“You’re here.” Kevin announced as he got closer to Sawyer. The shocked look on Sawyer’s face made him chuckle as he rolled to a stop in front of him. “If you keep quiet, I’ll keep quiet.” Kevin advised as he too took in the sight of his friend, who he hadn’t seen in two years. In this very town, on this very street.
“What happened?”
Kevin chuckled at Sawyer’s lack of an attempt to hold back. “I broke it during the semi finals.” He was referring to his right leg in a cast, held up in his wheelchair. “I thought I could still maybe play on it if I tried and I went from crutches to wheelchair.”
Sawyer felt a new devastation and sympathy. “Kev-“
Kevin shook his head. “It’ll be fine. My mom’s pissed and can barely look at me, but as my dad says, there are worse things. Like you. You look like crap.” He’d heard from Al, but he still can’t believe it.
