Chapter Two: Remembering the Past

Hye-jin stirred in her bed, her eyes fluttering open to the dim light filtering through the tattered curtains. A sharp gasp escaped her lips as her surroundings slowly came into focus. Memories, once buried deep within her subconscious, flooded back with startling clarity.

"I... I remember," she whispered to herself, her voice barely audible in the stillness of the room. "I am Bai Feng Hu, the immortal nine-tailed fox."

Her mind raced, trying to make sense of the fragments of her past that had resurfaced. She had been reincarnated as a mortal in a different world, a realm known as Murim. In this world, strength reigned supreme, and power was determined by the might of one's sect or clan.

Confident that she is alone in her room, she reflected on her past and the stark differences between the Immortal World of Cultivation and the Murim World of Martial Arts. Hye-jin speaks to herself in a monologue.

"I never imagined that I, Bai Feng Hu, the immortal nine-tailed fox, would find myself here, in the Murim World. A realm where the pursuit of immortality is replaced by the cultivation of strength and mastery in martial arts. It is a stark contrast to the world I once knew."

"In the Immortal World of Cultivation, our focus was on harnessing the energy of the universe, refining our qi, essence, and spirit. The goal was clear—attaining godhood and transcending the limitations of mortal existence. We sought immortality, the pinnacle of our aspirations, and through countless years of training, meditation, and arcane rituals, we inched closer to that divine realm."

"But here, in the Murim World, it is different. The emphasis lies not on ascending to godhood, but on perfecting the physical self and honing one's combat abilities. Martial artists dedicate their lives to pushing the boundaries of their physical prowess, attaining peak human performance through discipline and rigorous training. It is a path that requires relentless perseverance and unwavering dedication."

Hye-jin looked at her small thin arms. "The Immortal World allowed me to explore the metaphysical and esoteric aspects of existence, manipulate cosmic forces, and shape reality itself. It was a world of mysticism and profound energy, where immortals wielded unimaginable power."

"Yet now, in the Murim World, I must adapt to a new paradigm. Here, strength is revered, and combat skills are paramount. Martial artists channel their life force, their Qi, to unleash devastating attacks and demonstrate their dominance. The physicality of this realm is awe-inspiring, with incredible speed, agility, and martial techniques that surpass the boundaries of what I once knew."

But as Hyejin reflects upon these differences, she realizes that there is a thread that connects these worlds—the pursuit of enlightenment, growth, and the realization of true potential. Whether it be through the cultivation of qi and spiritual energy or the mastery of martial arts, the underlying goal remains the same: to surpass our limitations and become the best versions of one's self.

As the memories continued to unfold, Hye-jin's heart grew heavy with sorrow. In this life, she has a twin brother and three more younger siblings. They were orphaned at a very young age as their parents had perished at the hands of a rival clan. Her parents' lives were snuffed out by the merciless pursuit of power. Hye-jin and her siblings had been spared, thanks to the valiant efforts of old man Byungho, who had whisked them away to safety just in time.

The realization of her true identity as Supreme Immortal Nine-tailed fox, Bai Feng Hu reassures her. The Murim world was a treacherous place, her knowledge and immortal power would be a great help for her and her siblings to navigate in this world.

With a determined glint in her eyes, Hye-jin sat up, albeit weakly due to her injuries. "Oh Yun Che, Yun Che. I wonder if you know that I will live." Hye-jin grabbed her chest as a sharp aching feeling grips her. " In this new life, I will not allow myself to be hurt again by you. Given enough time I will forget you and this pain that you caused me."

"I will focus more on protecting my siblings in this new existence. I would navigate the treacherous paths of Murim and will seek justice for my parents and will forge a new destiny in this unfamiliar world."

Rising from her bed, Hye-jin prepared herself for the challenges that lay ahead."I will uncover the secrets of Murim, harness my immortal powers discreetly, and emerge as a force to be reckoned with. I will no longer be a helpless mortal. I will become a formidable presence in a world dominated by power struggles."

Taking a deep breath, Hye-jin reaffirmed her resolve. "Bai Feng Hu may have been a legend, but I will make my own mark in this world. Murim will know the strength of the immortal fox, even if it is hidden behind the guise of a mortal girl."
