[Five-Legged Red Queen – has blood that is corrosive. Getting the blood on your body will do 14 damage per second if it makes skin contact.]
<<Your seven captured soldiers have been fully healed, and have now entered into your command.>>
"Good, because we're going to need all the help we can get." Erick watched the Five-Legged Req Queen traveling towards him at break neck speed. It covered over 300 meters in less than 30 seconds.
Erick knew his only chance was to rely on his soldiers. He only had 150 Health remaining and 15 magic points. However, at a time like this, a mage would've also been excellent to have on his team, or even better, a cleric.
<<Five-Legged Red Queen has entered into range of archers. Your new archers knows a basic magic attack <flame arrow>. It is recommended to use magic instead of normal physical attacks>>
"See that!" Erick jostled out his sword, clicking and dragging in his mind the seven soldiers that just appeared on the field. Clicking on the <flame arrow> attack for each of those seven soldiers, he watched as the Five-Legged Red Queen easily dodged all but two of the attacks.
<<Ding!>>
<<Five-Legged Red Queen has entered into a burned state!>>
<<All flame attacks will do 15 percent more damage.. wind attacks will keep the ailment activated.>>
"You didn't have to say that twice!" Erick watched as the giant Five-Legged Red Queen ran up to him with large, powerful strides. It seemed like a normal spider except it seemed to have some sort of body sewn into its torso.
When it reached up to attack him, he finally saw the face of the figure on its body.
It appeared to be a girl, probably no older than him. Her clothes were tattered and she was sown into the stomach of the creature. Blood was coming out of her eyes as if she was still suffering, and it extremely bolstered Erick's anger.
He dodged with a jump to the side and sent out a <Wind Scythe>. The blade immediately clashed into the body causing it to lose 70 HP.
With all the attacks combined from the seven soldiers, the <Five-Legged Red Queen> seemed completely overmatched. Unlike most other serfs who just gained lord status, he'd already gained seven new strong allies with magical attacks.
To teach your recruits magical attacks, you had to first establish an academy at level 5. The Hordes were most likely programed on the basis of what would be the hardest for the serfs in question to handle.
Erick only needed to send out 5 more <Wind Scythes> before the body of the spider screamed and dropped down. It landed flat on its back, with the lady still crying on its chest.
<<You've defeated the Five-Legged Red Queen and have gained 800 experience>>
<<Your troops respect has increased by 10 points for dealing with the difficult situation! 300 wood. 1000 food, 2000 gold and have been acquired!>>
"What about the girl? Is she okay? It's kind of odd the monster died but she's still breathing?" Erick bent down and put his hands against the lady's face. "She's so pretty too… what happened to her system?"
<<She's was a symbiote of the Red Queen. Her body was being used for magic points and had yet to be fully devoured. She's most likely from a nearby kingdom.>>
<<If you cut her out of the body, there is a chance she'll still survive. However, it is not recommended to take a risk with a symbiote of the Horde. Life span after being infected is two – four weeks>>
"I'll give her a chance at life. I'd want the same… wouldn't you… I mean… if you cared I'm sure this would make more sense…"
Erick sighed and leaned over telling his soldiers to help cut her out. A green goop covered her body as Erick pulled her out of the spider's intestinal area. There were organs falling out of it as the girl was dropped on the floor. Cleaning off her face, Erick threw her over his shoulder as he looked out on the battlefield.
Hundreds upon hundreds of slowly decomposing bodies were being turned into dust by the world's strange game like atmosphere. In less than an hour, there would be no more <Five-Legged Spiders> on his parcel of land.
Nonetheless, he worriedly placed the girl in a bed, and gave her a wash cloth and left a cup of water by her bed.
The death tole was nearly 12 soldiers after the battle with the Red Queen.
The bodies had to be burned quickly before they lost their chance to give the soldiers a proper burial. Overall, the air had turned melancholy, however, his soldiers were looking at him with more pride.
"Who is this Knight of Teesta and how dare he attack me during a Horde's invasion1 When can I do the same thing to him?"
<<Location of Knight of Teesta is unknown. However, he's obviously part of the Velvet Militia. When you level up to level 10, his location will be easier to find.>>
"Level 10… load stats," Erick sat down next to a bonfire of burning soldiers, kicking a few rocks as the soldiers sang a song.
"When they go to heaven, may they get their fill! Every girl… in the world… may they have her too! Make them angels… make them divine… make them lose their minds… from the pleasure of the world… of beyond!"
Erick smiled at the song before his stats appeared. He just needed 100 more experience to reach level 5.
[Erick Brighton (Serf Lord)]
Level 4
Exp 1200 / 1300
Health 700 / 700
Attack: 30(+ 15)
Defense: 20 (+30)
Speed: 55
Magic Attack: 60
Magic Defense: 30 (+20)
Diagnosis: Making progress.. Not enough to count as anyone special, but at least you're not lying in the dirt.
