Chapter 27: The story behind it all

"I quickly found a place to hide to treat her injuries.

"I treated her with all of the medicine in my arsenal. After a few months, she woke up."

"During those few months, the demon race was searching everywhere for her. I had no choice but to move to somewhere else from time to time."

"Giving her up was not an option! The Demon Race are an obnoxious bunch! I was sure to die if they knew that I was the one who took their princess away from them."

"Princess?" Wang Tian said.

"Yes, your mother is the princess of the Demon Race."

Wang Tian was shocked by what Wang Gui said. But he didn't continue to ask and instead decided to hear the story of his parents.

"When your mother woke up, her body was still weak."

"When she saw me, she growled and then attacked me even when she was injured."

"Fortunately for me, I was much stronger than her."

"I explained to her the situation but she didn't want to hear me out."

"I told her that once she recovered, she could leave. She could do what she wanted, if she willed it, she could even report me to her family. I wouldn't resist."

"I fell more for your mother during those few months."

"After I knew that she doesn't want to interact with me, my heart was broken. I decided to just leave her with the medicine day by day and let her take care of herself."

"I would always leave the medicine right before she wakes up."

"This continued for a few more months until one day, when I went to you mother's room to give her medicine. She was gone."

"She left without even saying goodbye."

"But who am I for a princess to say goodbye to? I only helped her recover"

"I spent years after that incident wondering the world until i eventually decided to settle down and go back to the Wang Clan again."

Let's see how he reacts when I tell him that You've been flirting with a human on the battlefield! But really, I should thank you. You kept him busy for so long that I grasped an opportunity to stab him! Hahaha truly wonderful!"

"However, she did not respond. But her face became unsightly."

"Her brother removed the sword from my back, kicked me and sent me hurling towards the ground."

"After we escaped from the clutches of death, she treated my injuries and removed the poison from my body."

"I fell into unconsciousness."

"It was funny. Son back then, at that moment, I had a dream that your mother would leave me again without saying goodbye. But when I woke up, she was still there."

"Your mother tended to my injuries with the utmost of care."

"I fell for her even more."

"After I recovered, we spent our days with each other. We both had nowhere to go as my family hated the Demon Race while your mother betrayed it."

"We decided to travel the world since we were stuck with each other. Planet after planet we visited them. Even the small ones, we didn't spare them. We also visited many spatial rifts like the one that your master made. We shared pain and glory with each other. We weaved storms together. After spending a few years with each other, i felt something was off."

"Your mother was quiet all of a sudden. We were in space back then, standing at the endless black space. It was just the two of us, no other person."

"Your mother walked closer to me, tugged my hands and then... Told me she loves me!"

"Ha! She confessed son! She confessed!" Wang Gui said enthusiastically as if he was recalling the feeling of hearing his wife confess.

"I was the happiest man in the whole wide world! I even screamed at the stars. The whole space trembled because of my scream. Your mother smacked me in the head because of it but her face was beet red. That signalled that while she felt embarrassed, she was also very happy because of what I did."

"Starting then, we made a promise to spend the rest of our lives with each other. Protecting each other with all that we've got."

Wang Gui told the story bitterly but his tone always contained love and endless affection.

"What happened after that father?" Wang Tian asked. He was really shocked by the revelation. The love story of his parents were shocking to the core. Fighting wars? Getting stabbed with swords that have poison? In his past life, there was nothing of this sort except for the World War 1 and 2 that happened almost a hundred years ago.

'Wow, I didn't know that all of these things happened to my parents." Wang Tian thought to himself.

"That's as far as the story goes my son. I shall not tell you more since it's useless because you don't have sufficient strength. And your father is injured." Wang Gui said while looking at his son.

"Become stronger and I'll tell you the whole story! Your strength as of now isn't worth mentioning son! Even an ant in their eyes is much stronger than you!" Wang Gui said harshly but what he was speaking was reality. He wanted to knock the confidence of his son by a notch since he didn't want his son to become arrogant. He wanted Wang Tian to learn that there is a bigger mountain behind a mountain and a bigger one behind that mountain.

"Work Hard! And one day..." Wang Gui's eyes flashed with burning determination but the tone in his voice was filled with sorrow.

Wang Tian listened to the advice of his father and carved his words into his mind and heart.

However, his heart shook when he heard his father's injury.

"Father, did you say you were injured? Was your injury the one that you and Senior Dragon was talking about?" Wang Tian said.

"Yes son. I'm injured. Why do you ask?" Wang Gui looked at Wang Tian strangely.

"Father..." Wang Tian told him what was up.

"When I inherited Senior Tang's knowledge and experience, I also noticed that his knowledge was filled with Alchemy. Everything related to alchemy. Everything he knew about alchemy." Wang Tian said. He said the last two sentences slowly.

His father's eyes flashed with shock and then he said, "Son! Senior Void Sovereign was a renowned Alchemist! He was known across the whole space!"

"Yes father, I know. Perhaps I can use the knowledge that I gained from him to heal your injuries! After all, I inherited everything including his experiences. All I need now is a bit of practice and I could instantly reach the level that he was at! Well, maybe not totally the level he was at since my cultivation base is as you said, very low." Wang Tian said to his father.

Wang Gui's eyes flickered with hope and then he let out a hearty laugh.

He hugged Wang Tian and said, "Well done boy! I will hope that you can find a solution!"

Seeing that his father was happy, Wang Tian vowed to himself, 'Father, I swear that I will find a way to heal your injury and let you reach your peak state. Perhaps make you improve!'.

The father and son went inside the house and slept. The night ended just like that.
