Sam never had any worries in life. He was adopted form an orphanage at a pretty young age by a rich couple that couldn't have any kids, and for that same reason raise with all the love they could give him. His parents pampered him so much that if he asked for anything, he could have it right away.
But Sam, for as long as he remembers, has always had a problem: he has zero desire for anything. It's not that he doesn't like getting things, it's just that if you asked him things like "What do you want?", "Who do you want to be?" or "What do you want to do?", he will tell you that he already had everything he could want, or that he doesn't really want anything.
And he wouldn't be lying, after all he has a loving family, excellent health, a bunch of money, nice place, nice food, nice clothes, etc. He even studies at a nice school where everyone admires him because of his good grades in everything.
However his luck still didn't run out. Whenever he does anything where chance is a factor, he always wins. Forgot to study for a test? That usually impossible test this time suddenly has all the easy questions. Playing any type of game? Best luck possible and the opponent suddenly makes many fatal mistakes. There was an accident on the street he normally passes by going back from school? For some reason that day he decided to take a different route.
Even when he needs something it just falls from the sky, and no one knows where it came from. It's like fate itself is supporting him, like he is special.
He knows all that. That he's special, that he has all that he could ask for, that if he needs anything, it's his.
Still, he always feels... empty.

Sam was walking back from school alone as he always did, after all he has never really been that close to his classmates or anyone else that aren't his parents. It's not that he never tried, but he found that he simply cannot relate to anyone personally because unlike him, who has everything handed to him, everyone else always seem to have something they struggle with, be it being socially acceptable, intelligence, appearance, approval from someone and many many more.
He never faces difficulty and never fears for what is coming, he just accepts anything that happens as if meant to be. Of course, this mentality of his somewhat worries his parents, to the point where they even suspected that he had some kind of mental illness, but were relieved yet still worried when they found he was completely okay.
On the other hand, he himself doesn't see anything wrong with how he thinks, after all he was never proven wrong and his luck still stands firm.
It was then that suddenly he slipped and quickly tried to regain balance, only to hear the loud sound of a gunshot right next to him. 'That was close', he noted casually to himself as if he wasn't in mortal danger just a moment ago, with no ripples in his uninterested yellow eyes.
While the people in the same sidewalk as him were running and screaming in panic and fright, he simply continues his normal walk towards home, completely ignoring the fact that he could have died just now if it wasn't for dumb luck.
Yet, when he was about to cross the road, a truck in high speeds was coming his way with no sign of stopping and just few seconds from running over him. Still, as if he didn't even notice it (author: oh no oh fuck shit he has airpods on!!!), he continued on unhurriedly, utterly unafraid of his apparent soon coming doom.
The truck was really close, but out of nowhere another car appeared and smashed onto the side of the track, taking it off of its path and saving our defenseless protagonist from a horrible death.
How he reacted tough? Simple, he ignored it completely and after some more almost unfortunate accidents, he got home feeling only slight confusion. 'Is the world going crazy today? Why is all this random shit happening?', he tought to himself as he got home, unharmed in the slightest.

The gods, in their infinite boredom of having endless time, have always roamed the galaxy searching for new entertainment or even creating it themselves, most of the time in not really ethical ways. But it's not like you can blame them, right? If you last forever while most things around you don't, can you really see them as something other than animals or toys? Things that easily break, cannot comprehend you, that you can watch or shape their entire lives without them even being aware their lives are being guided by your whim?
So the gods seek interesting things to do like walking on water in front of a primitive species to get them to revere you(it gets them every time lol) or provoke a crusade in their name just to experience some excitement.
However today is different. A god that was watching planet Earth from the Sol system decided on a whim to send a misfired bullet in Sam's direction and suddenly, Sam slipped and the bullet missed. The god was amused and decided to try sending an out of control vehicle in his direction, only to have another vehicle crash into the former one, causing it to miss Sam, again.
The god called other gods to try and end this man's life, yet none of them succeeded, and in no time every god in the galaxy(not that there are many anyway) was watching with interest this non-entity casually shrugging off all of their attempts at his life as if everything was under control the whole time.
This was the start of a short but fun game for those higher timeless entities, yet a long and strange period of Sam's life, one that will mark him forever.
But none of this is known by our unfortunate (fortunate?) protagonist, of course. After all, no mortal can fathom a god's thoughts, and no one could know that all of these gods would reunite for a single purpose: to end Sam's Infinite Luck.
It's my first time writing and I really don't know if I like it. Anyway if you have any constructive criticism, feel free to tell me how I should improve.
