Chapter 53: Dam(1)

Luke's body shot forward and the king stopped moving. Lance immediately supported him and looked at him with worry. Liam then approached Luke, whose body was trembling, and asked with worry.

"Brother Luke! Are you all right?!! Brother? Brother!!"

Luke didn't answer and his body kept shaking. Lance looked at Luke with worry but flinched when he saw Luke secretly glancing at him. His face looked fine and there were no signs of pain. Lance immediately understood and embraced Luke's shaking body. He then looked in shock at the king, who was still in his position.

"Father! I think that my little brother needs some rest. He seemed to be unwell."

"I-is that so? Prepare him a room! Quickly!"

The palace maids immediately nodded and rushed inside the palace. Liam carried Luke on his back and followed the maids. The rest also followed him with worried eyes. The citizens and nobles all looked at Luke's back being carried as he slowly entered the castle.

They then entered a lavish room and placed Luke on the bed. They then all flinched, except for Lance, who was crossing his arms when Luke's body suddenly turned to normal. Luke then sat up on the bed with a blank face and looked at them. He then sighed in relief.

"Whew, that was close."

Lance then butted in with a frowning face.

"You bastard, if you didn't want to deal with the king, you could've just told me so. Not suddenly pretending to be sick that made almost everyone worry."

Luke's eyes shined brightly and he asked the crown prince.

"Really? You'll do that?"

"Why are you so surprised?"

Luke smiled brightly and Lance just sighed.

"Fine, I'll give you your money later. So stop looking at me like that."

"As expected, the future sun and glory of our kingdom understood this lowly noble's heart."

"Can you please stop that?"

Luke chuckled and lied back on his bed with a tired face. He felt tired and drained. Julius then asked nervously.

"Are you okay? You look so pale."

"I'm fine, I'm just tired."

Luke ignored the worried stares of his group and looked at Lance, who was also looking at him.

"Your highness, I expect you to at least stop the rumors about me, right? And can you put the spotlight on Liam, Lina, and Julius? They all deserved it."

Liam, Lina, and Julius then immediately protested, but they stopped when they heard Lance's voice.

"Alright."

"Your highness!"

"Hey! He deserved to be in the spotlight the most!"

"Brother needs recognition!"

They then all stopped when they heard Luke's voice.

"I don't need it. As long as I am still alive, that's all that matters."

Noah frowned, then sighed and walked out of the room without saying anything.

"Really, you are so hard to understand."

Noah then walked out of the room. Luke just frowned and closed his eyes. Because of that, he didn't notice the unexplainable expression of his group while looking at his pale and bloodied face.

"Your highness, you are truly the sun that shines on the whole continent, no, on the whole world! Your generosity and greatness are truly extraordinary. I-"

"Shut up! Just say you are happy with the money and don't speak any more bullshit."

Luke happily put the golden card in his pocket. It is the infamous golden card that is only available to royalty. It has access to the royal treasury or even the personal treasure vault of a royal family member. What Luke had just received was Lance's card that had access to his treasure vault.

After a while of inner celebration, Luke then asked Lance, who was sitting beside his bed.

"Your highness, don't two people sharing the same card to a treasure vault mean that they are either a family or a couple?"

The cards here act like an ATM debit card that has access to someone's money. In this world, people don't share the same card unless they are children who still haven't debuted yet and need their parents' assistance, or a couple, like Finesse and Noah. Luke was wondering why Lance gave him a card instead of solid money, but his thoughts were interrupted when he heard Lance answering him.

"Yeah? So what?"

Luke blinked for a moment before slowly putting the card in his pocket.

"Nothing..."

Lance rolled his eyes and sighed.

"I managed to calm down the rumors about you a little. And let Liam, Lina, and Julius's popularity skyrocket within the kingdom."

"Really? That is good then."

Lance looked at Luke in disbelief and sighed.

"Father wanted to award you in front of all the people so that the mood would brighten a little."

"I decline. Make Liam and the others receive it instead. "

"But they declined too."

"Excuse me? They what?"

