Season 2 chapter 1

It had been a couple of days since the last time the group had found shelter to hold up from the monsters that crept around the roads, waiting to grip their filthy teeth into the fresh meat that they craved. If they weren't driving, they were scavenging for food and fuel out of the cars that were abandoned on the roads. As for right now, Akaze was in the RV along with Dale, Glenn Shane, Andrea, and Andrew. The man was lying down next to Andrew reading as he waited for the van to stop to begin the routine he had been doing for the last couple of days.

"I missed the old place. We had water, food, and a bed. We didn't have to be on alert every second. We let loose. I miss it." Andrew muttered as he looked outside the window.

"Yes, I am quite aware of that since you have been repeating the same sentence for the last couple of days but please do tell me some more." Akaze used his favorite language and that was sarcasm itself. No matter how hard times get, sarcasm can always lift his spirits.

"Jerk," the salty boy claps back stooping low trying to get under Akaze's skin.

" That is my middle name, I have plenty more you can say to me."

Akaze stood up from the bed grabbed a chocolate bar out of his pocket and handed it to him. "Here,"

Andrew broke his gaze from outside to see what was being offered to him and wrinkles appeared on his forehead confused by his sudden actions but more confused about where Akaze found the chocolate. "Where did you get it?"

" A few stops ago, I found it in the car. Still good just warm. Eat, I could hear your stomach growling." he moved the chocolate bar closer to the boy's face and Andrew accepted it as he whispered thank you to the man. Akaze turned around heading for the front to speak with the rest of the people instead of forcing himself to read the same book he read five times ago.

"Don't you need it more than me? You are one of the people who goes out searching and protecting us. You need the energy." Andrew attempted to give back the candy bar to Akaze but the Japanese man shook his head without looking back to face him.

"it's your favorite, isn't it? You always mention how much you miss Snickers. Eat it." then he left without hearing him out.

"Look who finally decided to get up from the bed," Andrea commented on Akaze's arrival as the man just rolled his eyes at her.

"The time when you start doing work instead of running that trap of yours then talk to me." Akaze grabbed a bottle of water as he chugged it down and Shane whistled at his remark.

"Damn, he got you there blondie."

Andrea flipped both of them off with the finger as Akaze squinted his eyes at him. The man is still not over the fact that Shane is going behind Rick's back fucking his wife. The part that irks Akaze more is that Shane and Lori laugh and smile on the sheriff's face like nothing is happening behind closed doors.

( why both of them needed to be in the van? I can't stand either of them.)

Akaze proceeded to ignore the two and headed up to the front to check on Dale and Glenn. Besides Dale being overly observant, Akaze truly doesn't mind the old man. He even calls him grandpa since he has never experienced one in his life but if he did, his grandpa would probably be like old man Dale he imagined.

"What's up, brother and grandpa?" Akaze leans his back against the wall as he focuses his sights on the two and the road ahead of him.

"I'm assuming that nickname of mine is never going away," Dale responded as he playfully lifted his brow.

" Never in a million years, old man. Do you want me to drive? I don't want your arthritis to kick in."

Glenn started to laugh at Akaze's comment until Dale turned to the side to give him a look. Glenn instantly straightens his back as he coughs out loud to gain composure of himself. "Um, totally not funny, Akaze." Glenn started to look at the side to not face the older male.

"Anyway, Akaze. Thank you for the offer but I don't have arthritis. Yet."

Akaze chuckled at his statement and gave him a friendly pat on the shoulders before heading back to Andrew.

"Oh shit!" Glenn shouted.

Akaze swiftly spun around to see cars blocking the roads as the front of the RV started to smoke. "Stop the van, old man." Dale quickly pressed the brakes hard as the whole van shook causing people in the vehicle to move out of their seats. Before Akaze even had the chance to examine the smoking van, the rest of the group hurried up to the front of the van, talking amongst themselves.

" Told you guys this van won't make it. I need proper tools to fix this." Dale went into a rant as he looked closer at the problem of the van.

"You can't fix it again, Dale?" Shane pulls his shotgun closer to himself as he scans the area.

Without even batting an eye at Shane, Dale huffed out an annoyed breath, "No I can't, I need real tools, and we out in the middle of nowhere-" For some reason the old man looked behind him, and realized the mounts of abandon cars laying around waiting to be searched. "Maybe I'll take the last part back."

