Chapter 142: Valley of War(5)

When a loud shout that caused the ground to slightly shake echoed through the entire valley, the werewolves, Regle Alliance, Reece soldiers, and Ash all flinched and looked up at the mountains. When Ash looked down, he noticed rocks and pebbles moving up and down and the ground vibrating violently. Something is coming... And it's a lot.

At this thought, Ash clenched his fists and was about to yell, but Spencer dashed towards him and mana-gagged his mouth. Spencer smirked at Ash as Ash looked at him with annoyance. All he could do now was wait and see what happened next...

The trees on the mountains began to tremble, and dust clouds began to form, moving from the top to the valley where they were. The wolves squinted their eyes and twitched their ears to sharpen their perceptions, and it didn't take long for them to notice something strange... they saw something white.

"White Rocks? White rocks are falling? "

"No... The rocks are moving..."

"Those aren't rocks..."

The werewolves' eyes widened and they were about to flee, but it was too late. The so-called 'white rocks' have already descended and are threatening them with their white fangs. After that, the valley was soon overrun by a massive and terrifying-looking bone monster, which shocked everyone on both sides of the valley except Luke. The valley was soon filled with a cacophony of loud voices from both enemies and allies.

The Reece soldiers retreating behind the mages all looked at this with wide, shocked eyes. When they saw their fellow soldiers riding the white bone monsters, their jaws dropped even further. When they saw a giant winged bone monster flying towards them, the soldiers exclaimed even louder and took a step back. It's approaching them at breakneck speed, and it's heading straight for Luke.

The winged monster then comes to a stop and gently lands behind Luke, causing a strong gush of wind and sand to fly in all directions. Luke sighed and stared blankly at the winged monster behind him after the flying sands and winds died down. He then looked up to see Jay smiling at him from atop the winged monster, holding the vines that functioned as reins. Jay then asked him in a hopeful tone.

"Did I execute the operation well?"

Luke simply nodded and sighed. For some reason, this short response made Jay extremely happy, but Luke ignored it and ordered Jay.

"Don't kill the werewolves, Jay; just capture them."

Jay comes to a halt and thinks for a moment.

"I can do that, but..."

Jay then turned to face the Reece soldiers who were riding his bone monsters and violently attacking the werewolves and other enemy soldiers in the valley. They appear to be frenzied and focused on annihilating their enemies. Jay then laughed nervously as he observed this.

"I don't think the soldiers will let the Regle Alliance slip easily..."

Luke simply scratched his head and sighed. Luke then raised his head and his face turned serious. He looks up at Liam, who is still fighting the Ash clones in the air. It appears that Ash has a ridiculously large amount of mana to be able to create clones like that nonstop while fighting Spencer. This caused Luke to frown.

"Jay, please assist Spencer in defeating Ash."

"Got it."

Jay quickly took the reins and flew across the valley to where Spencer and Ash were fighting. Luke then drew his sword and activated his aura. He becomes suspicious of something that makes him extremely uneasy.

"I have a question for you, Nash."

• What is it, Dad?

"Do you perhaps... Sense another powerful enemy here?

•.....

"Nash?

• I'm sorry, dad, but that's what I'm working on right now. Something is wrong in here, but I'm not sure what it is.

Luke then clenches his grip on his sword. So it's not just him, but Nash seems to sense something is wrong here as well. Luke then sighed and flew over to Liam to assist him with the clones.

------------

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Ash took more steps back, avoiding the green mana spears that Spencer was shooting at him relentlessly. Ash frowned and looked at Spencer, who was calmly adjusting his glasses and staring at him as if he were pathetic. That look irritated Ash so much that he decided to fight back by conjuring up a slew of blazing orbs and shooting them at Spencer.

Spencer raised his hands and created a thick green barrier around himself, blocking every orb that Ash sent at him as he looked at the numerous orbs attacking him all at once. When Ash dashed towards his blind spot and slapped his barrier, Spencer flinched.

Normally, this would have had no effect, but because Spencer and Ash are nearly equal in terms of how much mana they can handle, the barrier blew away like ashes in the wind from Ash's slap, causing Spencer to be alarmed and take a step back. Ash smirked as he noticed his alert movements.

"Do you see the distinction between us now? We are not the same just because we are both Archmages. I'm a lot stronger than you."

Spencer simply remained silent while adjusting his glasses. He then simply sighed.

"The only difference I see is that you talk a lot more than I do."

Ash frowned at Spencer's arrogance. Ash then conjured up a slew of magical spells in the air and directed them at Spencer.

"Let's shut your mouth up."

Ash then activated the magic spells and fired them at Spencer. Spencer simply looked at it calmly and began to run in random directions to avoid it. Now that he knows Ash can easily slap such a thick barrier as before, erecting another one will be pointless. In fact, Ash appears to be expecting Spencer to do it again, as he is running behind the spells that are chasing him. Spencer only twitched his lips.

'This jerk must have thought I was stupid.'

Spencer simply brushed his hands across his face and continued to run. He kept running but came to a halt when he heard a loud noise behind him. Spencer then turns around to see a large monster bone colliding with Ash and the spells that had been chasing him earlier. Spencer looked at the bone monster's head and saw Ash's body laying on the ground after being hit by the monster.

