Chapter-4

I was waiting beside the river with a boat. I was yawing a lot as I couldn't sleep the whole night because of excitement. Then I saw her running towards me and while breathing heavily. No wonder she sneaked out from her house.She was wearing a simple floral skirt and white shirt which made her look delicate. Her two braids made her looked more innocent. She looked at me with her pure beautiful eyes. We didn't said anything nor we greeted each other. I guided her to the boat I prepared. She sat down and started talking while I was rowing the boat.

'Grandpa told me a lot about it but forbid me to go. It's strict wherever I go. I really wanted to go, but I had no one to take me. If I ask the people here then they will tell my grandpa right away.'

I listened to her with a smile painted on my face. She really is an Angel. I was lost in her beautiful eyes, then suddenly she said something making me snapped back into reality.

'But, the boat isn't moving.'

I felt so embarrassed that I wanted the river to swallow me inside.

'Gosh! To be honest, this is my first time rowing.' , I said while scratching the back of my neck.

Then I again tried to move the boat again but failed. She laughed so hard seeing my condition. At least I could make her laugh.After trying for a long time the boat started moving.

The ride was silent as I thought to break the silent.

'My name is Adam Kate.'

'Oh my! I forgot to introduce myself. I am Jessica Fernandes.'

'You're from Gransia?'

'Yes.'

'I am from Gransia, too. I came here to visit my Uncle.'

'Really? What a coincidence.'

'Or maybe fate?' I whispered.

'Pardon?'

'Oh, nothing.'

Soon we reached the other side of the river. We had to walk for a bit as the house was at the middle of the forest. We entered the house and I looked at Jessica. She looks very scared.

'Is there....really a ghost?'

She said stuttering and looked back at me only to find me going to an unknown direction far from her. She came running towards me and hold the sleeves of my shirt feeling scared. I was liking the way she was holding me. I wasn't scared but my heart was beating rapidly. I wished her to be scared the whole time.

'Have you seen.....a ghost before?'

'Of course, everyday.'

'What? Where?'

'In the mirror.'

I paused for a second than turned with a creepy expression on my face and said,

'Actually, I'm a ghost.'

I said trying to make her more scared but she hit my shoulder.

'Stop it.' she said and frowned her eyebrows feeling annoyed by my action.

I gave up and started walking forward.

We went upstairs and started exploring the place. Jessica was walking behind me. Suddenly she fell on her knees. I rushed towards her direction and knelt down.

'Are you okay?'

'Yes.'

I hold her hands and helped her to sit down and saw her knees bleeding a little.

Suddenly we both felt someones presence behind us as we both looked behind but found none. There was footsteps on the floor which made us gulp.

We both went behind the house and found a store room. I went towards the room as it was the last thing to explore. Jessica was a little bit far from me. I opened the door and went inside. I saw a man with a beer bottle in his hand lying on the floor. Maybe he was sleeping. He looked like he didn't wash himself for years and looked kinda scary. I unknowingly screamed my lungs out and ran out from the house leaving Jessica behind, alone. Jessica thought I am again pranking her so she went towards the room. Before she could reach the door the man opened the door from inside revealing himself. As expected, Jessica also got scared and screamed while running out from the house. After she came outside we screamed together letting our fear out as we ended up laughing at our silliness. Suddenly the man came outside the main door and was walking away not bothered we were there. But we again screamed looking at him. He looked back at us and also screamed mimicking us with a weird expression.
