Bruce's Team

As Aiden and his team replaced some tires, Bruce's group was doing much better.

"I can't believe we made it this far," a female voice sounded out, the person who spoke was Serena a former member of Aiden's team, her voice was filled with praise as she gazed at a red-haired figure in front of her, it was Bruce, the leader of this team.

Walking ahead with the silver-eyed Lila on his shoulders Bruce suddenly spoke, "It's been two days since we were last attacked, I think we're getting closer to the Shelter."

His remark made the group even more lively as they pressed on with more determination than before.

Serena was thrilled, the future was looking bright, and it was all thanks to the people around her.

Observing the team in action, Serena smiled at Bruce's imposing figure, his red hair commanded attention as he walked.

Arlet moved gracefully, her taunting blue eyes flickering with determination as she darted around with her dagger in hand.

The dark-skinned Eloise, her pinkish braids swaying with each step, appeared weary and tired as she dosed with each step.

Noah's laid-back expression highlighted his lowered guard, as he walked through the forest.

Meanwhile, Finley's long curly brown hair cascaded as he expertly handled his bow, his every movement calculated.

Thalia, shrouded in her black blindfold, navigated the woods with remarkable precision despite her blindness, the floating shards above her head giving her a mythical aura.

Lila's youthful appearance and silver eyes betrayed her fearlessness, evident as she swung her feet, sitting on Bruce's shoulders.

Blessing, another dark-skinned girl in the group remained composed, as she moved. Thanks to the help of healing pills, she was able to grow back her teeth.

As for them, the rescued members, Felix's grumpy disposition seemed nonexistent as he too was in a good mood, while Ethan's cheerful demeanor brightened the woods as he chatted with everyone.

There was another person in this group though, if Aiden was here he would recognize Kevin, the man who had saved him back at the river bank, the only problem was that Kevin was supposed to be dead.

The group had rescued Kevin from an infected beast, similar to how they rescued Felix, ever since they rescued him, Kevin hadn't uttered a single word, making the group quite weary of him.

As they trekked through the dense forest, the group discussed, their conversation ebbed and flowed, filled with snippets of their recent triumphs and the challenges they still faced.

Smiling, Ethan asked, "So what's next after this place? Are we gonna have a drink or what?"

Scoffing at Ethan's comment, Felix replied, "Why don't you wait till we're out first," looking towards Thalia, Felix questioned, "Thalia are you gonna keep doing that when we get to the Shelter?"

At the sound of her name, Thalia turned to look at Felix, her natural movements were enough to make anyone forget that she was blind.

Pressing her lips together, Thalia responded to Felix's question, "I'm not going to stop, I think it looks cool."

"Like a fashion statement?" Ethan darted in sounding confused.

Chuckling at the silliness of the conversation, Bruce said, "Since when did dangerous weapons become fashionable? Just the other day, you used those floating shards to pierce a hole through that infected monkey's head."

"Easiest beast we've ever faced," Eloise darted in with a smile.

"Na I think the easiest would be the pink birds," another member of the group added.

Unbeknownst to them, a subtle shift in the atmosphere signaled their passage beyond the abysmal enclave's reach, the reducing hell energy highlighted the fact that they had made it back to the shelter.

Not everyone was completely oblivious to this subtle change though, Lila who was engaged in a debate with her teammates suddenly paused as she looked around with faint confusion before continuing her talk.

The group walked for hours until the change became noticeable to all. As they walked Ethan pointed it out, "Hey guys, don't you feel like the hell energy has reduced."

"I thought it was just me," Serena replied before adding, "It's almost as though we are back in th-"

"I think we are back in the Seventh Shelter," Bruce suddenly said as he came to a stop.

Raising his brows in confusion, Felix asked, "Why do you think so?"

At the sound of Felix's question, Bruce pointed to a figure in the far distance, a figure that seemed to be standing atop a tree.

Moving closer they noticed a woman in a pristine business suit, her face concealed behind an eerie white mask.

Upon discerning the identity of this woman the tension in the air lessened as the group exchanged elated glances, this woman was Three Face, a part of the Silence's main team.

"Well, Well, Well, imagine my surprise when I found out that this many of you survived," Three Face intoned, her voice echoing strangely through the trees. "Congratulations on your victories, particularly you, Bruce. Your talent is truly remarkable."

Bruce's expression remained stoic, his eyes betraying only a flicker of discomfort at the unexpected praise.

But before they could react, Three Face's demeanor shifted, her gaze fixating on Bruce with an unsettling intensity.

"Tap!"

A small thud could be heard as she jumped down from the trees, walking towards the group with large strides.

"Your blade, if you please," Three Face requested, her tone deceptively calm as she observed the group.

Hesitating slightly, Bruce relinquished his heavy sword, only to witness in horror as Three Face swiftly turned.

"Slash!"

It was as if the blade was weightless to her, as soon as she held it she delivered a fatal blow to Kevin with chilling precision, leaving a trail of blood as she severed his head from his body, how she achieved such a clean strick with such a heavy blade left Bruce questioning his own ability.

Quickly chaos erupted as the group scrambled to defend themselves, but Lila's calm voice cut through the commotion. "Wait," she urged, her silver eyes alight with understanding, as she added, "Look at the body."