Spencer looked at this for a few seconds, puzzled, before hearing an unfamiliar voice on the bone monster. Spencer turned around to see an orange-haired man staring at him.

"Are you the 22nd Archmage, Spencer?"

Spencer frowned as he examined the stranger.

"Who are you?"

"I'm new to the black coat hero's group. My name is Jay the Necromancer. It's great to see one of my seniors."

Spencer raised his brows and gave Jay a strange look.

"A necromancer? Since when did he have you? "

The 'he' that Spencer was referring to was obviously Luke. While he was busy lecturing the mages in the magic tower, he hadn't heard anything about a necromancer from his siblings. Actually, he shouldn't be surprised because Luke attracts strange people all the time, but a necromancer? Seriously?

"I joined right after the debate with the evil nobles was over."

"... I see."

Spencer simply sighed and shook his head. He shouldn't have expected Luke to introduce Jay to anyone because that's just who he is. He is always too lazy to do even the most basic things, such as introducing new members, leaving the members speechless once Luke reveals them.

"Senior, I heard you're one of the group's oldest members. Could you tell me about Commander Luke's adventures after all of this is over?"

Spencer looked at Jay as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing. What does he think of this war? A field trip? And what did he say? Senior? What is this, a school? This new guy is so formal and respectful that it irritates him.

"First and foremost, you must concentrate on the war we are currently engaged in. This is not some happy trip to the flower fields. Second, don't call me senior; instead, call me Spencer."

Spencer looked at Jay's surprised expression. Spencer's brow furrowed; had he said something wrong? He is fairly certain that everything he has just said is logical. Or maybe he's too direct for Jay, and Jay can't handle it?

All of those thoughts were shattered when he heard Jay mumble loudly.

"F-for the oldest member to grant me the honor of addressing him by his given name... This is amazing!!!"

Spencer looked at Jay as if he were a weirdo. When Spencer heard a loud groan, he turned his attention to Ash, who was conscious again and slowly standing up while holding his head. Jay refocused his attention and moved his bone monster away from Ash, but he remained vigilant. Meanwhile, Spencer prepared a magic spell while keeping an eye on Ash's every move.

Ash stood up, frowning and holding his head. His eyes then widened and he frowned at Spencer. He appears irritated and enraged right now. Ash then turned to face Jay, who was standing on top of the bone monster that had struck him.

"A necromancer? When did that jerk manage to get a necromancer?! This is completely absurd! "

Jay frowned and scowled at Ash as if he despised him. He remembered that it was because of this guy that Luke died. When he learned that his hero had died as a result of a backhanded attack, he was filled with rage.

"For our commander, there is no such thing as ridiculous. He has the ability to reach and know anything he desires. Don't you dare address him with such a lowly name such as 'bastard' you son of a cunt."

Spencer raised his eyebrows at Jay, who could say such things with a straight face, while Ash's jaw slightly dropped. Spencer then sighed and began to cast multiple magical spells again, this time directing them at Ash, who was still standing still in his position. When Ash noticed this, he immediately created a protective barrier to shield himself from the various spells that Spencer is casting at him.

Ash bowed his head to Spencer and knelt on the ground. Spencer looked at this with a confused expression but flinched when he saw the ground immediately turn dark from where Ash was touching it, and hundreds of hands emerge from the darkness. Spencer stood there, unsure what to do because of the sudden spell, but he felt someone grab the back of his collar and his feet immediately left the ground, away from the hands.

Spencer took a brief glance at the approaching hands before looking up to see Jay concentrating on flying while holding Spencer's back collar in one hand. Spencer then examined Jay's hands closely and noticed ancient black ruins marked on his hand up inside his long sleeves.

WHOOSH!

Spencer immediately looked in the direction of the sound and noticed a black arrow coming towards them from below. Spencer frowned and immediately threw up his shield. The black arrow collided with the shield immediately, and the shield vanished in an instant due to the arrow's tremendous force. Spencer smiled nervously as he adjusted his glasses and looked at Ash, who was frowning up at them.

"Jay, pull me up."

Jay nodded and pulled Spencer on top of his bone monster. Spencer sighed and sat on the bone monster's back, staring at Ash. Spencer's eyes narrowed as he stared at Ash, trying to devise the best strategy for defeating him. Unfortunately, Ash didn't even give him a chance to think before sending black arrows in their direction.

"This scumbag..."

Spencer gritted his teeth and created multiple mana shields for each of the black arrows. The shields and spears vanished instantly as a result of the impact, and then everything vanished as well. Spencer sighed in frustration and looked off into the distance. He then noticed Liam and Luke fighting hordes of Ash clones. Spencer shook his head in disbelief.

'Ash got enough mana to fight me and Jay while making countless clones to fight Luke and Liam? Just how much mana does Ash have?! This is completely absurd! '

Spencer widened his scowl even more. He felt as if he had a headache all of a sudden. Spencer then closed his eyes and began to think as quickly as he could. He then spoke to Jay, who was busy flying the bone monster beside him, while he was thinking.

"Jay, cover me. I'm going to think."