"So… pretty much… I'm useless until I get to level 10 right… Is that the only way to become a Knight?"
<<Ding!>>
<<the easiest way to become a knight is by being knighted by the king… Normally, you'd have to level up to level 15 to become a knight. However, with obvious conjecture, it's clear Teesta has a large backer.>>
"So… the kingdom I chose happens to be the wrong one… Oh well at least I survived… How long do you think until Teesta returns with enough anger to try and burn down the village?"
<<… unable to calculate…>>
"Of course, well, I do have my seven singers over here…"
…
Erick gathered his seven soldiers inside of the stable.
Pepper had already began cooking dinner and was planning their 'fourth date'. Gwen had gotten to work on sewing some material out of spider silk.
He'd received roughly 3000 yards of spider silk just an hour go after the spiders began disappearing into the atmosphere.
Regardless, the seven soldiers in front of him looked especially eager to hear what he had to say. One of them in particular, Patrick, had a knack at never shutting up. Erick figured he'd be the best person to start with.
"So… guys… your old boss… the Knight of Teesta. If I went to attack him right now with my 30 soldiers, what is the most damage I could do to him?"
"No question, you'd die in a second. It'd be the dumbest thing you ever did, Erick. I'd just leave him alone or let us give him a fake version of your head!"
"Does he have any enemies?"
"None besides you that he hasn't killed!" Patrick looked bored as the interview continued, "Now, come on and ask me the juicy questions! I'll even tell you who his favorite wife is! He has a ton of them, yah know?"
"…Are any of them… well… do any of them not like him?" Erick tossed ideas around in his head. "Like… would one of them be fine betraying him?"
"He's pretty bad to his wives. I'm sure if you gave one of them poison and promised her his estate, she'd go ahead and do it for you! However, then you'd also have to kill his troops… Better you just give up on it before you get yourself killed."
"I don't know if that be the smartest thing. Leaving a guy out there who wanted to kill me in order to steal my wives doesn't sit right with me."
"Well, you're being to innocent! This is a world of dominance! If you want to get power, you should be like Teesta! Kill some of your nearby villages, and let us ransack some houses! The Velvet Militia will even reward you if you take out Crag Kingdom's men or Fernet's Alliance serfs and peasants!"
"I might have to take you up on your offer… I guess I'll go spend the night with Pepper… she wants tonight to be our fourth date!"
"Well then… you better not keep her awaiting!" Patrick laughed, slogging down some liquor as they started stomping their feet in the stable. "Do her till she can't say your name anymore! See you tomorrow boss!"
"I don't think we're ready for that!" Erick laughed, walking out of the stable and heading towards his home. Along the way, he noticed the girl who got pinwheeled over by her own dad's dead body.
She was on her knees crying and bowing in front of the place he died.
The atmosphere seemed especially solemn, and Erick patted her on the shoulder before she turned around and smiled.
"It's okay… He knew that he'd have to die someday… We grow up fast here, and only live if we level up… At least he had mom before she died."
"I'm so sorry… I just got here today… I'm still not familiar with… whatever this place is… If you ever need me, just come knock on my door, and we can talk… what's your name by the way?"
"I.. don't even want to remember it anymore? Can you just make up a name for me?"
"I can't do that… your dad would turn over in his grave hearing that I changed your name… What is it? Tell me quickly before the sunsets."
"Uhm, its… Kerry… I know it's a very mainly name, but… I'd like it if you called me that every once in a while. Please don't forget about me, okay Mr. Brighton?"
"Kerry… I'll take care of you… See you around tomorrow okay? Until then… I'll give you 100 gold so you can bury your father properly okay… This wood cross here doesn't fit a man who tried to protect his daughter…"
"Thank you!" Kerry started sniffling, tears falling down her face. "This would mean so much to him1 It'll increase the chances of a necromancer reviving him someday! …I… I'm so thankful for you Mr. Brighton!"
<<Ding!>>
<<Kerry's favorability towards you has increased to 50. Even if you wanted her to run around naked, she'd consider it.>>
"50! That's so fast!" Erick laughed, talking inside his head. "It's like if you give a girl a gold in this world, she'll be craving you for the next 10 years!"
<<it's because life span in World of Lorestan for non-Lords is on average 10 years. Maturity is reached at 5 years old, and at 10 they are equivalent to 21-year old adults.>>
"Ugh, not going to think about anything that complicated for quite a while!"
<<Ding!>>
<<Life in World of Lorestan is extremely complicated… it doesn't have to make sense..>>
<<You've also gotten a notice from a nearby Knight requesting your audience… He says he's not a fan of the Knight of Teesta!>>
