Awakening

While Elian was descending the stairs, his mind was still thinking about the diary. Even tho there is information about churches and religions, there is no information about the destruction of one nor were there any mentions of a war between The Great Empire of Duran and a religion.

But that didn't matter now, because Elian finally reached the cellar.

In front of Elian was a black wooden door. Next to it was a lantern that was still somehow lit even after centuries. The air was suffocating, only the steps of Elain that echoed could be heard as they left footprints on the floor due to the dust that had accumulated for centuries.

Elian placed his hand on the door. He took a deep breath and twisted it. The creaking noise of the door was heard and then Elian walked in.

A long corridor stood before him, the air was even more suffocating than before, yet Elian felt euphoria being here. He started walking along the corridor until eventually there was another door before him. This time it was even more broken, like something was punching it from the other side. But something was dulling Elian's ability to think rationally so he opened it too...

Elian's heart was beating without stopping.

Now in this big room. There were thirteen statues, three of which were broken.

The closest statue next to him was a woman with a beauty so great, she could topple worlds. Under the statue, there was a scratched text and only two words could be read.

'The firstborn'

The other thing that took Elain's attention was the corpse that was in a bowing position in front of one of the statues.

Elain walked to him and crouched.

Even though the person next to him died years ago, he still had a fanatical smile edged into his mouth as he looked at the statue.

It was a person in robes with no head.

The more he looked at the 'face' of the statue, the more scared he became until eventually he looked down at the text under the statue.

'Varedus

The seventh born'

Elain stood up and walked towards the end of the room. Now next to him were the three broken statues.

'The lady of thorns

The third born

Destruction ' the left statue depicts a lady with no face and hair that reached to her feet.

He gazed at the statue on his right. Depicted on the statue was a man holding a spear in his right hand and a head in his left while he was laughing.

' Saurion

The tenth born

War'

And then the last statue in front of him. The statue gave the aura of emptiness and at the exact time an aura of fullness. This statue was in the worst shape of all. It was broken on the floor and the only recognizable shape was its mouth which had an indifferent look and its eyes were empty.

Elian read the text under it.

' He who is everything and nothing

Eternal Chaos'

Elian then looked at the other statues I didn't mention that were in pristine condition if we don't count the scratched text. Just as Elian was about to return to the door, in his peripheral vision he saw a door behind the sixth statue. He walked behind it and tried to open it but failed. He tried again but didn't manage to do it.

Elian sighed and took a step back, then he kicked the door near its handle and opened it.

He slowly walked into the room.

The room was still and quiet, a solemn air of reverence hanging over it. In the center, surrounded by flickering candles, stood an ancient altar, with a book laid atop its marble surface. The book looked to be quite old, its black cover worn and its pages turning yellow with age. It was as if the book was waiting for someone to read it, its dark secrets just waiting to be discovered. The more Elian gazed at the book, the closer he got to it. He placed his hand on it.

Elian opened the book, and then his face paled.

In the book, there were hundreds of drawn eyes that all gazed towards Elain. Instincts took control of Elain's judgment as an intense primal fear took control of his being. But it was too late before he could remove his hand, a black substance caught it. Elian screeched and pulled his arm but the substance grew and grew until it completely enveloped Elian's body. He fell on the floor and lost conciseness.

***

Soon Elian awakened. He stood up and looked around him. Fragments and fragments of his memories returned until eventually remembered the book and looked at it.

Only dust was left of the book. He looked around the room for everything else but found nothing. Elian then started walking out of it and then up the stairs.

"What the hell just happened?" he asked himself.

'What happened to me? What was that book? And why did it turn to dust?'

After an hour he finally left the tower. But then the sound of groaning and stone creaking was heard. Elian turned around at watched as the foundations of the tower started crumbling until eventually, they turned into dust and rubble. Elian sighed.

"I guess this location won't be marked on the map..."

After watching the tower crumble, Elian started returning to the path he went through in the beginning. On his way, he met an E-ranked beast named Guthound and killed it.

(I won't be writing about an intense battle until our MC finds a worthy opponent haha)

Elian now stood in front of the portal and just as he was about to go in he heard a ding sound.

[Congratulations, you have awakened!]

Elian stupidly gazed at the screen in front of him.

[ You have reached D-rank ]

[ You have unlocked the power of necromancy!]

When a person reaches D-rank, they get access to the system and gain a power. Of course, the system isn't from our original world but from the destroyed one. All of this happens because there is enough mana in his core to create the power and gain access to the system. But anyway...

Elain clicked on the text necromancy.

[ Necromancy is an art from ancient times, with it you can reanimate dead people and converse with them. You can reanimate a body if it has died recently(max 2 hours), up to 5 people a day.)

"..."

Elian just stood there looking at the text not blinking.

'Why did I rank up?'

Normally it takes a person months to years to rank up because their core needs to be filled with mana. Yet for Elian who ranked up seven months ago, this was unheard of. With every rank up, the time for rank up will become more and more until eventually they can't anymore.

'I should try my power when I return tomorrow.' Elian thought as he walked into the portal and disappeared.

When he came out of the portal, this time a different guard walked up to him.

"How many cores did you get?"

"I got three cores. Two G rank and one E rank." Said Elian before giving the guard his bag. The guard searched it and then gave it back to Elian.

" Until next time." said the guard while Elian nodded his head.

Elian chose to run home rather than take the train.

When a person ranks up, their physical capabilities increase with every rank. And they aren't little increases but major ones.

Elian opened the door and closed it behind him. He went to the living room only to find his father already sleeping. Elian took a snack from the fridge and went to his room.

He sat on his bed and took out his phone.

'Varedus' he searched online.

[ There haven't been found any documents related to your search]

After this Elian tried all other names until he typed 'He who is everything and nothing. Eternal Chaos'. This time a site popped up.

[What does this text mean?]

Elian clicked it.

[Hello, can anyone help me? I found this text on a sword while I was hunting. Does anyone know what does this mean? ]

Elian swiped toward the comments but there weren't any.

He clicked his tongue, turned off his lamp, and went to sleep.

Little did he know that in the darkness, two red eyes were staring at him.

Should i return and post more chapters? Nah
