Player (Part 1)

Dave sat before his PC and opened the Elder Scrolls wiki. He was aware of how powerful the console was in the game but had no idea what to expect outside of it. Would all the commands actually work? As he looked at the wiki's console commands (Skyrim) page he shuddered at the sheer amount of commands. There was no way he would be able to learn them all without spending hours or even days inside his console space, staring at the screen. Maybe a reference would be a good idea? Unfortunately Dave didn't own a printer so he could only start copying down the wiki page, in its entirety, by hand. Luckily, he had an old notebook laying around so at least it wouldn't be scribbled on loose sheets of paper.

As Dave wrote out the list of commands a couple of them caught his eye. Obviously things like 'tgm' for God mode made him raise his eyebrows and imagine invincibility. Dave quickly dismissed those thoughts as they went against his philosophy that life needed an element of jeopardy to make it interesting. "If you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much space". Stephen Hunt nailed it with that remark.

Stopping his writing for a moment, Dave decided to try an experiment.

He gulped down the full glass of water on his desk and then went back to the console.

*~* [load "342019"] *return* *~*

"Yes!" Dave stared at the full glass of water on his desk as his eyes twinkled. He made a note to himself that he should make a save every morning from now on.

Calming himself, Dave resumed his furious note taking. He had a few ideas for other experiments but wanted to finish his current task at hand first. After he finally completed his notes it was time for the next experiment.

Dave got up from his chair and went to his bedroom. He removed all his clothes and stood there naked.

Nothing happened but there was at least no error message. Next, Dave put on his underwear.

It turned out that there are a LOT of Armani briefs in the world.

A line of text flashed up in the top left hand corner of Dave's vision. 'Armani briefs was equipped.'

*~*

Dave exited the console and looked down.

"No freaking way! This is way too OP! Looks like I'm going to have to seal this ability when I make my rules for the future. Right now though..."

Dave played dress up and spent the next 30 minutes hopping in and out of the console. This was actually a really long time when you consider that he was only outside of the console for a few seconds at a time.

Dressed in a fancy new black suit and looking like a rather chunky version of the Transporter, Dave went to walk back to his PC but found he could hardly move.

"Argh! WTF!! What is this??"

A couple of seconds later it finally hit him that he was overburdened. After all, his inventory was now filled with clothes. He crawled to his bed and picked up his notebook. Leafing through the pages he found his solution.

*~* [player.modav carryweight 9999999999] *return* *~*

"Ah that's better!" sighed Dave in relief. He wondered if he could experiment a little more since while he was flipping through the book another command caught his eye.

*~* [player.openactorcontainer 1] *return*

An inventory overlay, just like in the game, popped up in Dave's vision but he couldn't interact with it. Dave mentally frowned as he thought.

*~*

"Ah, I see! So I can scroll through it and equip things or drop things but I can't be in the console. I'd guess I exit this thing with *escape*? Yup, that did it. Now that I think about it... Does this mean that I could just check my inventory like in the game? No way, it couldn't be that easy right??"

*i*

"Well fuck me... I'm an actual game character now..." Dave stared blankly at the inventory before his eyes. His mods had obviously carried over too as SkyUI was working.

"Then..."

*x*

A compass appeared in his vision. Pilot Dave had been using Immersive HUD. A mod from the Nexus that allows the player to hide the head up display.

"Then... Magic?? Options menu?? All that other stuff??? I gotta check!"

Dave mentally prepared himself for what was to come. He couldn't even imagine what direction his life would go in if he really had the complete powers of a Skyrim player in the real world. To be honest, all of this was just too much for him to take in. He shut his eyes to focus for a moment and then took the plunge.

Sorry to leave you hanging but I have to split today's chapter. Unfortunately IRL commitments make writing time too scarce! Will upload part 2 tomorrow. Peace
