Chapter 97: Meeting Crasher(3)

"How did you manage to escape?"

Luke could see Bell flinching and started to tremble.

Actually, Luke only knew a bit about Bell's backstory. The way the author told Bell's escape was so vague that it seemed that there was no information about it at all, which made Luke curious while reading the novel.

Luke just wanted to know what happened to feed the curiosity that he had in the past. He had no intention of digging further or meddling in his business.

"Nevermind, if you don't want to tell me then-"

"No, it's fine. I'll tell you."

Luke stopped talking and nodded. He thought that Bell would feel uncomfortable and refused, but he unexpectedly agreed.

Luke then continued to walk again and Bell started to speak.

"My sister helped me get out... But she got caught."

Luke and Liam stopped moving and looked at Bell, who was looking at the floor with darkened eyes. He then continued.

"Every three hours, guards will change their shifts. Each shift took five minutes and we took that chance to escape, but..."

Bell bit his lips while looking back to where they came from with bitter eyes.

"We didn't know that there were damn recording orbs outside..."

"Tsk."

Luke could hear Liam clicking his tongue and clenching his fists. He seemed mad and disappointed at the same time.

Mad at the cunningness of the Empire, and disappointed because he already knew what was going to happen without Bell telling the whole story.

Even Bell knew that fact, but he still continued.

"Alarms went off, the guards got alerted, and they spotted us. We were about to be skewered by the guards' spears, but my sister pushed me away as hard as she could and... Got skewered alone."

Luke's eyes squinted and he looked at Bell carefully. He could then see Bell's fingers, eyes, and legs shaking. He then saw Bell about to continue, but Luke had enough.

As he said, he doesn't want to dig any deeper further, he just wants to feed his curiosity.

"Enough, we are running out of time. Let's go."

Luke then turned around and started to walk. Bell looked at his back with wide eyes. He then saw Liam approaching him and helping him stand properly. It seems that he noticed that Bell's legs were about to reach their limits, so he decided to help him.

Liam supported Bell and smiled.

"Let's go."

Bell was dumbfounded for a while before slowly nodding. They then started to walk to follow behind Luke, who still kept walking without waiting for them.

Bell looked at the back who was getting farther and farther away from them with disbelief and sighed. He then broke free from Liam's support and patted his back.

"I am fine now. We should hurry."

Liam nodded and picked up their pace to reach Luke.

---------

After hours of walking on different floors of the tower, they finally reached their destination. It was not the exact destination, but they could tell it was because they saw a girl waiting for them at the end of the hallway.

The girl seemed to be constantly on the lookout. She has red hair and orange eyes. It seems that it's true that the way to recognize witches is by their red hair.

The witch continued to look around but stopped when she saw Luke, Liam, and Bell staring at her. She seemed surprised. Her gaze then moved towards Bell but shifted quickly to the silver-haired man. She didn't know why, but she could feel this irresistible aura around him that made it hard to not focus on him. This made the witch nervous, but she snapped back when she heard someone calling her from the door behind her.

"Psst, are they there yet Lucy?"

Lucy looked back and saw a black-colored eye peeking between the gaps in the door. The girl, named Lucy, cleared her throat and whispered back.

"Yes, they're here."

"Oh! Where? Let them in! Hurry!"

"Are you sure that we can trust them?"

The person from the other side stopped for a moment before sighing.

"We need to take risks. We currently have nothing on us. It's even a miracle that someone is willing to help us and knows about our situation."

Lucy pursed her lips and clicked her tongue. She then looked at Luke, who was blankly looking at her.

"... Come on in."

Luke then didn't waste any more time and walked forward towards the door. Lucy looked at Luke with shock at his actions, but Luke paid no mind and opened the door open wide.

Thud!

"Ah!"

Luke stopped moving when he felt he had hit something while opening the door. He then saw a red-haired woman sitting down on a chair with wheels. More specifically, it's a wheelchair.

The girl then retreated her wheelchair by moving it backward and fixed her hair. She then looked at Luke, who was staring at her. She then smiled at him.

"Hello, you must be Sir Luke that Ms. Tina talked about."

Luke didn't answer and just looked closely at the girl's face.

Red hair and black eyes.

Red hair is common for witches to have, but eye colors are not. And since Bell is one of the main characters, his design and features must be unique. But this girl is like an exact copy of Bell, but just female.

'Could this be...?'

Thud!

"Bell! Are you okay?!"

The girl in the wheelchair flinched at the word 'Bell' and then looked at the rest of Luke's companions. She then saw him...

