Signatures

As soon as they started bending over, I held Evan's hand knowing full well we're trapped but someone one says suddenly "Let's go. There's no one here"

Distracting the person who was supposed to see us and just like that, we were safe. As soon as they went out I yelled: "Could you explain to me what's going on?"

He gives me a side look which I don't seem to notice since the place became dark once again. It was then I felt a soft touch against my hand beckoning me that I was still holding his hands tight.

And with the speed of light, my hands are off wondering on my compound ware. I still feel his gaze on me even after that before he slides out to the open turning the light on and I do the same hesitantly.

"Read this" he utters handing the file to me and I stare at the document silently with squinted lids

"You haven't given me a response yet" I decline folding my arms against my chest staring at him disapprovingly.

"Just read the damn thing! They have answers to your question" he persists

Unfolding my arms, I receive the document from his hanging hands and he withdraws instantly waiting for me to unveil the package. I take a quick scan of the file then open it, and to my greatest shock, the heading alone tore my eyes apart. I didn't have to look further as I handed the file back to him.

"Thank you for your aid but I'll have to say, you went too far. I'm not getting involved in your mess"

"You're already involved in my mess so get this over with"

"No" I insist

He looks at me unbelievably and impatiently "You seem stubborn uhh"

I roll my eyes, and he advances towards me stopping inches away, weakening my bones.

"The file in your hand contains the link to an incident that happened years ago. Not just that, but there is an agreement involved and the signature input there is that of Mrs. Jana and…your mom"

His last word made me so curious and anxious to start scrambling over the file which I did as soon as possible. I flipped past the first page and saw a name written by Emma and it was shown she had an accident in a 'Lake'! What's that supposed to mean? Whatever! I jump past it reading further and freeze when my lens caught a written containing my mom's signature with that of Mrs. Jana. I couldn't get the essence of their agreement because it wasn't stated anywhere. It only left me in suspense, anxiety, and one question… How does this girl's accident relate to my mom or Mrs. Jana?

Living me staring at Evan with curiosity…he gives me a worried look before mentioning "I thought this will give you insides. Has your mom ever mentioned something similar to you?"

"If she did, I won't be this surprise"

"What if your mom is hiding something from you? What if the person who keeps tormenting you is no other than the girl who had an accident?"

I shake my head in confusion "I have no idea…I'm so confused right now"

"If she had something to do with it, why didn't she tell me?" I add

"The same reason no one knows about it to date. All we know is she drowned and her body was found three days later. If she is the one tormenting you, then there is something only your mom and Mrs. Jana knows that has not been included in the school's history."

"So," I let out knowing full well why the girl's supposed ghost is hunting me…obviously because I'm the daughter of my mom and my mom was related to the incident but what exactly did my mom do?

"We need to find out what truly transpired. That's the only way we could know what step to take next"

Suddenly, a realization hit me that I can't truly conclude the girl I saw in a trance is the girl who died years ago "No no…what if we're overthinking? I don't even know how she looks or if she is the same girl who has been tormenting me"

Evan breaths out exhaustedly "Alright…I will find a pic of her and show you. If she is, we'll carry on with our plan okay"

I nod submissively "So what are we going to do with this? Keep it?"

"Absolutely not. I'll have to return it this night before your roommates return then head back to my dorm"

"Don't you think is risky? What if you're caught?"

"I have no choice"

"By the way…how did you find out about the footage?" I questioned and he was silent for a while "I recorded" he responded

I was blank for a moment before my brain registered his statement "Wait for what?"

He raised his brows as though he said nothing "You know that's not allowed! How much more do you have?"

"A lot" he replies "A lot!" I repeat raising my voice and he places his hands over my mouth.

"You wouldn't have gotten this over with if I didn't do what I did"

Silence filled the entire room as we stared into each other's eyes forgetting we could be caught at any time.

He was so close that my pores began to sweat due to the radiation from his enchanting eyes. I couldn't control it anymore yet; his hand didn't move away living the feeling of his palm against my flesh.

I tried parting my lips to give him a signal of his intense gaze and closeness, but his antenna wasn't capturing any of my struggles.

I had to go with a second option by rolling my eyes towards his stiff hand then back to him and he blinked his eyes taking it away living me breathing out in relief.

"Now what?" I inquire nervously looking away and hear nothing in return.

