Chapter 2: Disappointment

"With the first pick in the 2021 NBA draft the Detroit Pistons select…. Actually we have a trade to announce, The Orlando Magic send the 1st Pick to Washington for Rui Hachimura, Deni Avdija, a future first, and the 9th Pick. With the first pick in the 2021 Nba draft the Washington Wizards select, Aaron Lee from Duke." The consensus number one pick Aaron Lee then begins to walk to the stage and puts on a Wizards hat. "With the second pick in the Nba Draft, The Houston Rockets Select, Brady Haynes from Gonzaga." The 6'4 Shooting Guard out of Gonzaga was considered a bit of a reach at this spot but the Rockets needed a two guard. "With the Third Pick in the Nba Draft the Orlando Magic Select, Malachi Crowder from Murray State." Malachi Crowder is a combo guard who put up spectacular numbers at Murray State but didn't get far in the March Madness tournament. "With the 4th pick in 2021 Nba Draft, The New York Knicks select, Max Fisher from Kentucky." Max Fisher is widely regarded as the best big man in the entire draft, his size and athleticism are amazing and he averaged over 4 blocks per game in college. "With the 5th pick in the 2021 Nba draft, the Orlando Magic select, Jamison Ward from Fresno State." A 6'8 all around player who played every position at least once during College. "With the 6th pick in the Nba draft, the Toronto Raptors select, Will Crisp from UCLA." A 7'2 center who averaged 25 points in college off of pick and rolls alone. "With the 8th pick in the 2021 Nba draft, the Toronto Raptors select, Jaylen Duel from UCLA." The 6'5 sharpshooter who handled the ball in pick and rolls with Will Crisp. A couple more notable players that went in the later 1st round were David D. Roberts, a highly athletic 6'1 slasher from the G league that was selected by the Utah Jazz, and Marcus R. Smallwood, a 6'11 defensive force from Syracuse that was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers. However pick by pick and prospect by prospect Chase Farris stood undrafted for the entire draft. As it ended Chase Farris was still seated at his table and a tear fell down his face. "Aaron Lee you are the number one pick of the Nba draft this year, so who out of this draft class did you have the most trouble with in the past?" A reporter asks Aaron Lee. Aaron Lee thinks for a little and then responds. "Chase Farris, an undrafted guy. Man is Ice cold in clutch moments, he single handedly beat my team in high school by dropping 75 on us with the game winning buzzer beater. He is better every time he touches the rock man." The reporter laughs at first and then she asks, "enough with the jokes who really gave you the most trouble?" "I'm not joking that man is one of the best rookies in this draft." Aaron says. Then the reporters look at him skeptically and walks out of the stadium behind a tall kid in a jacket with the hood on over his face.
