Tasha stirred and found her phone beeping, she groaned and ignored the call. She doesn't fancy being woken up with a call, it means a bad morning for her and she is not someone who jokes with her morning.
"I Hate you"
She literally screamed in her mind as she used one of her pillows to cover her ears to block the ringing. The phone would not just stop ringing.
"Arrrrg"
She picked the phone and tossed aside,
"Get a life, you!"
She said out loud like the caller is in the room with her.
"If I get you,you will hear from me this morning"
She fumed and tried getting back to sleep but could not. Her morning has been ruined entirely.
Since she is going to go back to bed, all she could do is wake up and get on with her day.
"Why the frown? You look like you woke up from the wrong side of the bed?"
Her mom said from the door. It looks like she has been there for a while now. She was still in her pajamas, looking ever young.
"You can say that again mom, I hate when my morning is like this"
Tasha said and opened her eyes and stared at her mom, who was smiling at her.
"You look beautiful mom, did you see dad in your dream?"
Her mom chucked and walked over to the bed and sat down.
"Good morning to you too sweetie"
She said, kissing Tasha's cheeks.
Tasha grunted and looked at her apologetically.
"Good morning mummy, I'm so sorry. Imagine how my morning is turning. I'm looking so grumpy. I didn't sign up for this, did I?"
"You, my dear , can choose to be happy or sad. What you do is entirely your choice, you don't let things or people choose how you want to feel."
"Alright mama, quit the lecture"
Tasha slumped back on the bed trying not to get bored already with her mom's presence in the room.
"Tell me, who was the boy you met last night?"
Tasha looked at her mom like is she being for real? How can she get up and not brush her teeth and all her mom could think of is a boy.
"Is this how desperate she wants me to get a boy?"
She thought bitterly,
"Why can't mom understand that I am not cut out for boys. I hate her so much"
She lifts up her eyes and glare at her mom,
"This is morning for heaven's sake and all you can think off, mum, is a boy?"
She said through gritted teeth. Her mom imagined how a thought of a boy would do this to Tasha.
"Is there something wrong with her that she doesn't want me to know or what?"
She wondered while she waited for Tasha to answer her question.
"All right mum. I know you want me to say something about this boy but I don't know him. I met his grandmother last year with Jenny. I kind of walked into the ice cream shop today where I met the grandmother which she happens to own and somehow she matched me up with her grandson. Mummy, you needed to see how the grandmother was gushing over me like she's found a wife for her grandson. I can't bear the thought"
While expressing how she felt, she could not stop rolling her eyes. The mom thought she looked so adorable by the way she was fighting the air going into her nostril like it's the boy.
"That's great honey, I need to see this boy and also see this old lady you are talking about. Who knows? He might be the one"
"Mom, you are not being serious right now, are you? I am seventeen, remember I am not allowed to have boyfriend"
"Don't be silly Tasha, you are done with high school, in few months time, you will be going to college"
No matter how she argue with her mom, she can't escape the fact that her mom really wants her to have a boy.
"How will mom react if I tell her that I don't like boys"
She thought with a silly smirk on her face,
"She would go crazy, maybe seize my phone and grand me for one month"
Tasha gave herself a possible answer.
Tasha sighed and sat up,
"Mom I will get a boy and I hope you will leave me alone after that"
"Of course my dear. I don't want to feel there is something wrong with you. I am not pressurizing you to have a boyfriend, just get to be in their company. Since you were a child, it's been Jenny and Jenny alone"
Her mom pulled her to a hug after then she raised Tasha's face up,
"You can tell me anything, whatsoever it is, I will understand"
"I will remember that mom"
Tasha responded and pulled her face away from her mom's grip.
