with remedies and other light work.

“Nothing to turn anyone into a frog.” Rakesh chuckled to himself. “Well, that’s no fun.”

A sudden knock at the door stole his attention away. He frowned slightly at being taken away from his fun, but his nerves weren’t helping either. All the same, he managed to remain calm enough to open the door. There stood a mousy woman with vibrant blue hair. She was a full head and a half shorter than he was and looked at him as if he was going to pounce at any moment.

“I-I-I’m sorry,” she stammered, “I thought th-that this was–”
