Icarus' Curiosity

Shun is an unusual person with a highly inquisitive nature; once he became curious, he may go to whatever extent was necessary to obtain the information he desired. Somehow, he ended up in the One Punch Man universe, where a city can disappear at any time. From the look of it, this world doesn't seem like the One Punch Man world he knows. How will he cope in this dangerous world ----- Something I began to write in hobby... and also promote the slightly serious'er' one

1 Filler Chapter: The Loser

You may find my small talk a bit abrupt, but please read it.

What is genius?

Copying from Google, it defines exceptional intellectual or creative power or other natural ability.

In many opinions, a genius is someone who requires fewer efforts to achieve greatness or someone who puts effort into one thing to achieve much greater results than a normal person ever could.

But to me, a genius is a broken person.

Blind people, for instance, can hear better in exchange for their inability to see. Genius is a similar but more exaggerated meaning to that.

As a compromise for the broken part, another part has exceptional performance compared to others.

This fanfiction is written keeping that in mind.

"Doesn't he creep you out?"

A whisper of someone bad-mouthing someone else could be heard.

The student secretly pointed his index finger to Shun as he continued to talk in a 'barely' hearable voice. As someone who whispers, he failed his only job.

"He's always gloomy... I think I'm the only one who's noticed it but... did you see his finger? I just figured it out earlier when I looked closely at it. It's been stitched as if it has been cut apart before!"

After the male student said this, their conversation became boisterous as they played a guessing game on Shun's background.

In class, Amachi Shun was a strange person.

He had a very handsome look. A round jawline made him look slightly feminine but the content of his face compromised it.

He had a modest nose, and his almond eyes were perfectly spaced. It is a pity that his overly long bang meant that such a bewildering look wasn't available to shown to other.

All he had to do was cut his hair and change his temperament, and girls would flock to him.

Such a man was currently sleeping without a care for the insult directed at him.

He wasn't pretending to be asleep like a victim of such treatment would do but he was just sleepy.

Shun opened his eyes awoken by the surrounding noise. 'Soooo boring~' was his first thought.

In order to reduce the boredom that was slowly killing him, he recalled one of the most thrilling memory.

***

It was one hella hot day. That day he was outside, looking at his bicycle.

Looking at the spinning wheel, he had a thought, and that thought turned into curiosity.

'What would happen if I insert my finger inside this spinning wheel?'

'Will it be cut off?'

'Will the wheel stop?'

'Excited! Excited!'

With a face full of thrill, he inserted his finger on the wheel, and what followed was an overwhelming pain.

"Hey, boys! stop bad-mouthing your classmates!" A girl couldn't hold back any longer and warned the nearby students.

"What's wrong about it? He can't even hea..." the student started to speak back but stopped after he felt Shun's presence.

"Hey, guys, what are you on about? Can I join in?" Shun smiled gently as he said.

'The one who warned the boys is Sukone Kana and how coincidentally, the boy who got warned, Suzuki Kaoru had a crush on her.'

Shun was intrigued by the thought once it crossed his mind.

'What if I kissed her? How would Suzuki Kaoru react? Both he and I know Kana hasn't dated, not to mention kissed anyone.'

'That's sadistic.' Shun inwardly shrugged. That would be breaking the rule he made on his own.

He wasn't Dio after all. Shun wouldn't do something so heartless.

Just as he thought that the boring school life would continue, an unexpected circumstance occurred.

Inside the classroom, from the front door, a headless teacher appeared. Below his neck was drenched with blood.

The sight of the headless teacher caused a ruckus inside the classroom. Some shrieked in fear while some questioned if this was a prank of someone else.

Soon, they notice something riding above the teacher's neck. It was a Japanese Daruma Doll. Strangely, it moved while keeping a rigid expression.

The Daruma Doll silently arrived at the front desk, and said, "the Daruma has fallen!"

Someone who was bewildered and not able to grasp the situation moved up to call for help.

However, the moment he moved, a huge hole opened in his brain erasing half of his face as his lifeless body fell over.

'Holy shit. Someone... died!' Shun sweated as he thought.

The corpse of their classmate struck a sense of panic in the minds of students as many rushed to escape the room but every single person who moved was killed mercilessly.

