Chapter Twenty - Five

Emily got home, She saw a make figure in front of her house. She was very angry and marched angrily towards the person but stopped in her track when she saw someone else

"Ryan!!!.. Ryan!!.. Are you okay?" She ran towards him, touched his cheeks gently and looked at him from his head to toes. Trying to check if he's fine

Ryan remove her hands from his cheeks as he touched her instead on her cheeks gently

"My baby, am fine Emily.. All thanks to the almighty and for sending you to me" he said gently

"But why are you here this hour?" She asked curiously

"Well, i could not thank you for your patience and time.. so I'm sorry Emily, I'm just too busy with my mom's condition" Ryan replied, tugged harder to forget what his mother did.

"Ohhh Ryan!!.. I'm sorry I didn't ask about her wellbeing, how is she?"

Ryan looked at her weirdly before giving her a little smile imagining why his mother hate this sweet girl who only have good thought about someone

"Emily, can we go inside?.. we can talk inside right?or you object to that? I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable with me" He said softly

"Ryan, what are you saying?.. I'm always comfortable with you and yes you can come in" She replied and grab his hands slowly towards the front door. she opened her bag with the other hand and open the door. She signal him to enter before her, he entered with Emily and shut the door gently. he took his seat on the couch and rest his head feeling so frustrated

"Ryan, are you okay? you looked stressed" Emily asked

"I have a lot on my mind and I can focus for now.. please can you just give me time to process everything before I talk to you about it?" He replied softly, Emily nod and walked gently to her room to change her clothes. she worn her nightgown and cover her neck with a scarf. She came outside softly, saw Ryan still on the couch with his eyes closed. She moved closer to him and took a seat beside him

"Are you ready to talk about it ?" Emily asked slowly, Ryan shake his head negatively

"No Emily, I just need to rest my head and have a good night rest.. I had a long day" He said softly

"You look tense.. why wouldn't you tell me what happened? is it that bad?" She asked curiously

"Emily please.. don't question me again, I thought you quit journalist work but sadly you still emulate the traits inside of you.. anyways, I have nothing to tell you okay Emily? can we forget about it and juts talk about your day? how was your day?" He asked slowly

"Well I don't want to talk about my day with you too since you refused to tell me yours.. you can sleep here if you want or rather go home now before it's too late and I don't want you to drive in the night" She replied

"You are angry with me right?.. Emily come on, I seriously don't want to bother you with my problems.. You have enough on your table for me to add more to it, trust me please " Ryan said softly, cupped her face in his hands

"I was just worried about you and that's why I asked, I mean no harm Ryan trust me" She replied

"I trust you Emily, I really do trust you but you know we can't just disclose our matter with ourselves especially the ones that can scare them away and I just found you.. I can bear to lose again, do you understand?" Ryan said looking at her curiously

"I don't want to force this relationship on you Ryan, I only want the best for you and I understand if you don't want to tell me everything about you but i will wait patiently for that day" She replied

"Thank you, thank you so much Emily" He said with a smile

"Ryan I met someone today and he acted weird to me.. you need to see his actions and I'm sorry but he acted like he's desperate " She mocked calmly

"You think he likes you? and don't you think that's why he is acting weird like you said" He am teased jokily

"Stop!.. really stop!!.. that guy likes me and so he's acting weird just to get my attention.. He went overboard to wait for me and my friend" She said

"Your friend? I thought I'm the only one you have Emily so who's this friend of yours?" He asked curiously

"Actually, you are my only loved friend.. my childhood best friend so don't be jealous.. Besides, I met this lady at the cafeteria and she has been amazing to me.. Her name is Imlie and I don't know if you can still recall her at the cafeteria when you came over to get your coffee yourself and our boss talked to you about it.. Did you remember?" she said slowly with a smile

"Actually, I remember and I also remembered that a girl was hiding from me.. Now that you said it, I think is you but why? Why are you hiding yourself from me? what happened?" Ryan asked slowly

"Because then, I thought you're still angry and disappointed in me.. I could not look you in the face because of the fact that I betrayed you and I felt so guilty.. I respected you even before I knew you are my best friend, I felt so angry with myself when you find out about me and my boss's intentions" She said

"I hated you but I respected you somehow because I saw a courageous woman who could stand for a stranger like myself, I got that huge contract because of you and I really wanted to say thank you but my ego stopped always until I finally realized that you were my long lost friend that I waited for.. I have waiting for you so long that I lost myself.. I waited for you Emily that got confused at the world and only pray to the almighty to take me away or give me peace because I lost it then" He said, looked down in pain

Emily cupped his face gently and hug him. Ryan hug her back passionately as he calm down thanking the almighty that be finally answered his prayers.

Ryan left Emily's house to his house, he met his friend in his house drinking juice and have a conversation with his chef when he noticed his friend entrance.

"Marcus!!!!... in my house?.. really?" He said, moved closer to him and give him a tight hug

"I missed you bro" He said hugging him back

"What are you doing here and why didn't you tell me you are coming?" Ryan asked curiously

"Well, I'm back fully this time" He said softly and went upstairs leaving Ryan with his chef.

Ryan looked at chef and smiled awkwardly at her.

"I'm sorry I came late today Nanny" He said softly

His Nanny smiled at him "My overprotective boss.. you don't need to explain yourself and besides you've never done it before so no problem" She said as Ryan hug her tight. She reciprocate and hug him back

"What of your granddaughter nanny? the last time I heard from her was that day you told me you needed a leave away from home to take care of her" He said

"Actually, I followed your advice Ryan and told my daughter to take care of her child herself. I really love my granddaughter but I need my daughter to take up her responsibility" She replied

"Yes I told you nanny and thank God you followed.. take care nanny " he said and peck her before going to his room upstairs.