"I said they also declined the award."

"Why?"

"They-Haaa, you figure it out yourself."

Lance ignored Luke's clueless face and then stood up and walked towards the door.

"Fine, I'll persuade my father about this matter. And also, I'll handle that mage from the Dark Eye. So you rest, and stay here."

Luke nodded like an obedient child.

"Do your best, big brother."

"Ha!"

Lance scoffed and then walked out of the room. Luke looked at the closed door and caressed Nash's invisible fur on his lap. Nash is currently sleeping. Luke then looked outside the window. He could see the capital outside. It's been a week since the incident with the Dark Eye and it's also been a week since he was confined here in this room. Luke frowned when he heard his group's whining whenever he said he would go out.

There is Liam, Lina, and Julius.

'Brother! Rest more!'

'Stay in that bed! Otherwise, I'll force you to sleep!'

'Brother, please listen to us just once.'

There is also Lance and Noah.

'Oh no, my little brother still can't get up. I'll be sad if you forcefully move your body. And, it would be bad if you made the people of the kingdom worry more about you, right?'

'Lay down, or else I'll kill you.'

And finally, Nash.

'Don't you dare stand up! I'll destroy the world if you do!'

Luke sighed and put Nash off his lap and then on the bed. He then stood up and opened the windows. The breeze brushed up against his face. Luke blankly stared at the scenery outside the window. His attention was then caught when he heard something beeping.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Nash woke up to the noise and instinctively connected the call, while Luke approached it and grabbed it. The screen then appeared and a face of a tanned man with light brown hair and eyes and wearing royal clothes was looking at him.

· Greetings, young Master Luke Viscellete.

Luke looked blankly at the man in front of him. He couldn't believe his eyes. He never expected that this man would approach him first.

Luke straightened his back and smiled at the man on the screen.

"Greetings to you too, Your Majesty, King Jasper Quinn of the Kingdom of Flor."

The Flor kingdom is located in the far east of the western continent and is known for its abundant crops and fruits, as well as being the home of natural-born warriors due to its rough terrain and deep mountains. The Flor kingdom is regarded as the richest kingdom due to its abundant crops and popular spices, which they trade with other kingdoms across the continent.

King Jasper stopped moving and looked at Luke with a serious gaze.

· It seems that I don't need to introduce myself at all.

"Yes, indeed, your majesty. Who does not know the infamous King of Flor?"

'You need me for something, do you?'

Luke secretly analyzed Jasper. In the novel, Jasper is described as the prideful and mighty ruler of his kingdom. He does not bow to anyone so easily. He does not ask for any favors too and can handle all the problems on his own without help, making his kingdom the most independent kingdom on the continent.

But there is a problem currently in his kingdom that he can not solve without help. That issue was the Flor Kingdom's largest dam in the world, Holly's Dam is overflowing uncontrollably, which made the kingdom currently dealing with a flood.

The king will be stubborn at first and will try to solve the problem on his own, but he then got desperate when none of his methods worked and ended up asking for the Brom Kingdom's help. The Brom Kingdom managed to solve the problem and the Flor Kingdom ended up being the major food and supply supporter for the three kingdoms when the war happened. And Luke can't let that happen. It will just make everything worse for him and his peaceful life.

Luke planned to approach Jasper first and offer help, but it seemed that he didn't need to do that anymore since the king had personally approached him.

· I need you and your team's help. I have heard that you guys are quite dependable fellows who solve the Reece Kingdom's problems. And I need you to help me.

Luke suppressed his smirk and smiled brightly at Jasper, who was looking at him seriously.

"Of course, we can help you! We will be on our way! Let's talk about it when we get there."

Jasper nodded but stopped and looked at Luke seriously.

· Don't tell about this conversation we had to anybody, understand?

"Of course, I deeply understand."

Jasper frowned at Luke's aloof face but ended the call anyways. Luke then smiled at the device in his hand and sighed.

"I suppose things are going well for me, huh?"

"Luke?"

Luke turned his head and saw Nash rubbing his eyes. Luke then spoke to Nash.

