His Secret

Strolling around the campus, Nicholas saw Abigail sitting on a bench, revising her report. He then walked towards her and asked, "Care to spare some time?"

Abigail folded her arms. "If you're gonna talk about Adeline again—"

"I didn't believe it when she said that she wasn't angry." Nicholas sat down beside her.

"If your ambivalent about her, I suggest you stay away."

"What are you talking about? I've always treated her as a best friend."

Abigail sighed and slowly closed her laptop. "Are you that dense? For the past eight years, you just realized her blatant lies now?"

Nicholas leaned back on the bench and looked away. "You don't have any right to talk to—"

"You don't know her at all. What you see in Adeline in the outside is not what she is in the inside."

"Look, instead of telling me how much of a terrible friend I was to her, could you just tell me what her problem is?"

"It's pointless because even if I did tell you, there's nothing you can do about it." Abigail stood up. "It's something only you can figure out."

(In the girl's dorm)

"Adele, we're about to become seniors soon. Don't you have anything planned for the future?" Molly said as she wrapped her hair with a towel.

"After graduation, Nicholas and I plan to visit our parents before finding work." Adeline continued fixing her clothes.

"Abigail and I plan on staying in a penthouse together. Won't you join us?"

"Molly, I actually plan to confess to him after graduation. I think it's time to tell him how I feel."

Molly dropped the combed she was holding as she slowly opened her mouth. "Are you insane? What will happen if he doesn't like you back then? Can you still be friends with him?"

Adeline stood up and looked at the mirror. "I've had enough. I'm ready to face the truth."

A few hours later...

(In the canteen)

When Nicholas started eating his late lunch, a woman in a bright green dress suddenly sat in front of him. When Nicholas turned his head to look at the woman, he smiled and offered her the milk he bought. "It's nice seeing you again, Ella."

Ella wiped his lips using her thumb. "Talking while eating again huh!"

Nicholas grabbed her wrist. "You made me wait too long."

Ella, a student of fashion design was one of the most outstanding student in the entire campus. Her charisma and audacity consistently made her the top choice as the host of big school events. A lot of boys fancied her, but she didn't seem to notice it since she only had her eyes on one person, and that was Nicholas.

After studying in Paris for two years, she abruptly came back home to her mother after hearing the downfall of her business. Leaving her tuition fee in jeopardy, she ended up studying in the same school as Nicholas.

"I missed you." Ella hugged his arm.

Nicholas kissed her forehead. "I missed you more. How's your mother's business?"

"Sales are starting to decrease."

"Don't worry, I'm here now."

(Flashback)

Two years ago...

Sitting on the edge of the pier as the sun started going down, Ella sat down beside Nicholas. "Nic, my mother offered me an opportunity to study in Paris. Would you be okay if I go?"

"Are you here to tell me this just because I have feelings for you?"

"That's no what I—"

"Please don't make me wait just because you know I will."

"I'm sorry if I haven't given you an answer to your confession yet, but I've made up my mind."

Nicholas covered her mouth. "Tell me when you come back. Maybe you'll change your mind by then."

Ella removed his hand and kissed his cheek. "Before I leave, don't you think I should say yes?"

"It's your decision if you—"

"I like you, Nicholas. I can't promise to fix all your problems, but I can promise you won't have to face them alone."

Nicholas held her hand and smiled. "Then don't you dare take that back, Ella."
