“Don’t mind him.” Craig winked. “He’s loopy.” He circled one finger around his ear, earning him a smile from the woman, and a swat on the butt from Kevan.

With that bit of byplay over, Craig and Kevan walked down to the eatery. It was crowded, being a Friday night, but, while Craig waited in line, Kevan managed to squeeze in between two people at the bar to order a couple of beers. He and Craig had finished half of them by the time they were able to get a table.

“What did you have last time?” Kevan asked, perusing the menu.

“The lamb sliders,” Craig replied. “Tonight I think I’ll have the fish tacos.”

“I’m going to try the steak and cake. I guess it’s their version of surf and turf, from the sound of it. If we have room, we can split a slice of sweet potato pie for dessert, if you want.”

“I want.”
