Chapter 5

"Hey! What are you—"

I never got the chance to finish my sentence. My body was suddenly enveloped in an intense pain, like someone poured hot water into my skin. I tried to scream, but no sound came out. My eyes were open, and all I could see was darkness.

I writhed on the ground, my body twisting and contorting as the pain tore through me. My heart was racing, and I could feel my muscles spasming. I tried to call out for help, but the only sound that came from my lips was a strangled gurgle, strange rune began to float around me burrowing in my body.

And then, as quickly as it had come, the pain was gone. My body went limp, and I collapsed onto the ground, gasping for breath. I could feel the blood rushing through my veins, and my heart was pounding in my chest.

The pain was gone, but the terror was still there, gripping me like a vice.

'My name is 'Jeanna Winters' just a normal human girl. What is happening to me?'

After I caught my breath, I struggled to my feet. My legs were shaking, and the room was spinning around me. I looked around, trying to figure out what had just happened, but all I could see were shadows and darkness, when slowly my vision became clear.

"What was that?" I asked, my voice trembling.

The woman didn't answer. She was standing in front of me, her head bowed.

"What the hell just happened?" I asked again, my voice rising.

The woman remained silent.

"Answer me!" I shouted.

"That was the master's power," Rhea replied, her voice barely more than a whisper.

"You've been blessed with a great gift."

I took a step back, shaking my head. "I don't understand."

The woman lifted her head, and I could see the light from the hole in the ceiling reflected in her eyes.

"You've been given the power of a dragon," she said.

I stared at her, trying to comprehend what she'd just said. "A dragon?"

The woman nodded. "Yes. You've been blessed with the ability to take the form of a dragon."

"I... I don't understand."

Rhea sighed. "Look at yourself."

I glanced down at my body. It was still my own, but it had changed. My skin had a faint, golden tint to it, and my hair was longer and shinier than before. My nails had grown, my fingers had become more slender, I feel a strange power flowing through my veins, and I can see more clearly now in the dark.