"We need to go."

"Go? Where?"

Luke looked back at the scenery outside the window and answered.

"To a kingdom that direly needs our help."

"Huh?"

Luke ignored him and put his palm in front of Nash.

"I know you have my coat. I asked you to bring it yesterday."

"Here."

A black coat appears in the air and Luke wears it. He then went straight out of the room. When he opened the door, he noticed the maids flinching at his presence. Luke put his index finger in front of his mouth to signal them not to tell this to anybody. The maids slowly nodded in return and Luke continued to walk. He then felt Nash riding on his shoulder, but he didn't care and walked out of the palace. He then saw the guards stop talking to each other when they saw him. Luke just glanced at them and the knights immediately bowed to him. Luke frowned at the warm treatment the palace was giving him but chose to ignore it.

"Brother? What are you doing outside?"

Luke then saw Liam looking at him in shock. Luke just passed by him and spoke.

"Let's go, we need to go."

"H-huh? Where?"

"Flor Kingdom."

"Excuse me? Why do we need to go there?"

Luke didn't respond because he was lost in thought. He is currently making plans for what he needs to do. He needs to be serious about this since a cheat power is on the line.

'The power to control lightning. I want that power, and I'll get it.'

Luke will not just blindly accept a request for no reason at all. Aside from making the Flor kingdom side with Reece, he also wants the power that can control lightning that is hidden deep within Flor. The king is essentially granting him free rein to seize that power peacefully, which is ideal.

Luke was so into his deep thoughts that he didn't even notice the people staring at him as he walked with Liam following behind him. Luke suddenly stopped walking, which caused Liam to stop walking too. Luke turned around and looked at Liam.

"Liam, call the others. We'll go back to the castle."

Liam nodded and called Lina and Julius over. After a few minutes, Lina and Julius arrived while scanning Luke from head to toe. They then asked Luke.

"Are you okay now?"

"Are you no longer hurt?"

Luke nodded and went to some dark alley with his group. He then spoke to Nash.

"Teleport."

· Alright! Let's go home!

A teleportation circle appeared below the group's feet and shined brightly. Luke just let the teleportation circle transport him and let the light cover his vision entirely. After a while, the light slowly faded and the sight of clouds and a white castle could be seen in front of Luke. He then saw the children rushing towards him.

"Brother!"

"Brother Luke?! Are you okay?!"

"We heard what happened!"

"Uwaaaaaah!"

The kids rushed over and hugged Luke's legs. Luke just patted them and saw Spencer and Selena walking towards him. Spencer and Selena then spoke with annoyed and frustrated faces.

"So, you sacrificed yourself again huh? I should've known that something like that would happen."

"Really, we just let you off our vision for a while, and then we just heard you became the hero of the kingdom!"

Luke frowned.

"I got no choice, okay? I had no idea there would be an attack there."

Luke sighed and spoke again. He has no time to deal with this.

"Spencer, you'll accompany me to the Flor kingdom. Lina, Julius, you both stay here. I'm sure you're all tired."

"Hey! What about me?"

Luke looked at Selena, who was pointing at herself. Luke then answered.

"You stay here and take care of the kids."

Selena squinted her eyes and frowned at Luke. Luke just ignored her and then heard Spencer asking him a question.

"What are we going to do at the Flor Kingdom?"

Luke stopped for a moment before slowly answering.

"...Sightseeing."

"Lies."

Luke avoided Spencer's glare and just sighed.

'If I tell you guys that I'm going to save Flor kingdom from a flood. You will all beg to go with me. I need less baggage as possible.'

Luke ignored his group's stares and turned to face Liam and Spencer, who was staring at him intently.

"Let's go."

"Wait, already?"

"Yeah."

Luke then talked to Nash, who was sitting on his shoulder.

"Teleport us outside the Forest of Death."

"Okay!"

Light covered the three of them and they immediately teleported in front of the large stone wall of the Forest of Death. He then spoke to Spencer and Liam, who were behind him.

"Let's go."
