As Jeff emerged from the bush, he felt bad about the wolf being ganged up by the feral dogs. He knew that he must step up right now.
If he does not, the feral dogs will make the wolf their meal for today. Swinging the spear in a fluid motion, he smacked its base against the ground, the loud thud echoing across the clearing.
The feral dogs froze momentarily, their amber eyes snapping toward him. A low growl rippled through the pack as they turned to face this human who seemed to want to steal their prey.
Their predatory focus shifting from the wolf to him. Jeff steadied himself, his hands tightening around the shaft of the spear.
"If you don't want to take my warning...then get ready to get beaten up," he said under his breath, his voice steely.
The first dog darted forward, snarling. Jeff shifted his weight, bringing the spear down in a wide arc. The blunt end struck the dog's side with a solid hit.
