RUBY ROSE POV

"Bye Dad!" She said, forcing the cheer into her voice.

It was unlikely that she would die in this fight. Especially with Jaune's 'Warranty Plan'. But if something went wrong and she didn't return then she wanted her father to remember her as someone who smiled often and was happy with her life.

"Bye, dear." He said as he rubbed her back before pulling Yang in a hug "Be safe out there okay. I know you plan to camp on the safer side of the forest but still. Be careful."

"We will be dad!" she said with a smile and turned, her smile quickly falling away to be replaced by sadness for lying to her dad and then grim determination for what she was about to do.

Once they were out of their father's line of sight, she looked around to make sure that no one was looking before she put her hand on a tree and opened a small portal.

It was unlikely that anyone would notice the portal because of its strange properties but it doesn't hurt to be cautious.

She entered the portal and saw Jaune and the others waiting at the clearing.

In front of them were three different screens. Each connected to their company device and the front view of a Bullhead flying over the sea.

She walked over to Jaune and gave him a hug before she sat beside him.

She looked at Pyrrha and asked, "That's Neo, Raven, and Maria?"

Pyrrha nodded.

"I should have been there." She said in a small voice.

But Jaune still heard her thanks to his super hearing. "Neither you nor Pyrrha know how to fly a Bullhead Ruby. It can't be helped."

She nodded. "How long till they arrive at the Land of Darkness?"

It felt strange to call that continent the 'Land of Darkness'. It was a bit too edgy for her liking. But that's what Jaune called it and they didn't have any other name for it so that what she called it as well.

Jaune took out his scroll and looked at the Bounty Hunter app to see Salem's location.

"At the speed they're moving at, it shouldn't take them more than half an hour to get there." He said.

She looked at the screen and noticed that in Neo's case, the sun was coming from behind her. On the other screen, the sun was shining from the left while on the last screen, the sun was shining from the right.

This means that they were probably trying to enter the Continent from East, North, and South.

They sat in tense silence and a few minutes passed like that before her eyes narrowed.

"Is that land?" She asked.

"It is." The voice came from the Scroll attached to the screen.

Oh… so they were connected to each other via Video Call.

And here she had thought that Jaune probably bought yet another App from the Catalog or something.

The Voice belonged to Maria and judging by the angle of the sun, she was entering the continent from the South.

"Be careful Maria." Jaune said.

"I will." Maria replied and increased the speed of her Bullhead as she went closer and closer to the Land of Darkness.

Except… she could see something moving on the cliffs.

"Are those Nevermores?" Pyrrha asked and she turned to look at Jaune only to see him staring at the same screen with a serious countenance.

No one gave a reply to Pyrrha because a few seconds later, they were able to see it for themselves.

An enormous amount of Nevermores' nests dotted the cliff from horizon to horizon for as far as her eyes could see.

The Nevermores must have noticed Maria as well because they started to fly as well.

Hundreds, then thousands, and then tens of thousands Nevermores took to the air at once. And the sight terrified her.

Most of the Nevermores were small. Not even the size of Yang's bike. In fact. Most of them were barely the size of a basketball. But she could clearly see several larger Nevermores as well.

Some of them were larger than any Nevermore that she had ever seen in her life and a select few were almost as large as Jaune's Dragon body.

If all these Nevermores attack a city… then the city probably won't be wiped out but it'll still suffer a lot of damage.

And this was undoubtedly only a small part of Grimm under Salem's control.

Instead of slowing down, Maria increased the speed of Bullhead and changed the direction of her Bullhead, trying to look for a place where she could slip through.

In the end, there was no free area. The whole sky was clouded with small and large Nevermores so she directed her Bullhead toward an area that was filled with small Juvenile Nevermores ranging from the size of Yang's bike to a large truck.

The Bullhead and the Group of Nevermore came closer and closer and she put her hand on Pyrrha thigh for support.

When at the last moment, it looked like the Bullhead was going to collide with hundreds of Nevermores, the screen suddenly went bright.

She flinched from the sudden brightness. Her heart hammered in her chest as she wondered if something went wrong.

The brightness remained for a few seconds before the screen went back to its normal view and she could see the Bullhead passing through the ash of the hundreds of Nevermores that were falling from the sky.

"What was that?" Milia asked, probably never having seen the Silver Eyes at use.

Silver Eyes that she held as well. But never used like this.

"That, my dear Miltia, was the power of the Silver eyes." Maria said through the video call.

The fact that Maria was able to simply turn all those Nevermores into ash with her Silver Eyes meant that her eyes must be pretty amazing. She wondered if she'll be able to do the same in their time of need.

"Be careful Maria. You're not safe yet." Jaune warned.

"What?" she asked in confusion.

Then Maria turned to look around, her camera turning with her and they saw tens of thousands of Nevermores giving chase to the Bullhead.

And the larger Nevermores were gaining on her rapidly.

"Well… Wish me luck." Maria said and the chase began.

On the other screen, Raven finally saw the Land of Darkness in the Horizon as well.

"Good luck to you as well Raven." Jaune said as they saw the mountains in the area filled with Griffon's nests.

This was… going to be hard.