"The dar-..." The doll said slowly.

The moment the doll turned back, Shun quickly realized what was going on and charged forward with all his might.

"UMA HAS FALLEN." As if the doll had an intellect, the doll accelerated its speed—forming a black line you see from a car drifting, it turned toward the students.

'That was close. A hole almost opened up in my body... wait a minute, how do they do it? What does it feel like?'

By the time curiosity was born in Shun's mind, the students began understanding their situation, mostly because Suzuki Kaoru was telling them.

"Everyone this is a daruma game! If you move while the Daruma Doll is turned toward us you will die!" Kaoru's voice was clear with a tinge of fear as he said.

While some tried to escape the room using the time Daruma Doll that turned its back on them, they discovered that the door was locked.

In the next round, when Daruma Doll turned its back, someone tried to break the window to escape. While all this was happening, Shun was slowly strolling toward Doll as if walking outside normally.

After all, the rule of the Daruma Doll Game was to get to Daruma without being caught moving.

With Shun's whole attention on Daruma Doll, he had found a button to click on it along with the timer on its back.

However even if one knew the rules of the game, no one would dare to do so before confirming it because real life wasn't a game. No one would be willing to bet their 'important' life on a rule of a game they know.

As Shun was closing in on Daruma Doll, his classmates began noticing the button on Daruma Doll and figured out the way to win this 'game'

Thus, they stood still, waiting for Shun to complete the game.

"Da...ru...ma has fallen!" Although the doll tries to change the tempo, to catch Shun off-guard, Shun was strolling, and had no acceleration after reacting.

Slowly but surely, Shun was getting there and within 5 minutes, he was certain to get to Daruma... Yes if there wasn't an obstacle.

\I wonder if there is more to come after this game♫,' Shun thought and smiled, anticipating the future.

It was at this moment, "Daruma has-" as the daruma doll speaks and slowly turns around, Kana shouted in unwillingness.

'No! What are you doing, Kaoru!' Kana cried out as an object bluntly cut the wind.

Matching daruma's sentence, the pencil case came flying toward Shun's head, and he who barely reacted to it had two choices.

One was to dodge the pencil case. The second option was to stop moving, take the pencil case on his head with all his strength, and hope Daruma wouldn't detect the slight vibrance.

'Is Kaoru an idiot!? As the person in the forefront, if you killed me, who will complete the game?" Shun thought inwardly before making the choice.

The third choice. Before Daruma completely turned to Shun, he took the handkerchief from his pocket and threw it in front of Daruma.

"Fallen!" In synchronization with the Daruma Doll's call, the pencil case hit Shun's head causing him to have a slight movement.

At the same time, the handkerchief blocked the Daruma Doll.

...

...

...

Nothing happened and just as he was about to sigh in relief, he noticed the familiar pain from the past—the pain of something being removed from himself—as he checked up, he found a big hole in his stomach.

'It's a pity, Daruma-san had an X-Ray sight.' Falling to the ground lifeless, he left his final word. "You won... the batt-... Kaor..."

He was neither angry nor unwilling. Since he was a child, he had no significance in his life.

If he had no abusive father, he also had no cheating mother. They were loving and gave him a perfectly normal environment.

During his middle school years, he wasn't even bullied and at most, he was creeped out. Even the reason why Kaoru intentionally talked so badly about him was that Kaoru knew Kana had a crush on Shun.

Despite the overlapping normal, abnormalities called Shun was born, and died today.

Kana suppressed her cries as Shun died in front of her. People say a farewell to each other is a painful event but an eternal farewell without a goodbye definitely hurts more.

More so, if you liked the other side.

Without care for Shun's death, the game mercilessly proceeds as the class once again panics, shifting their blame to Kaoru who was the cause of Shun's death.

Amidst the chaos, there was a single person who was determined to complete the game. It was Kana.

Later, she would press the button causing her to be the only winner of the game but that is the story of another wor-... heck it isn't even the story of another work.

Yes, this was the story about what happened to the loser of the death game.

That was long. Really long. Originally, I planned the main character to suicide in front of his classmates out of curiosity but I ended up doing the death game just because of my respect for
