Chapter 131: Odd Guy(2)

Luke frowned and scratched his head. What in the world had he gotten himself into?

Liam continued to speak as Luke was complaining about everything on his mind.

"I've been there pretty much since he was born. To be honest, his parents were complete morons."

"Hmm?"

Luke cocked his head and gazed at Liam. Liam smiled as he observed this reaction.

"I got your attention now eh? You're that interested in this kid?"

Liam merely laughed while Luke glared at him.

"Anyway, when this child was born, the God of Darkness sent an angel to tell his parents that he was unique and that the God of Darkness was keeping an eye on him. They were basically commanded by the God of Darkness to look after me. Ha! What a load of nonsense! Makes me wheeze whenever I remember it."

Luke turned to face Liam, who was quietly chuckling with an odd expression. Liam then resumed his story, chuckling as if he were narrating a circus performance rather than a kid's life.

"So this kid's parents, now that they know their child is special, went completely insane and began telling everyone about it just a day after the God of Darkness' angel told them about their child. Saying that he will have a good future, that he will be a prominent character in the kingdom, that he will be the kingdom's beloved person, that he will save their family from poverty, and so on. They were so stupid that they couldn't even keep a secret hidden in their pants for a week."

Luke was deafeningly quiet as he watched Liam laugh. It's not just a simple story he's telling; it's someone's life, and he's telling it in a very... Disrespectful manner. Luke's eyes darkened as a result of this.

"Would you like to know what happened to his dumb parents?"

Luke's brows furrowed in response to his comments. However, it appears that Liam was unconcerned and continued to speak casually.

"Their neighbors became envious of their good fortune and murdered them in the dead of night. I'll tell you, it was a complete bloodbath. It's like watching four-legged beasts rip each other to shreds-"

Shiiiing!

Liam stopped talking when a sword immediately went to his neck. It was Liam, the Liam Luke was familiar with. It seems that he can't take it anymore and switched to attack himself.

Liam was so enraged and intent on chopping off his other half's head that he didn't care if he cut himself in the process. As tears began to pour from his eyes, his gaze became insane yet sorrowful. But he returned to rationality when he noticed a hand gripping the blade tightly, preventing his sword from slashing his neck.

His red teary eyes followed the bleeding hand holding the sword to the face of the person who had stopped him. His eyes then shook when he saw Luke calmly looking down at him as if he's not bothered by his bleeding hand at all.

"B-brother... Your hand..."

"Put the blade down, Liam."

"But-"

"Or else I won't let go of this blade."

Liam came to a halt and cautiously lowered his blade. Luke let out a sigh and let go of the blade. He then looked down at his palm, which had a severe cut and blood was pouring out of it nonstop, staining the carpet below. Luke then turned to face Liam, who was worried and guilty. Luke simply sighed and slid back into his seat.

"Liam, let me talk to him again."

"No, Brother, you must be healed as soon as possible."

"Let me talk to him."

Luke's stern and stony expression caused Liam to frown. Liam clenched his teeth as he glanced at the blood on Luke's palm. What has he done?

"Don't make me say it again, Liam."

Liam sighed and let his other half take over again. Liam then smirked and turned his gaze to Luke's bleeding hand.

"Well weren't you brave? Holding a blade bare-handed like that, should I call you my hero now?"

Luke didn't say anything and just locked his focus on Liam. He then spoke to him in a low voice.

"You better fix that attitude of yours."

"Ho? Or what?"

"Or else..."

Luke then puts his bleeding palm in front of Liam and looked at him as if he's looking down at him.

"I'll make you lick this since you are the reason behind this anyway."

Liam stopped moving and looked at Luke with a slightly shocked face. He then chuckled and gave Luke an amused look.

"Oh? How scary."

"I meant what I said. Now go ahead and continue."

Liam sighed and shook his head. He stopped for a second to wipe the tear off his eyes that Liam made and then started to speak again.

"Well, when this kid's parents died, I was the one who had to look after him, which was unfortunate for me. When his parents were being killed, I was the reason this kid didn't weep a single tear, and I was able to take his body to a cramped location to hide him from those bastards."

Luke remained mute as he listened to him. He wasn't in the mood to respond, so he simply listened.

"When those bastards gave up searching for the kid, the angel of the God of Darkness and I were the ones who ended up taking care of him until he is old enough to stand alone. But I think this kid barely remembers about that since I am the one who's taking over his body those whole times. When he was old enough to walk, I took advantage of the chance to lift this kid's ass and bring him to the nearest orphanage. By nearest, I mean I had to walk for four hours with his young body."

Liam frowned and massaged his temples, it seems like he really did had a hard time when he's on Liam's childish body. Luke just looked at him.

If he's going to break down Liam's story, excluding the crude way that he delivers the story, this Liam in front of him really did nothing wrong other than bad-mouthing Liam's parents. And he's partly correct about them; they went ahead of themselves and were slaughtered as a result. And now that Luke knows that this irritating man in front of him is the reason Liam is still alive and well, he begins to relax... But not enough to make him really like and accept him.

Luke sighed and brushed his bloodless palm across his face.

"What should I call you?"

"Hah? Call me Liam, of course."

"No, we can't have two Liams here. It's confusing."

"Then change this kid's name to something else so that you won't get confused."

Luke came to a halt and locked his gaze on Liam. Luke then spoke.

"Alright then from now on, your name will be Dos."

Liam flinched and stared at Luke, speechless.

"Dos? Who?"

"You, the person with whom I am currently conversing."

"Wait a minute!"

Liam-no, Dos stood up from his seat and looked at Luke who is calmly looking at him with annoyance. Despite his lethal look, Luke simply spoke to him calmly.

"Talk to you later Dos."

"What the fu- Brother! That wound needs to be dressed! Fast!"

Luke sighed and simply stared at Liam, who was panicked and heading towards the bathroom. Luke frowned as he stared down at his palm. Now that he paid close attention to his palm, his wound kind of stings now. Luke just frowned deeply, it stings and hurts so much that he deeply regretted doing a reckless action such as holding a blade with bare hands.

"Brother here!"

Liam then ran towards Luke while carrying bandages and medicines as fast as he can and then kneeled in front of Luke. With a concerned expression on his face, Liam grasped Luke's injured hand and began to gently wash it with warm water.

"I'm sorry, I was too rash. I shouldn't have done that."

"Yeah, you better be sorry you idiot."

"Huh?"

Liam raised his eyes to Luke, looking at him with a mixture of bewilderment and guilt. Luke only sighed as he looked down on him.

"You almost killed yourself in front of me. Don't you ever do that again you idiot."

"Ah..."

With trembling eyes, Liam gazed at Luke. His hand, which is gripping Luke's bleeding hand, tightens unconsciously. He then stared directly into Luke's eyes, which were looking down on him. He soon began to experience strange feelings within himself.

'Is this... the sensation of genuine concern?'

Even though Luke doesn't show it, his actions clearly tell that he cares for him. Luke's willingness to grasp the blade barehanded in order to prevent Liam from killing himself helped Liam realize that someone genuinely cared about him. No one, not even his orphanage's so-called friends and family, would do that for him. Taking the blade for him in the middle of a crisis, no one could ever do that for him... Except for Luke.

This revelation made Liam feel strangely pleased and relieved at the same time. Liam smiled softly and spoke to Luke, who was staring at him blankly.

"I swear I'm not going to do it again."

Luke only sighed and shifted his gaze to the side.

"Whatever, just clean my wound properly."

Liam stared at Luke's usual non-caring gestures and smiled brightly.

"Yes!"
