Sandra sat on the visitors' bench at their school gardens. She was sucking a lollipop while Bertha and Clara paced around anxiously.
''Hey, stop walking back and forth. My eyes are hurting from watching you too'' Sandra said to them.
''I hope Ayah is alright. that bitch just knows what to do to mess with Inayah. How did she get those things into Ayah's bag?'' Clara sat next to Sandra.
''During the general assembly time. No one was in the classroom. It was the perfect time to sneak in and put those things into her bag'' Sandra said and saw Inayah walking towards them. ''She is here''
''Ayah, are you alright? What did the principal say?'' Clara asked.
''How did it go?'' Bertha also asked.
''Tell us, quick'' Sandra said impatiently.
''She said I need to bring aunt over tomorrow'' Inayah sat on the bench.
''That b*tch'' Clara cussed.
''She clearly got it out for you'' Bertha sighed.
''Hey, psycho. What are you going to do now?''
''I don't know. I'm so confused; I really can't think straight right now'' Inayah sighed.
''Poor Inayah, are you crying?'' Samantha walked to them.
''Listen to me, Samantha. I will not be brought down that easily by you. I know you kept those things into my bag. I will get you back for messing with me first''
Samantha's lips curved into a mocking smirk. ''Really? This is just the beginning Inayah. Why don't you just admit defeat and I might let you off?''
Inayah chuckled. ''Hey, did you think I would be so bothered by that little stunt you pulled? Samantha, it will take more than just that to make me admit defeat. I will definitely get you back for this. anticipate it'' Inayah said and knocked over her shoulder, shoving her aside as she walked away.
''Samantha, the rate at which you do nasty things; I am afraid of your karma, seriously'' Clara said and the three of them walked away leaving Samantha alone.
''I think I need to teach that girl a lesson''
….
Inayah's House.
Inayah picked her phone and sat on the couch. She contemplated for a while before dialling her aunt's number. Miss Gladys answered after the second ring.
''Babe, you finally know to call me?'' Miss Gladys asked over the phone.
''Aunt…''
''Ayah. How are you doing?''
''I'm fine, aunt''
''That's good to hear. Did Clara tell you I will be taking the two of you shopping during the weekend?''
''Yes, she told me. Aunt, are you free tomorrow?''
''Tomorrow, why? Do you need anything?''
''Well, actually. Something happened at school today and the principal asked me to inform my guardian''
''Okay, I will pass by the house after school. Is that okay by you?''
''Yes, aunt. Thanks''
''Ayah, is someone making things difficult for you at school? You know you can tell me anything, right? I know I am always busy and don't have a lot of time to spend with you and your cousin but I love you two the most in this world. Don't hide anything from me, okay? and don't walk in eggshells around me''
''No, aunt. No one is bullying me and you are doing great. It's just that, a purse and some cigarette was found in my bag, so the principal asked to see you. But, aunt, I did not steal it and I don't smoke''
''Hey, do you even need to explain that to me? I know my niece. I know what she can do and cannot do. Don't worry, aunt believes and trust you''
''Thanks, aunt. Then, I will see you tomorrow at school''
''Mm, get some sleep. I will take care of it tomorrow''
Inayah hung up and smiled. She suddenly felt happy that she still had people who believed in her. She didn't know what she would have done if her aunt didn't believe her.
''I can't believe I'm caught up in one of Samantha's tricks again'' Inayah muttered.
…..
Next Day.
Principal's Office.
Miss. Gladys sat down and looked at Samantha as she stood beside Inayah. Gladys furrowed her brows and shifted her gaze to the Principal.
''Your niece insist she is innocent. But, that is hard to prove because the things were indeed found in her bag''
''Okay, Principal. My niece does not lie. If she says she is innocent, then she really is. As for the purse; Miss whatever your name is… '' Miss Gladys' eyes sized Samantha up before she continued. ''I did some searching last night and apparently that purse was bought at city mall. Am I lying?'' she turned to give Samantha a meaningful gaze and the latter's eyes quivered. Her face changed slightly.
Miss Gladys looked at Inayah and gave her a wink. ''You see, little Miss here. Your parents may be powerful, but, you need to remember that they're not the only powerful people in this city… So I suggest you tone it down on the bullying. I am a lawyer and I also know a lot of reporters; you wouldn't want to get me curious about your family…'' Miss Gladys stood up and stepped closer to Samantha, ''get this from me, you shouldn't bully my niece again because my temper is much nastier than hers'' she turned to look at the principal who looked rather shocked and speechless.
''I think we're done here, Principal. As if the cigarettes, I will make sure to discipline my little niece very well at home''
''Sure'', that is okay'' the Principal said, feeling rather uncomfortable. She used to be acquainted with Inayah's parents so she knew who Gladys was. She was a rising lawyer who was yet to lose a case. The Principal didn't want to deal with her so she dismissed them.
….
When they got out of the principal's office, Inayah turned to her aunt, ''aunt, you were so cool inside there''
''Silly girl. Just don't let that girl bully you again or I would lose my face. Why are you sometimes a snail?''
''Aunt, you should go now. I have classes this morning. I missed the morning lesson already''
''Alright, take care and don't hesitate to call me''
''Thanks aunt'' Inayah hugged her aunt before running off to class.
YEAR 3 CLASS C.
''Do you think Inayah would be punished?'' Bertha asked as she sat beside Clara.
''Don't worry. You don't know my mom that much but, she can be a force to reckon with. She is going to put Samantha in her place. I inherited her genes after all'' Clara said proudly.
''Yeah, you have a foul mouth sometimes'' Bertha replied and saw Inayah coming in. ''Ayah''
''Ayah, how did it go?'' Clara asked as they rushed to them. The rest of the students looked at Inayah curiously.
''What do you think? Aunt nailed it so well'' Inayah said with a proud smile.
''Really?'' Bertha became excited.
''Yes. I won't be punished…'' Inayah looked at Samantha, ''but, someone did lie about their purse. It was bought at city mall''
''Don't think I would be scared by your aunt. I could get her fired from her workplace'' Samantha threatened.
''Oh, really? You think you can get my mom fired? Because your dad is some big shot mayor?''
''Watch your mouth''
''No, you watch your mouth. I will tolerate anything from you but, you don't get to talk about my mother like that'' Clara was about to go over but Inayah stopped her.
''That enough, you don't have to be bothered by her, Clara. She can't do anything to aunt''
