“Janie thinks she saw Scott,” Craig replied, after making certain no one else was with earshot.

“Where and when?” Kevan asked her, so she recapped what she’d told Craig. “How sure are you it was him?”

“I’m not going to say for certain it was, but from what I saw of the guy, he looked like Scott.”

“Okay. Don’t mention this to anyone else, please,” Kevan replied. “I’ll do some checking, especially with the hotels in the area, in case you’re right, Janie, and he was just visiting.”

“It doesn’t make any sense,” Craig said. “Why come back?”

“We won’t know that until we find him,” Kevan told him. “If we do.” He put his arm around Craig’s shoulders. “For now, let’s get back over there and eat, before everyone else scarfs up all the burgers.”
