Cassius White "The Shaman"

What does survival mean? Is it the ability to thrive in a given environment? Or the ability to adapt to any environment? To build the best tools and methodologies? To get nature to work for you? No, survival is the ability to work harder against an obstacle until you succeed. This is the idea behind Cassius White.

He was decently built, with short gray hair, and a scraggly gray beard. He didn't wear a shirt, pants, shoes, or any article of traditional clothing. He instead wore the pelt of some furry animal around his waist. His skin was a leathery brown, tanned by many years in the naked sun. Across his left pectoral muscle was the picture of a great white shark.

The man was currently crouched over the body of a large deer, his right arm buried up to the elbow in its partially ripped open rib cage. He rummaged around inside of it before giving out a grunt of effort and ripping out its heart. He held it aloft over his head, letting the fleshy blood pump glisten and shine in the noonday sun. He smiled a manic smile, he was excited.

He crushed the heart in his grip, making the blood spray everywhere. He then lowered it to the earth, and buried it in a shallow hole he'd dug. "Rest quietly my friend, I have taken your strength and will use it for great things." The man said this quietly, the wind plucking the sound from his lips.

The shaman-like figure rose from his crouch, hefting the body of the deer onto his shoulders. He shifted it until he could hold it with one hand. Raising his head to the wind, he inhaled deeply, letting the smells almost overwhelm him.

His eyes widened as a familiar scent came to him. He turned until he faced his newest opponent and grimaced when he saw how close it had gotten. The large figure of a Kodiak bear loomed in front of him, it's shaggy fur barely concealing rippling muscle. Cassius growled in frustration as he lowered the corpse of the deer back down and stared down the predator.

It was a large predator, standing six feet tall at the shoulder. The beast had many scars across its face and maw. White fur touching the sunlight gave it the appearance of glowing. A low growl brimmed at the back of its meaty throat.

The man lowered himself into a low stance similar to a wrestler's. His body pulsed with an unseen strength that seemed to make him larger in the bear's mind. His neck bulged with power as he roared a primal and savage scream.

The bear, startled by the noise, charged forward like a freight train. It opened its massive maw and lunged with a powerful bite. It was met by a fist to the underside of its jaw. It was forced to look upwards, the momentum from the punch actually pushing it onto its rear legs.

Another savage yell was heard as a flurry of activity took place. The bear was batting and slashing at the man with its large paws, opening up large gashes and gouges. The man on the other hand was wailing away on the midsection of the mighty beast with a flurry of powerful punches. This battle of blows only lasted for three seconds, but it seemed to last an eternity.

Finally, the beast was forced to drop from its two legged position, bearing most of its weight on the man's shoulders and back. It let out a groan of pain as the pain of it's shattered ribs flooded over it.

It finally toppled to the forest floor when the man forcibly ripped its legs out from under it, sending it onto its back. He straddled the bears shoulder and neck region, and raised two bloodied fists above his head.

The sound of beastial rage was accompanied by the sound of shattering bone. The man raised his hands in victory and let out one last scream. "UNNAMED IN LIFE, NAMED IN DEATH. HU-WA-HI-RA!" the man belted this chant several times before plunging his hands into the bears ribs.

This is Cassius White, "the Shaman".
