Pawns and brothers?

"Enzo" Chiara called," you busy? I need some help," she said.

The man ran over and looked at the whiteboard expectantly," so this is the new victim, right? Valentina Ruberro?"

"Yup. Just a pawn to get Matteo back." She said, "Fat chance of that happening. He's the only connection we have to Kore"

"Well, why don't we ask him to contact her?' he asked, "Force her to surrender, or we send him to the gallows"

"The gallows? This isn't Game of Thrones and as for bribing her well, we are trying, he isn't cooperating. You can torture him how much ever you want but that boy has a steel soul and does not give in at all" she sighed, leaning against the table as she looked at the whiteboard. There was no connection between the houses or the people even. It was completely random, as was her previous MO.

"Well what if you fake a letter from him?" he asked.

"They write a separate language to each other and use code language," She sighed, "weird couple."

"I don't think they're a couple, more like master and apprentice," he said, "it's a very strange relationship"

"Who is he actually? I know his parents died, and she took him in" Chiara watched as he pulled up a picture on his laptop of an old article.

"The couple found dead in their house, tortured and left to bleed out, the child was found hiding in the closet," he said pointing at the picture of the couple," I don't have the case files but I'm sure you can get access to them later. "Anyway he was supposed to be taken to the hospital to have a check-up but the car was found in the middle of the road with the officers and social worker dead. The child was missing. He appeared later on as one of the suspects in the Rivera murder case in Rome"

"So. She took him and how did she make him a killer?" she asked.

"Manipulation... she raised him as a killer and that's basically all he knows" Enzo finished leaving her in shock.

"That's disgusting" she sighed," you think she had no pedophilic feeling toward him?" she asked

"I hope not but it hasn't been disproven," he said.

"I think so... It would explain a lot about her anger toward not having him, right?" she looked over at the man, and he nodded with a grim expression.

"Sexual deviancy is not out of her reach Chiara handed him a file, she is a convicted rapist as well and a few of her crimes had signs of sexual violence. "

"Right, The first few cases in Calabria and a couple in Rome. Let's see if we can get some similarities among those cases." He looked at her as she sighed and plopped a large stack of cases in front of him. He wouldn't go through them...but he knew she would eventually.

"This is Capella Palatina or the Palatine chapel. It's the royal chapel of the Norman palace. It was commissioned by Roger 2 of Sicily in 1132 to be built upon an older chapel that is now the crypt. Bianca droned on talking about the architecture style and the history of Capella Palatina."

Destiny looked around, enraptured by the colors that shone down on her.

"I have been here when I younger with boyfriend" Kore whispered," It beautiful always."

"It really is stunning" destiny smiled.

"Yes, I miss uh...Mio Fratello" Kore sighed.

"Oh, I'm sorry, what does that mean?' Destiny asked.

"My brother. He...is in jail" her lips contorted in anger as she spoke about it, "he will come out soon"

"Aw! Hope he comes out soon! So you both can come to visit this place again" Destiny smiled compassionately.

Kore looked at her with surprise etched on her face which now softened, "thank you."

"Sure... and if you don't mind me asking why was he imprisoned?"

"Oh, murder!" Kore smiled, noticing the fear on Destiny's face she quickly added, "in self-defense! "

"Oh... okay" Destiny smiled and watched the lady walk ahead. She was strange for sure.