Turning my gaze to him he looks away and I sense he has been staring at me. I gulp smiling foolishly "Uhh…I have to get going now," he says

"Yeah you have less time…make sure you watch your step" he nods moving towards the door

"Wait" I stop him "Let me help you"

He gives me a confused look as I move past him "I have to clear the coast before you get past"

He cockles "How are you going to do that? You're even not supposed to be here"

"You're not supposed to be here either. But between you and I, I have more chances to escape this than you so shut up and let me do this"

He opens wide his eyes in disbelieve and I peep at the corridor before heading out while he stays back waiting for me to give him the signal to come over.

I walk prudently with my book in hand as an excuse if I'm caught, when I arrived at the end of the corridor and everywhere was clear, I gestured for him to come over and he did speedily. We went on for the last path towards the principal's office and I waited outside for him to reposition the file which he did successfully but on heading out the bell rang signaling preps were over and students will in no time fill the corridors.

I gasp looking at him in panic and he returns a smirk "It was nice partnering with you, my general. You should take your leave now. I have my way from here"

"Are you insane? We're trapped!" I grumble

"No we aren't but you will be soon if you don't leave this place here on"

I narrow my eyes still doubting his words and he pulls me with him in between two side walls just when a supervisor walks past us not noticing our presence.

"Eww" I breathe out in relief meeting Evan's eyes which are stuck on mine and not just that but we are even closer than ever. I could feel his heartbeat from his chest against mine and he could feel mine too. We were just as close as water particles bonding covalently. "That was close" I utter under my breath "Very close…" he whispers his eyes and lips sparkling in the deem light.

I bit my lip unconsciously letting out "How did you know someone's coming?"

"The same way I knew you'll come over for your book"

I stop breathing instantly and I'm certain my brain registered correctly what he just said.

"How long have you been spying on me?"

"I don't think I have an account for that" he response and my eyes grow wide

"Wait for a second…you mean all the while when I was changing my ware you-you were there!?" I recall the sounds I heard before heading for dinner this evening.

He presses his lips into a thin line scratching his fonts with his thumb and index finger.

"You bastard!" I yell

"Relax" he shuts me with one finger on my lips "I didn't see anything…I guess just your panties and bare legs" he mutters the last statement to himself but I get it anyway.

I hit him against his chest but he doesn't pull away or stop me "Why are you resisting?"

"So you could finally calm down if that's what it takes"

His action did calm me down as I withdraw my hands "Why isn't anyone coming out?" I peep through the enclosure we are in.

Looking back at him, he gives me an amused look with a half-grin on his face "You faked the alarm!!" I exclaim in acknowledgment and he chuckles.

"How did you do that?" I ask eagerly

"That will be a story for next time. Right now we need to take the opportunity of this moment. You head back for preps while…" he looks at his watch "I direct myself to my dorm in less than 2minutes from now" he responded but no one to pathways. I just fix there already very comfortably with our closeness.

"Uhh…goodnight!" I say and he nods slowly staring at me before responding "See you tomorrow" he slides away and I stare at the back of him disappearing into the corridors.

As soon as I step my feet in the prep hall, the real bell rang and I realized it was up to 3minutes from when Evan read his watch till now. I just chuckled within myself at the thoughts of what transpired between us but that slight grin faded away when I noticed I didn't do any of my physics assignment and neither did I take down my notes.

I curse within me and bit my lip hard knowing full well what awaits me tomorrow. Abigale sees me from her sit as she rises with her books and other things of mine she packed towards me who is currently a statue.

"What took you so long? I've been waiting for you so we could do the physics work together but you didn't even show a trace of your return. You sure you're ok"

"No, I'm not! I just missed doing my assignments and copying my physics notes! That's messed up!"

She stares down at me with concern and slight confusion "Where are you sleeping in the dorm?" I fall my head backward staring at the sealing then forward slapping my hands against my pale face.

We just walked out of the hall towards her lockers "You can do it when everyone is asleep"

"That's not an option…I barely slept during nap time so I won't risk my night sleep. I need my energy tomorrow" I respond as she shoves her books into her locker and I do the same for mine.

"You're right. Night sleep is very important. At least we have a break tomorrow before his period so…maybe you could catch time to complete your work. Even if it's just a sketch" she suggests and I don't disagree with her. But a sudden thought comes to my head as we strolled to our room.

Evan has to assist me in my assignment because he is the main reason I'm left behind…that'll be his good morning for tomorrow.
