We're back baby!

" Hey, stop by tomorrow I want to introduce you to my parents properly. Oh, but just to warn you, my dad is kind of a jerk."

Eve said to Mark as the boy stepped out of her window/

" What about your mom?"

Mark asked nervously.

" Well, she's more likely to try and eat you up than try to kill you like my dad."

Eve giggled as she explained her mother to Mark.

" I see. I'll make sure not to wear my meat scented cologne then."

Mark joked back making Eve laugh a little.

" All right. I'll see you later Eve."

Mark said to the woman.

" I'm looking forward to it Mark."

Eve brushed a strand of her hair behind her ear and smiled at the man.

Mark smiled back and took off into the night sky.

" Woohoo!!!!"

Mark exclaimed loudly as he soared high into the air, doing tricks in the air. The wind blowing his hair back as he frolicked around freely.

Mark then gathered his strength and rocketed off towards his home. Breaking the sound barrier multiple times in the process.

Mark slowed himself down as he approached his home and gently landed in his backyard.

" Tum tata Tatataaata."

Mark jammed as he opened the door to the house. He walked in dancing and when he turned around, he nearly felt his heart jump out of his chest when he saw his parents and Cecil watching him.

The house was filled with awkward silence as Mark stared at the others.

" I had a good date what do you want from me huh?"

Mark asked the group.

" Ugh!"

" Glad to hear it sweetie."

" Hey, kid."

Nolan, Debbie, and Cecil exclaimed as they heard Marks explanation

" Thanks mom. What's up Cecil? What's going on?"

Mark said to his mother before turning to Cecil and asking why he was there.

" Nasa's about to launch their first manned mission to Mars."

Cecil explained to the boy.

" Yeah, that's right I forgot about that."

Mark said back to the man.

" Yeah, and I need your father to shadow the mission. Make sure nothing goes wrong only he won't do it."

Cecil grumbled annoyingly.

" I'm busy training my son, Cecil. And with the guardians gone I'm needed here on earth. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were trying to get rid of me."

Nolan said to the man bitterly.

" It's because the guardian's massacre that I need you on this mission. The planet needs a win right now and this is it."

Cecil explained to the man.

" You think people are going to care about mars if there is an attack on earth and I'm not here to save them?"

Nolan asked the man.

" I think people are going to care if the first four people to walk on another world end up dying there."

Cecil shot back raising his voice slightly in agitation.

" My priority is to my family and this planet end of story."

Nolan exclaimed.

Mark finally stepped forward and spoke up.

" Guy! Guys! If you really don't want to go dad. Then I'll go."

Mark spoke up and volunteered himself for the mission to Mars.

Nolan turned to the boy in slight shock.

" Besides, I've been to the moon. Might as well add Mars to the list as well."

Mark stated.

" Yeah, that was the moon, Mark. Mars is different. Way different."

Nolan exclaimed.

" If the boy wants to go to Mars, then let him."

Cecil turned back to Nolan and said to the man.

Nolan then turned and eyed Cecil clearly in anger.

" What's the worst that can happen? It's what a two-week round way trip? I can be up there and have the astronauts back safe and sound. You can stay here to protect the planet. Everybody is happy, it's a win-win scenario. Am I right mom?"

Mark explained to the two men before turning to his mom for support.

" I don't like Mark missing school. But I can't think of a better reason than keeping people safe."

Debbie exclaimed in agreement with Marks decision.

" See? Look I can handle this. Just trust me. on it."

Mark said to his father.

Nolan looked at the boy and his frown slowly disappeared. The man took a deep breath and sighed before finally speaking again.

" All right mark."

Nolan said as he placed his hands on the boy's shoulders.

" Glad to hear it. Pack a lunch kid you leave tomorrow."

Cecil said to the boy before teleporting out of the house.

" All right, I'll take something that won't freeze in space. Maybe chocolate."

Mark said to himself as began thinking about foods he could eat.

" Don't worry sweetie. I'll make sure to have you ready for your big mission tomorrow."

Debbie said to Mark as she kissed him gently on the side of his cheek.

Mark smiled and kissed his mom back before walking up the stairs to his room.

Mark walked all of the way up the stairs with a smile on his face. However, as he walked that smile soon turned into a face of fright as he realized what he just did. Or more specifically who he needed to talk to now. Eve.

' SHIT!'

Mark thought to himself.

" Well, guess I better just pull the Band-Aid off."

Mark said to himself as he walked into his room. He took off his clothes and grabbed his phone from his pants. He looked into his contacts list and phoned Eve.

The phone rang for a few seconds before Eve finally picked up the phone.

" Hey, Mark. Miss me already?"

Eve asked the boy as she stepped out of the shower.

" Yeah, I do. But I'm calling to tell you we're going to have to move our meet and greet tomorrow."

Mark said to the woman over the phone.

" Why? What's wrong?"

Eve asked as she sat on her bed.

" Cecil came over to the house. He needs someone to shadow the Nasa mission to Mars tomorrow and I'm it."

Mark explained to the woman.

" Oh, that sucks. He couldn't get your dad to go? Or the new guardians?"

Eve asked the man.

" Dad was a no go. And I don't think any of the guardians are ready for space missions. So, it boiled down to me."

Mark explained.

" I was really looking forward to it. That sucks."

Eve exclaimed disappointedly.

" So, was I. But don't worry I promise to make it up to you when I get back in two weeks."

Mark explained to the woman as optimistically as he could.

" Two weeks. You better bring me back a souvenir for this, Mr. Mark."

Eve teased the man

" You got it beautiful. I'll see you in two weeks. Until then take care of yourself and stay safe."

Mark said to the woman before finally hanging up the phone.

" Time to go a little off-script. Gonna end these bastards for good."

Mark said to himself before turning over to sleep for the night.
