Chapter 25 What is Your Goal?

Iris and the gang walked up to him. "That's gonna raise some questions" Levi said to grandpa Calydon but he simply shrugged it off saying, "it's fine I'll handle it." Grandpa walked behind the ice hill, he placed his hand on it. His entire body seemed to glow with a very faint yellow light. His strength increased and the others felt it. He pulled his arm back and threw a punch "HAA!!!" the ice hill burst apart in different directions. He took in a deep breath and the glow died down. Iris, Levi and Kara could not believe what they just saw.

"You're not wearing any beast armor!" Levi exclaimed. Pete and Nora only smiled. "Take care of the mess kids," he said to Pete and Nora. "You three come with me" he said to the trio. Not long after the commotion, the villagers came outside and continued their daily lives like nothing happened. Ajax and his father Lucas were already at grandpa Calydon's house. Lucas assisted Ajax to get the villagers out of harm's way and was there incase grandpa Calydon needed help.

Iris Levi and Kara arrived at grandpa Calydon's house and went into the house with Ajax and his father. Grandpa Calydon sighed and put his sword on the table. Iris and levi stared at the sword thinking, it must be of a very high tier to have such a powerful skill and if it is as powerful, who killed the beast that such a sword was made from? But grandpa Calydon interrupted their thoughts, "you are going to explain yourselves, in more detail."

"We barely know you" Iris said,

"Don't worry," Lucas interjected "Grandpa Calydon is trustworthy. Tell him everything you told me." Iris Levi and Kara exchanged glances. Iris took a deep breath then spoke, he started with the invasion into Dawnville and how his mother died at the hands of the spears he told him about his blessing, and about his mother being a former wife to the tyrant of Kingsland. Pete and Nora Walked in on them and joined in listening to Iris' story. Iris continued telling them about how they sought refuge in Curtis but ended up getting betrayed. Levi helped in some areas when Iris forgot something. They also told him about their ambush in the forest on their way here. When they were done with their story there was silence. Grandpa Calydon looked up, he looked at Levi and asked "what is your goal?" Levi was a bit taken aback but it didn't take long for him to answer. "I have always been loyal to king James Dawn and to the royal family of Dawnville, and I still am loyal. I made a promise to our king the day he died, to protect his daughter and keep her safe." Levi took a glance at Kara and gave a reassuring smile causing her to turn away. Then he turned to Iris, "And I also promised my friend that I would go with him to the lands beyond the seven kingdoms and I'll go where ever the road takes me from there. That is my goal" He gave Iris his hand and Iris took it giving him a firm handshake.

Grandpa Calydon nodded at him, then he turned to Kara, "What is your goal?" He asked. Kara clenched her fists on her thighs, she raised her head and spoke with a determined gaze, "I will take back Dawnville." Iris and Levi turned to face her with confused expressions. "How do you plan to do that?" Iris asked, "you are not a soldier, your city has been taken over by a tyrant, the people of Dawnville are either dead, held captive in Curtis, or have started new lives under the rule of Festus in Curtis."

Kara turned to Iris "I will find a way, with or without your help, you're not the only one touched by the gods in this world, and there are so many great powers in the world .. I. .. I will find a way." The determination and resolve she had was evident.

"Very well" Grandpa Calydon said. "And you boy, what is your goal?" Iris was prepared for the question, he knew he would be asked but still the answer he planned to give... to him it didn't seem like a valid one. "My goal is... to go to the lands beyond the seven kingdoms." Grandpa Calydon gave a small chuckle like he was amused by the answer, he faced Iris again, "and why must you go to the lands beyond the seven kingdoms?" Iris was silent for a while, "to train and get a grasp of the ability I was blessed with" Iris answered.

"And why... must you learn to control your power, What will you use the power for?" Grandpa Calydon asked as he sat at the edge of his seat.

Iris thought for a few seconds, "T-to get revenge for my mother's death?" Grandpa Calydon laughed at his reply, "I asked you a question and you reply with a question, you are funny boy.."

Levi turned to Iris "Iris, it's okay not to ...."

"No its not." Iris interrupted, "its not okay levi. If I don't have a goal.... then why am I here, who am I even? Why was i given this power, what will I use it for? what is my reason to be here?" Iris bowed his head and questioned himself. He was angry, angry at himself for not being able to give a good answer. But most of all he was sad, his mother had died trying to protect him, and now.... now he doesn't even know what his purpose is. The purpose of the life that his mother died to protect. What is his purpose? Iris sat there his head held low in his hands as he pondered on the question trying to come up with an answer.

Iris lifted up his head, and when he did the others saw tears in his eyes that he tried to hold back. He wiped his eyes with his sleeve and spoke with resolve, "If I don't have a goal, then I'll, give myself one." Grandpa Calydon sat up eyebrows raised and ready to hear Iris' response.

So he asked again "Iris Wit, what is your goal?"

"I will go to the lands beyond the seven kingdoms, I will learn to control my power, I will return to Kingsland and bring My father, king Steven Blade to his knees. That is my goal."
