Meeting Hellfire

Sweat poured off of Garrick's face like a waterfall. He'd never faced such a powerful foe. His whole team was beaten and bloodied, and it looked like this was the end of the line for them. Still, he smiled.

"Good job team! We've held off him long enough!"

Suddenly two figures landed, one donned blue and white with a Halo on his head, and the other black and burn orange, with Devil horns popping out his head. They stared into their foes menacing red eyes, ready to enact their revenge! Garrick motioned for his team to follow him.

"Let's get out of here! Now that those two showed up, we're safe!"

The two of them rushed their foe, who gladly met them halfway, shattering the earth as they clashed explosively…

--3 years earlier…

The alarm on his phone blared loudly. Mark rolled over in bed, burying his face in the pillow.

"I don't wanna go to class, you can't make me Leo."

He mumbled lethargically when he heard his door slam open.

"It's Summer Break!!! Get up Mark, lets play some Mortal Combat!!!"

Mark rolled back over, sitting up in his bed.

"Is that all you think about Adrian? You still have your pajamas on!"

"So, you got yours on too Mark, now let's go!!!"

Mark frowned as Adrian dragged him to the living room. At Kane University, every student was part of a Faction, and every Faction stayed in their own mini mansion. Mark and Adrian were lucky enough to be part of the strongest Faction in school, the Legend Faction. They'd just finished their first year at Kane, and had the whole summer to relax, or so they thought.

"It's quiet today, where's everyone else Adrian?"

"Eh I don't care, the new Mortal Combat just finished downloading!!! Let's play!!!"

Just as Adrian turned on his GS5 they heard footsteps behind them and froze, turning slowly.

"We've got a mission! You two are helping, so suit up!"

"But…"

"No buts Adrian, shut up and suit up! NOW!!!"

They both groaned as they waltzed back to their rooms. Every Faction has an alumni leader, and theirs was the strongest. And the scariest. Leo Legend, known as The Divine, was feared all across Achilles, and even people on Earth knew his name, worshiping him like a god! They met him in front of the house, decked out in their superhero outfits.

Mark, better known as Hellfire, wore black with a burnt orange cape, gloves, boots, and accents, matching his hair. He kept a low hair with well-groomed waves and a part on the side of his hair. He was short, dark skin, and had a lean, ripped body. His eyes were a menacing yellow, making his face the evil type of handsome. He also kept a sword on his back and was very skilled in using it! Adrian, or The Archangel wore black pants and a long black shirt with a white and blue vest that was tipped a bit at the shoulders. He was tall and thin and sported a black afro. He was the color of caramel and almost always wore a constant smile on his face. He had white and blue gloves and boots and a white cape!

Leo wore a purple suit with golden gloves, boots, and a golden cape. He didn't even say anything he just took off and they followed. Flames burst at Mark's feet at he took off at top speed! Adrian sighed and a Halo appeared over his head. He took off after them looking back at the house.

"I'll be back, Mortal Combat!!!"

"Get it in to gear dumbass we can play when we get back!"

"Alright Mark, alright, let's catch up then!"

As they caught up, Leo began briefing them.

"We're going to pick up our first, and maybe only first year. Garrick had a mission earlier and texted me that the Oni are bad out, and packs of red Oni normally mean..."

Hellfire and Archangel froze. Leo continued.

"If that happens, you two are to take the newbie and run! In your base forms, you're too weak. And you Evolved forms are too unstable. Do not unleash those, no matter what, either team up or wait for Garrick!"

They both nodded. They hated to admit but they still had limits to their power.

--a few miles away

"THAT'S SO COOL!!!"

"Um, thanks."

Adrianna smiled shyly. She was a tall, light skinned girl with long, purple hair, and matching eyes. Her friend loved superheroes and was excited when she heard Adrianna was going to Kane U.

"Hey what if you meet Hellfire?"

"I mean, there's like thirty factions, my chances are slim. But it would be nice!"

Adrianna blushed, when sudden they heard rumbling and screaming. Adrianna hands began to pink glow as she prepared to try to hold off the hoard of red Oni. Just as they got close…

BOOM!!!!

The Divine, Hellfire, and the Archangel landed right in front of them. Their jaws dropped. The Archangel turned and smiled!

"Worry not, we'll protect you!!!"

They both frowned. Hellfire punched him in the head, and he turned around to see thousands of burnt Oni ash piles lining the street. Archangel's eyes were so wide they almost fell off his face.

"You two didn't leave me any at all guys!!!"

"Hey, you snooze you lose!"

The Divine looked around, and Hellfire's ear twitched. They looked at each other and nodded then The Divine took to the skies hurriedly. Hellfire spoke.

"You! I sense power coming from you, come! Archangel, take her friend home and then catch up with us!"

"Is it?!"

"Yep! Blue Oni. I'll need you help if any more show up so hurry!!!"

They both grabbed the girls and took to the skies, wasting no time. Adrianna clung to Hellfire's neck shivering. She couldn't believe her hero was holding her in his arms, just like when he saved her from before…

"What's your name?!"

"I-I-I'm Adrianna!"

"Mark! Nice to meet you! Hold on tight, I think I hear something up ahead!"

"N-nice to meet you too!"

Hellfire smiled and sped up, trying to avoid trouble at all costs.

"No sense in speeding up now…"

Hellfire flew from the sky. He'd never felt a punch so strong.

"I've already caught up!!!"

Hellfire sneered.

"Damn! Here step back Adrianna, we're going to need some space!!!"
