Brother-in-law

"Boss, all the civilians have safely returned" Robert said as he took a sip from his cup of tea. 

"Oh, that's good." Hira gave a short reply as he took a sip from his cup of tea.

"So boss, it seems you have become my brother-in-law now." Robert took another sip. 

"Ah yes, you know things happened and I fell in love with Rose." Hira took another sip.

"I see, I also know that Rose loves you very much boss. I hope you will keep her happy." Robert continued. 

"Yes, I will definitely keep her safe and happy." Hira's response was confident.

The both of them continued sipping their tea.

Rose and Misty who were sitting besides Hira didn't know if they should say something. This situation, it was too awkward. 

Hira looked calm, but even he felt it was really awkward getting interrogated by the brother of someone he loved. 

It turned out that Robert was a really strict person and really cared very much for his sister.

Ever since Hira realized about the kidnapping incident, he decided to save the civilians. 

But where would he find strength or army to save so many people from so many other people? So, when he got a not so good response from Grace. He switched to plan B.

The plan was simple, on day one Robert took some blood from Hira. 

Then he went to the forest, in the area where the kidnappers and the kidnapped civilians were staying. 

He arrived in the water storage area of the kidnappers, and mixed blood with some water.

And just like that, everyday just before the dawn, Robert would come to Hira's house and get about 200ml of Blood from him.

There were too many people there and our Hira could only bleed so much every day, which made it take some time before he was finally able to get all the goons and the civilians' favorability to max out for him. 

Finally, yesterday all the goons and the civilians had their favorability maxed towards Hira. And Robert gave the kidnappers Hira's command to return the civilians back to the town safely and hand themselves over to the town's authorities. Bringing an end to the civilians' misery. 

You might ask why he needed to get civilians favorability maxed towards him as well? Why bleed more, when you can get the same job done by only making the kidnappers drink his blood. 

The reason is that Hira doesn't like all the sad drama that might come to be if he did not get the civilians drink his blood. 

Think about it, if you are an innocent citizen living an innocent life, and then get yourself innocently kidnapped by not so innocent looking kidnappers, and then the not so innocent looking kidnappers beat you up from time to time and keep you hungry and then one day the same not so innocent kidnappers suddenly decide to innocently bring you back to the town, what would you do then?

Won't you jump in joy and cry "I am finally back… mama I was so scared…" with tears of happiness flowing out of your eyes? Won't you have a son who would be waiting for you to come back at the gates of the town? And won't you go slap... cough cough hug him? So, what if you are bachelor? I am only asking you to think about it!

What would happen after that? The other civilians will find out that there had been kidnappings happening in their town for a long time and many people have been kidnapped. Especially those people who still had there family members kidnapped in the earlier kidnapping incidents. 

You see most of the people who are kidnapped, are kidnapped when they are moving from one town to another. And since the towns are very far apart from each other, it is normal for people to go out and not come back for months. Also, most of the messaging happens in the form of letters in this world, so they had no way of knowing what exactly happened to their family members, and were not too worried. 

But what would happen if so many people came back and told you that they had been kidnapped on their way to the the other town and treated very poorly? What would the family members of other kidnapped civilians think? They would realize that their family members might not come back to them anymore. This might result in the town to suddenly enter into a state of fearful chaos.

That's something our Hira does not like. 

'Ignorance is bliss.'

And since he had the ability to at least save people from useless fear of kidnappers and well being of their families, he decided to do just that. It won't save their family members who had been kidnapped, but at least it will save them from useless heart attacks, and 'I am going to save my father' and dying under some beasts claws.

After getting the kidnappers ready, Robert told the townsfolk, that this was all a prank, these kidnappers were playing. They wanted to see if Hira would be able to find out about their plans, and of course Hira won.

As for whether those civilians would believe Robert's bullshit. 

Well after leaking a whole one and a half liter of blood, if they still did not believe such a caring bullshit, then Hira might as well go and suck his blood back from those people. 

After the villagers realized that it was all related to Hira and he was telling them to not worry. They all got happy and congratulated Hira for his 'victory' over the kidnapper's prank. 

Yeah, but why, I am I telling you all this behind the scene story?

Because all this time Robert was really busy, he would come back everyday take Hira's blood and run back to the forest. The blood was only useful for about 6-7 hours after it was out of Hira's body, and the distance itself took about 5 hours for Robert to travel.

After that he had to hurriedly mix the blood with water and keep tally of changes occurring to the kidnappers. 

Not to mention other things just 10 hours of running around the forest everyday was taking its toll on him. 

Luckily, Hira had provided him with vitality potions, making him able to keep up with so much hard work. 

And finally, he was able get the job well done. 

And just as he was about to visit Hira to report on the task. His sister came to him and told him that she had now become Hira's wife.

Robert didn't really know what he should do now. On the one hand he wanted to jump in joy and thank the heavens for letting his sister find such a caring husband. On the other hand, he wanted to look strict so that his brother-in-law would not think that his sister did not have a backing. 

'Haah…' he took a deep breath and met his eyes with Hira's. 

Then he stood up and bowed

"Boss, it is because of you that my sister and I have finally gained our humanity back. Otherwise, we would have ended up as just heartless killing machines and died somewhere with no one to care about us. I believe it is the greatest fortune of my sister to be able to have you as her husband and I know you will definitely keep her happy. Thank you very much."
