Chapter 5

Mei was already back at the hospital, afraid that her brother will try and look for her and would make him worry.

"Sis, I'm already fine. Can't I go home yet?" Freddie asked.

She looked at her brother lovingly and she was overwhelmed with sadness. How could this innocent and kind human being suffer so much? she thought.

"We will go home but only until the doctor says so. You know I don't like to compromise your health. That's why I need you to hurry up and get well, okay?" Mei said as she lovingly patted his brother's head.

"Stop that, I'm not a kid anymore," he said after pushing his sister's hand away from his head.

Seeing how vibrant and energetic his brother was, comforted her a little. She kept glancing at her phone that was placed on the table.

"Are you expecting someone to call sis?" her brother asked.

"Nope. Continue eating that apple, okay? Because they said 'an apple a day, keeps the doctor away'" she smiled as her brother nodded.

She turned towards the door as a nurse entered their room.

"Miss Mei, someone would like to have a word with you in the next room. Don't worry. I'll take care of your brother for you while you're gone"

She turned towards her brother and gently touched his face.

"Sister will be back. Be sure to finish those apples," Mei said and left with her phone.

She entered the room that the nurse mentioned. Inside, 2 men were there. One was standing beside the window, staring outside while the other was just standing beside the man.

"Are you the one that contacted me?" she asked before deciding to sit down in an empty seat.

Her heart was about to break into pieces when she noticed his dark, cold gaze.

She silently wept as she realized that the man that once adored her, showered her with love has completely forgotten her.
