Chapter 5

In minutes, they entered, and Josh flipped on the light and tossed his keys onto the small corner table by the door. He let go of Rick’s hand and watched him for a moment. “Want a beer?”

“Sure, sounds good.” Rick tried to sound nonchalant, but felt so off-kilter he wasn’t sure he’d pulled it off.

“Have a seat.” Josh gestured to the living room. “I’ll be right out.”

Rick scanned the room as he sat on the large black leather sofa. There was a matching chair and ottoman and a huge flat screen on the wall across from the sofa. Several nice art prints hung on the walls. But the showpiece was definitely the coffee table.

Square in shape, it appeared sturdier than most furniture.

Josh came in with two bottles of beer, his gaze on Rick, running his hands over the coffee table.

“Like that?”

Rick jolted. “It’s gorgeous. I’ve never see anything like it. Where did you get it?”
