Chapter 91: Ocean(2)
Liam and the others flew forward while following the mermaid that was guiding them. While following the mermaid, Liam worriedly looked back towards where they had just come from. Spencer, who was next to him, noticed this and sighed.
"Don't worry, that bastard will be fine. He's accompanied by Nash. "
Even though Spencer was consoling him, Liam couldn't help but worry. He then suddenly remembered the times when Luke coughed up blood, even with Nash beside him. Liam couldn't help but worry.
'I bet that brother is going to do something again... Should I go back?'
Liam contemplated for a while before keeping up his pace forward.
'No, brother Luke delegated a task to me. I need to finish it as soon as possible and get back to him.'
Luke then picked up the pace even more. The group noticed this and also sped up. The mermaid who was guiding them also picked up the pace. They eventually arrived at Plankton and Erdene's location. They then saw Erdene shooting out large wooden spears and vines to wreck the ships one by one while Plankton was destroying the ships with his tentacles. But there was something, no, someone, preventing them from destroying the ships.
"How foolish. Is this all you've got? And you call yourselves a Spirit and a Kraken?"
A man with long red hair looked at Erdene and Plankton arrogantly. There are red barriers all around each ship. And it seems that the barrier was quite strong. Erdene frowned deeply.
"Damn it... Be careful what you say, you damn punk."
"Hoho... I'm so scared~"
Erdene's face darkened while looking at the arrogant piece of shit in front of him. He then started to lose it.
"I'll shred you to pieces, you fucking brat."
Erdene then launched a full-fledged charge. He then created a massive spear made of tree branches and charged it forward.
BOOM!
A loud explosion and huge gusts of wind are created by the impact. The group and the merfolk around them all shut their eyes against the blinding light and the strong winds. When things calmed down, they then looked up and saw a hole that could fit two people in. They were about to celebrate but stopped when the hole was suddenly repaired once more. They then saw the red-haired man's body shot forward. He seemed to be coughing up blood.
"Ugh! A-as expected of a Spirit... Your power is really unfathomable... But, mind you... As long as I am alive! This barrier won't break!"
Erdene just stared at the red-haired man who was coughing up blood with a blank stare. He then shot a question at him.
"Is that why the barrier is eating up your life force?"
"H-huh?"
"Your barrier is eating away your life force to keep itself steady, you know?"
The man's eyes shook. He didn't appear to be aware of it. Erdene sighed.
"That is why I don't take you morons seriously. You're all idiots."
The man then looked at Erdene with shaking eyes. It's fear.
"Y-you're lying... I am not going to die... I-i... They said that I would be powerful! You are lying!"
"Whatever you want to believe."
Erdene then proceeds to shoot spears towards the barrier. Liam and the others thought that this was their chance and charged forward. The man looked at them with surprise.
"You! Who are you people?! Why are you wearing our robes?!"
The group didn't answer and started to attack the barrier. The Sujin siblings all created sharp mana arrows continuously. Selena covered her fists with gold holy power and started pounding on top of the barrier. Lina began stabbing the barrier with her mana-covered daggers. And Liam charged forward with his fiery aura and started to slash at the barrier. His attack appears to be quite effective, as the barrier receives damage and the man coughs up more blood with each hit.
"Cough! Cough!"
The man then plopped down on the ground. He was running out of breath. He then looked down at the floor, which was splattered with his blood. He then thought.
'Am I going to die? This... This is not possible!'
The man gritted his teeth and glared at Liam, who kept on slashing the barrier.
"You! How dare you!"
Even with him shouting, Liam didn't flinch or bat an eyelid at his call. He just kept on slashing with one thing in mind.
'I must hurry and go back.'
Liam then put all of his strength into one final swing. He then swung his sword down with terrifying speed and strength.
BOOM!
A large explosion rings throughout the ocean. The mermaids then covered their ears and closed their eyes. When things had calmed down, they then saw Liam and the others already inside the barrier, pointing their weapons at the man who was kneeling there. The barrier was now gone and the crew of the ship had started to panic. The mermaids then saw this chance and leaped towards the deck and started to cause chaos.
"Aaaahh!!!"
"Ack!"
While the mermaids were slaughtering people in the background, Liam didn't care and just looked at the man in front of him with a cold face.
"It's over now. Give up."
The man didn't answer and just stared at the floor with a blank stare. Liam first thought that the man was so shocked that he could not move, but he then realized something.
"He's dead."
The group then lowered their weapons and looked at the man, who was lifelessly kneeling while staring at the floor. He really died. Liam stared at the man for a while before sheathing his sword again. Now that their job here is done, all they need to do is to destroy these ships and the crew members and also purify the withered souls. Spencer then raised his voice.
"We'll go and find the withered souls with Selena while the rest of you finish the job here."
Liam and Lina nodded and the Sujin siblings and Selena left. Liam and Lina then turned their heads towards the remaining ships beside them. Lina then speaks with a smirk on her face.
"Why don't we go and wrap this up?"
Liam nodded, and they both charged forward, weapons drawn, towards the ships. They then started slashing their way through the hordes of people from the Dark Eye. Erdene and Plankton also helped and started to destroy ships one by one. Screams of people could be heard echoing throughout the ocean, but it wasn't on Liam's side, it was the Dark Eye's.