All eyes turned to Kevin's dead body, their horror mounting as his form contorted and twisted into a grotesque monstrosity, his true nature revealed in a nightmarish transformation.

It looked like a creature with odd plastic-like skin, its skin was so vividly black that it almost seemed liquid, and on its severed head, were two smiling eyes and an unnervingly large smile that showcased its perfect teeth.

Understanding what had just happened, the group felt a shiver run down their spine, they had slept on the same spot with that man, they had eaten, joked, and traveled together, to think all this time he was a demon in disguise.

Amidst the chaos, Three Face remained unfazed, her attention shifting to a secluded spot behind a nearby tree. "Come out, Mister Oliver," she commanded, her voice carrying an undeniable authority.

"Who's Oliver?" Ethan asked, his eyes still shaking a bit as he recovered from the shock of just now.

The group turned to the direction Three Face was gazing at and discovered that a naked man had somehow appeared out of thin air.

Ethan, Felix, and Serena were badly startled by this, but the people on Bruce's team didn't look all that surprised.

Seeing the reactions of Felix's crew, Three Face seemed to have discerned something as she turned to Bruce, "It appears that I have underestimated you yet again, although you fostered a foreign group, you didn't let your guard down."

Saying this Three Face turned back, and with a simple gesture, instructed the group to follow her.

(Two days later,)

"Vroom!"

Long after Bruce's team, had crossed the enclave, Aiden and his group were also following far behind, their vehicle moving with impressive speed as they drove through the enclave.

Sitting in the front seat were, Mai and Jonathan, Mai had her hand on her cheek, seemingly lost in her thoughts, as she tried to ignore the gloomy aura coming from the back seats.

Jonathan on the other hand focused on driving the truck perspiration flowing down his forehead as he struggled not to look at the rearview mirror.

"How close are we," a familiar voice suddenly sounded out from the back seat, breaking the stifling silence.

The person who spoke was Aiden, and by the higher tone of his voice, one could discern his heavy impatience.

Hesitating, Jonathan gulped before answering, "A few hours, just-just a few hours, Aiden."

Upon hearing Jonathan's words Aiden gritted his teeth, trying his best to calm himself, "How long do I have left?" Aiden's voice sounded out in his mind as he conversed with Landon.

"You have 2 hours left Aiden," Landon notified, his voice grim and glum as he darted in, "I'll miss you."

"Who said I'm dying for sure?" Aiden muttered in his head, his eyes narrowing to slits as he laid back on the back seat.

They had been traveling nonstop for two days, during these two days they strangely hadn't encountered any demons or infected beasts on the way.

Aiden found this strange, but Jonathan assured him that such was normal, in his words, the dry and desolate parts of the enclave harbored fewer demons for some reason, as for why they hadn't encountered an infected beast, Jonathan didn't know as well.

Their mission was to find Binder, the masked woman who escaped from Aiden's grasp back at the cave.

Jonathan's old team had left two trucks behind, and these trucks could only be unlocked by a master remote.

If Aiden had killed Jonathan as the masked woman expected, he wouldn't have known this, he wouldn't even be able to find the trucks.

Fortunately, he didn't kill Jonathan and he was happy with that decision, according to Jonathan, he had a way to track down the other truck.

Since he couldn't get to the shelter in time to find a book anywhere else, he hoped that the masked woman would have one on her.

By now the sun was starting to set signifying the end of another day.

Looking out the window, one could still see the flickering blue light representing the barrier above, a light that gave one a sense of security.

"Found her," Jonathan suddenly exclaimed prompting Aiden to look forward.

As their vehicle slowed down, Aiden and his crew noticed something in the distance.

"My god, what happened here?" Mai muttered as she gazed at the anomaly before them.

Mai wasn't the only one surprised, Aiden and Jonathan also had deep frowns on their faces, their brows furrowed in confusion.

They had found the truck all right, but it was in a mess, crashed into a large rock, and the entire side of the truck was compressed like a squeezed can.

Dents large and small could be seen around the truck as well, further highlighting its wrecked appearance.

Confusion evident on their faces, Aiden and his team cautiously stepped out of their vehicle to observe the scene.

"She's not here," Jonathan pointed out after a quick search, his expression unreadable as he turned to Aiden, "what do we do now?"

"I suggest we just continue our journey, it's unlikely that we'll find her again," Mai suggested, but received no answer.

Aiden was quiet, his gaze diluted as he gazed into the distance, "I'm going to get killed by a fucking penalty?" He thought to himself.

Looking at the floating book in front of him, Aiden sighed at the time remaining for him to complete the mandatory mission.

He had to find a book in ten minutes or he would face a penalty, this place was too deserted how was he supposed to find a book?

Noticing Aiden's glum face, Mai asked, "Aiden are you all right? You've not been in the best of moods for a while now."

Just as Aiden was about to answer he suddenly heard something in the far distance.

Tilting his head Aiden asked, "Do you guys hear that?"

"Huh?"

Mai and Jonathan's exclaimed at the same time looking confused as well, this was because in the distance, though subtle, they could hear the sound of singing.