"Maybe we can find some here, Dale," Shane spoke out.

" We can find a whole bunch of shit here." Daryl started the search.

T-dog followed his actions and grabbed the gasoline container. " More fuel for us."

"Finally some food." Akaze heard Andrew muttered to himself and a smile slowly crept on his lips at how eager the boy was ready to work.

(Maybe I should let him search with me. He will have to learn how to scavenge anyway.)

"I don't know about this. This doesn't seem right. We are surrounded by the dead." Lori butt in the conversation.

" Do you perhaps we go to the store and shop for some food or maybe head to the car shop to ask help to fix the van?" Akaze mocks the lady with questions she already knows the answers to. Nobody didn't utter a word and started to look around as Lori just stared at the man with no other emotions besides agitated. She was done with the Japanese man's shit because the last couple of days all Akaze did was be sarcastic with her and just be an asshole and this was her final straw of putting up with his shit. The group already could feel the tension between those two and even Rick questioned Akaze about it but the only thing Akaze could say is that they are not compatible with each other. He feels just pathetic for lying in his face without telling him the truth.

As everyone parted, Lori secretly went near Akaze trying not to cause a scene with everyone around. "What is your problem?" she harshly whispered to the younger male.

Akaze shrugged his shoulders as he didn't bother to even look at her. " Oh nothing, just waiting around until you spill your beans to a certain someone." he nonchalantly said.

" If you have eyes do you think it's a perfect time to tell him." she countered back.

" There's never a perfect timing to tell the person you vow to love that you've been fucking on another's man dick. Stop acting like the victim here and you're bringing me into your problems. I lied to him and the next time he asked me what was wrong with us." Akaze finally looked down on the woman. His dark ords had gotten darker as the pale color on his skin lost color. " I will no doubt tell him everything I know," he whispered back at her as he plucked her forehead. "Now do some work and stop being a traditional housewife."

Akaze sneaks up to Andrew's side, seeing the young boy looking into the cars. "Are you finding anything you want?" the sudden voice behind Andrew's head caused the boy to jump and the man started to laugh at him. "Always be on guard. Never let your guard down even when you looking at something." the man quickly told the boy the number one rule of survival.

Andrew glared at Akaze as he went back to looking for items in the car. "I was on guard, you just caught me at a bad time when I was-"

" Excuses, brat. Stay on guard. All the time."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. I heard you."

Akaze just hummed at the boy as he followed him behind. The man observed the area as he still had his sights on Andrew. When they were a great distance away from the group Akaze decided to ask the boy a question he's been meaning to ask.

"Why don't you hang out with the rest of the kids? There was room in the car with Rick and them but you refused and stayed joined to my hip."

Andrew looked back behind them to see if no one was near as he faced back to the man. "I don't know, Sophia is too clingy. She always asks me questions about my life and wants to know my likes and dislikes."

A small smirk grew on the older male as his eyes twinkled with excitement. "Seems like little Sophia has a crush on you."

Andrew groans as he turns around away from the man. "It's annoying. People are dying all over and she's worried about liking someone. No thanks."

"Life is short. Use that youth of yours to the fullest."

" You sound old now."

Akaze swatted his head as if he saw a fly on the top, " I'm in my prime. I'm just twenty-one."

"Whatever."

"Anyway, how are you-"

"Akaze!" Rick whispered shouting at the man to get his attention. The Japanese man turned around and Rick pointed behind him at the crowd of walkers. "Under the cars."

( oh fuck my life.)

Akaze and Andrew quickly dropped down together and hid underneath the cars. Akaze placed his finger on his lips to calm down the boy and Andrew covered his mouth with his hands as he nodded his head. "It will be alright, trust me," he whispered to the boy to assure him and it did. Andrew was quiet and watchful as he saw the many legs heading his way. Akaze didn't have his katana or his knife, he was only strapped with his pistol on him.

( The best action is to stay quiet until the walkers move away but what if they don't move along and linger around or what if some idiot makes the unnecessary move that can cause everyone to be in danger? Whatever happens, I will make sure neither of us will be hurt.)

Akaze took another peak at Andrew and saw how the young boy watched every foot that passed by the car.

(He's learning fast.)
