Chapter 16- Matchday...

The morning of the match came like a light and welcome breeze, the perfect culmination to the first week of June, and to top it off, Liverpool lost their game with City and were stuck with 68 points, while we were at 64, if we won against Luton, we'd get even closer to them.

The theatre of dreams was quiet as we grouped to get on the team bus, and it was a good thing we left early because the bus didn't even fit in Luton Town's stadium, Kenilworth Road Stadium. It housed only a few, and if you kicked too hard, the ball might go into someone's garden, it was a pathetic little pitch, and that guiltily, made the team feel much superior.

We ran onto the pitch for the pre-match warm-up and this time I decided to do some shooting, I practiced, free kicks and then did some laps and dribbling courses to get my head in the game...

When we returned to the locker room, we didn't spend much time dilly-dallying, instead, we were all of one mindset, a landslide victory here, would be very useful if we ever went against Liverpool on tied points, we could surpass them on goal difference, and this drove us, and we looked intense as the referee put the ball in the center and blew the whistle, Adebayo and Woodrow held possession for Luton, for about 2 seconds before I ran up and intercepted the ball, charging down the center.

I rouletted past two midfielders who I vaguely remembered as Doughty and Thorpe, they were left in the dust, and I noticed the defenders making a block, too easy, they didn't even try to defend me, I smashed the ball...

Over the center backs, Lockyer and Burke curling inwards past the reaches of the Belgian keeper Kaminski and into the net, I didn't even celebrate, I high-fived my teammates, the occasional hug but I instantly walked back, looking at the sorrowful faces of the Luton team...

<*This isn't even worth writing about*>

Man Utd-10:3-Luton

It was a premier league record victory, ten goals in a match, embarrassing...

It was so dead, that no one even celebrated, we all just smiled and left the stadium, the mood was desperately boring, our training matches at Old Trafford were more fun than this, Fuck! They were like a lamb to a slaughter... Oh well, at least we got the points...
