Chapter 13 Can't believe they don't guard their 'nuts'

King James took a few steps back, with fear in his heart, he tried thinking of what to do to get out of this situation.

"Festus take a breath, okay try to think about this with a calm mind" King James said to king Festus as he slowly backed away, he was moving slowly towards his family, 

" I have thought about it, and if there's any chance my daughter is alive I'm going to take it" King Festus responded.

"Festus please. ….."

"Do you surrenderJames ?" King Festus asked, "Do you surrender and call king Steven Blade of Kingsland your king."

"Honey, I think we should surrender"  Queen Marian, king James' wife said with fear in her voice,

"Oh dear, I…. I can't. We can't, not like this" King James said,

  Sigh, king Festus sighed, "Do not take this personally James. I'm sure you would do the same if it were your daughter. Guards, arrest him."

The guard behind king James' family moved forward to grab Queen Marian but king James turned around, caught the guard's arm, pulled him forward, and hit him in the gut with his knee, he drew the guards sword from its scabbard and brought it down on the guard's arm and cut it off from the elbow part that didn't have much protection from the armour.

"Aaaaaaahhhhhhgh " the guard screamed and so did Queen Marian and the Princess, as some of the blood had gotten on them,

King Festus turned around, " is this the route you wish to take james?" King Festus asked,

"I might not be as good with a sword, but I sure as hell am not going down without a fight." King James said with great conviction, and at the same time Iris and Levi burst through the doors with bloody swords in their hands.

Few minutes earlier … ...

Few minutes after King James left, Iris woke up, he slept in his armour, his shoulder length black hair was messy, his armour was dirty, his sword was on the floor beside him. He picked it up and tucked it in his belt, he got up and started walking outside but when he got to the doors he heard someone call out his name.

"Hey Iris. . Wait up"  Iris turned around and saw Levi walking towards him waving his hand.

"Good morning Levi, what's up" Iris asked while yawning,

"I came over last night but you were still asleep,... I uhh, I wanted to apologise about the way I reacted last night" levi said while scratching the back of his head, "look even though I think it's stupid for you to think of leaving the continent, I don't want to be the kind of friend that doesn't support his friend, so I thought why don't I got with you and we could meet the king together and you know … tell him you plan on leaving the army, or whatever is left of it anyway"

When Levi looked up he saw Iris smiling, 

"What's with that stupid smile on your face" levi asked

"Nothing man, I'm just happy that you're here for me, you know with what happened to my mother, and all this other stuff, I'm sorry if I sounded rude yesterday." Iris apologised.

"It's alright man. So. Are you ready?" Levi asked,

"What do you mean,.. wait you mean now? " Iris asked surprised,

"Well yeah, it's as good a time as any,"

"Alright then let's go, but uhh do you know where he is?" Iris asked,

"Yeah I saw him moving towards the palace earlier."

They walked outside the city hall and were on their way to the throne room which was in the palace. They got to the palace and two guards were outside guarding the entrance. When they got there one of the guards stopped them from entering by stretching his arm forward in a stop motion.

"Who are you, and why are you here?"

"We are the captains of the Knights of Dawnville, we are here to see King James our king, he requested our presence." 

The guard put down his arm and let them continue. They climbed up the stairs and walked into a hall with marble floors. It was a long straight hallway and at the end was a door with two guards in front of a pair of double doors, and from there was a fork road that separates at the end of hallway, the ceiling is at least 13 feet high and the red curtains on the walls were pushed aside to let sunlight come in. 

"We weren't summoned by king James were we?" Iris asked confused,

"No we were not." Levi answered with a smile,

"But then why …..."

"Because Iris... "

They walked up to the doors and again they were stopped by the guards .

"You can't enter"  one of them said,

"We are captains of the Knights of Dawnville, we were summoned by our king" Levi said to them.

"He's in a meeting with OUR king," the guard replied

"We were summoned," Levi repeated in a much colder tone, but the guard didn't even pay attention.

"Common Levi," Iris said "let's just … ..." but he was cut short by a scream. 

The guards were about to draw their swords, but Iris and Levi turned and kicked both guards in their nuts. Iris gave the guard on the right an uppercut with his knee to the chin, then he drew his sword and thrust it through the neck.

While Levi kicked the guard in his chest and he hit the wall, Levi got down on his hands and kicked the guard in the back of his knees, the guard buckled and fell on his knees, Levi drew his sword and stabbed the guard in the back of the neck. 

"Can't believe they don't guard their nuts' ' Iris said and they kicked the doors open. They saw King James holding a sword and few feet away from king Festus. They saw a guard with one arm cut off behind king James. They saw King James's family with panicked expressions, they frowned. They got ready for battle.