The girl's eyes widened as she put her trembling hands to her mouth. Tears started to form in her eyes.

Meanwhile, Bell looked at the shivering girl in a wheelchair with wide eyes. He doesn't know what to feel. Sad, angry, surprised, or despair.

He saw it with his own two eyes, his sister being skewered to death, but now he saw her like this, alive and breathing.

He didn't want to believe it. He doesn't want to have false hopes.

But then, his whole body felt chills when he heard the girl saying his name.

"Bell... Is that you? You're alive?"

Bell clenched his fists and tears started to fall from his face. He then spoke back with a cracked voice.

"I-i... I am alive... Sister Jean... "

Jean froze in her wheelchair. She felt like the whole world had just turned into slow motion.

The sight in front of her. Her brother, who she thought was caught and died, was now standing in front of her, staring at her with tears on his face.

She didn't want to see her little brother cry, so she immediately moved her wheelchair as fast as she could towards Bell and immediately embraced him in her arms.

At her touch, that is when Bell knew that she wasn't an illusion, she was real, she was alive.

Bell slowly hugged her sister back while sniffling and the whimpering noises of the two reunited siblings filled the room.

Lucy looked at this with shock, while Liam and Luke just looked at it while sighing. Liam was smiling happily, he was happy for them, while Luke just looked at this with his usual blank face.

This was truly a touching scene. But Luke got questions.

'How was she still alive?'

According to Bell's story, it was said that his sister was skewered to death. No matter how lucky you are, you can not survive being skewered and having massive blood loss.

Luke wanted to ask, but he let the two siblings have their moment for a while. But of course, he was also reminded that they only had 5 hours left till the meeting. Since they wasted two hours getting here, they only had 3 hours left.

After Bell and Jean were done, they each wiped their own tears and snot and then looked at the others who were patiently waiting for them.

"....Sorry to keep you all waiting."

Liam smiled and peeked at Luke, whose face was blank as ever. He then spoke to the siblings, who were looking at the blank face of Luke with an embarrassed face. They must've thought that Luke thought of their reunion as a bother and had to wait, so Liam wanted to clear their thoughts.

"Ah, don't mind Brother Luke over here. He just doesn't often show his feelings too much, so he looks like this. But I bet he's extremely happy for you guys."

Luke glanced at Liam weirdly. Liam noticed his gaze and just smiled at him.

Meanwhile, Lucy, who had lost track of the conversation, just looked at this with a blank face. She couldn't follow the conversation, so she got to pull out the conversation all of them could talk about.

"Uh... We should go and hide. Guards might be on patrol right now, so..."

Jean clapped her hands in realization and immediately moved her chair forward.

"Hurry, hurry! Guards might catch us."

The others then nodded and followed the wheelchair. While Luke was following the wheelchair, he could feel Nash tapping on his shoulder.

•Dad! I've taken care of the guards! Don't worry! I didn't kill them as you said to me! I just knocked them out!

Luke nodded and continued to walk. Earlier, when he left Liam and Bell behind, he secretly ordered Nash to knock out the guards near them so that they could move much more freely. He knew that they would somehow take some time to get to their destination, so he ordered Nash in order to not deal with them himself.

After walking for a few minutes, they reached a hidden ladder in the darkest part of the tower that led towards the ceiling.

Lucy then pulled out a small bottle of potion from her sleeves and rubbed the liquid around Jean's wheelchair. After rubbing, the wheelchair started to emit black smoke and started to float upwards towards the hole in the ceiling.

Luke, Liam, and Bell looked at the floating wheelchair with fascinated expressions. They then stopped looking when they saw Lucy starting to climb after the wheelchair.

"Hurry up, we don't want to be caught."

Luke and the others nodded and started to climb. After climbing, they are now in a room that seems to be like an attic. His attention then shifted to Jean, who started to speak.

"This is where I hide from the guards. Lucy is also taking care of me."

Luke looked around and saw how poor the walls and furniture were made. They looked like they were made in a rush.

Bell also saw the condition of the room and clenched his fists. He then heard his sister speaking warmly to them.

"Pardon the mess and please take a seat."

Luke nodded and was about to sit on the wooden chair beside him, but he then stopped when he felt the chair squeaking. The chair is old and it looked like it was about to collapse if someone sat on it.

Luke squinted his eyes while looking at the chair. He then sighed.

"No need, we won't stay here for long anyway."

"Ah, is that so?"

"Yes, now then, let's get into business."
