The world seems a little brighter.

" Do you need me to drop you to where you're headed? " Alec opened his car door.

" No need , Mr. Reinster. I have my own car and I can manage just fine on my own. " Gwen declined politely. She pointed at a red convertible parked in the garage. She got into the car and started it. She drove to where Alec was standing. " You'd better get into your car and drive yourself home fast. You saw how my mom was missing you even before you left. " She drove off.

Alec watched as she drove off. She was different. Most girls literally threw their panties at him . They were like real life genies. Every wish of his was their command. They were real ass-kissers , sucking up to him was their job. But Gwen was different . She wasn't one to attach to someone emotionally that easily. She preferred to keep her heart safe than risk having it broken and Alec liked this about her . She treated him differently, she even hit him! She was special.

" This is not done Bain ! " Gwen heard a man's voice coming from Bain's cabin. They seemed to be having a heated argument so Gwen stayed outside. There were a few more mumbles before the door came flying open . A tall stormed out. He stopped and glared at Gwen . She was used to the bad blood and sudden enemies Bain acquired nearly everyday. He was very skilled at pissing people off.

" What are you looking at ? " glared back at him. He looked at the door then at Gwen before nodding his head . He smirked.

" You better tell Bain ...he made a huge mistake by crossing me . He'll regret it!" his last words sounded like a promise.He stomped away angrily.

Gwen sighed and walked through the door. Bain was at the window smoking. He smiled when he saw her. Gwen frowned.

" Damn it Bain! How many times have I told you that crap is bad for your health ? " she took the cigarette from him and threw it out the window. It hit someone's head. It was the guy Bain had just argued with. " Shoot!" Gwen cursed. The man was angry enough and now he was almost exploding with fury. Bain laughed and waved at him.

" That was a little goodbye gift! " Bain spat. He wiped a tear that escaped his eyes. " Gwenie, you really know how to put me in a good mood. "

" It's my pleasure. " Gwen sat in an armchair at the end of the room. Even though Bain was a hot headed arrogant prick who couldn't count the number of people he had shot , he knew the meaning of family. Yes, it was gang and yes the people here did unspeakable things but they were one big family.

" I'm glad Mr. Frinee's issue was sorted. " Bain sat at his desk. " Else I would have wiped out his entire family and gang to keep you safe. "

" Why do you always resort to violence?" Gwen swayed back and forth in the armchair.

"I've always told you...You landed here my mistake." Bain picked another cigarette from the pack he always kept in his pocket. " You're like an angel living with scum like us. " he lit tje cigarette and inhaled the smoke then puffed it out. Gwen looked at him disapprovingly. She didn't like the smell of cigarettes and she detested drugs. She covered her nose with her hand.

" What will i do with you." Bain chuckled and threw the cigarette out the window." Let's go. We have work to do."

" Bain, you've supplied us firearms for the last two years. Why are you hiking the prices suddenly?" Mr.Baldwin fixed his gaze at Bain.

" I've been supplying you firearms illegally...you forgot that part." Bain played with the dog at his feet." Security has been tightened and my men can't be put in danger constantly...hence the rise in price."

" I'm sorry but I will not accept this! " Mr.Baldwin was getting angry. " We've been partners for so long. Don't let this get sour."

The corners of Bain's lips curved. Gwen knew that smile well. He wore that smile when he wanted trouble . Bain fluffed the. dog's hair. " I'm not trying to make this partnership sour...infact it's you doing so. " The smile in his lips faded." I'm not changing my price.And if you don't accept it, you can look for another supplier."

" Im the mayor , Bain. If I so much as wished, I'd destroy your little organisation with a snap of my fingers! " He slammed the table.

" And incase you didn't realize , I can have your illegal businesses known in less than a second if i so much as thought about it. " Bain rose from his seat ." And it gets better. I can have your family extinct in the blink of an eye."

" Bain!! " Mr. Baldwin took out his gun. Then immediately everyone took out their weapons. It was a stand off. There was utter silence.

BBBBRRRRR!!!!!!!!. Gwen's phone rang.

"..."

BBBRRRRRR!!!!!!!. It rang again.

" Gwen answer the phone!!" Bain yelled. Gwen fumbled to get her phone with her gun free hand.

" I'll just hang up." It was Alec calling. This idiot would be the death of her! She hang up.

The mood was back on.

" Don't threaten me , Bain." Baldwin was sweating." I've worked hard for this position and I won't let you ruin it for-"

BBBRRRRRR!!!!!!!Gwen's phone....again.

" Just answer the stupid phone call already! " Everyone was pissed.

" Ok !!" Gwen tiptoed to a corner. All eyes were on her and it was dead silent.Even her footsteps were loud. This was awkward. "You guys can keep talking." she smiled.

She moved further and could only hear faint voices at most.

"Why are you calling me !!!???? "Gwen was whispering but you could tell she wanted to scream.

" I just wanted to hear your voice.I missed it ." What the hell was she going to do with this guy. She knew it was horrible timing but she felt nice talking to him.

" Well you've heard it. Can I hang up now? " she kept looking back just incase the fight had started.

" No. Talk to me longer." Alec was getting on her nerves.

" This is not the ti-"

BANG!!! The first bullet was fired.Gwen hang up and ran to where the sound came from. When she got there, three of the mayor's men were down . They weren't dead ... just injured . She quickly took cover behind a pillar.She gripped her gun tight and aimed at one guy who was standing next to the mayor. She shot his hand , then his leg. He fell to the ground with a thud. Bullets were flying in the air and one stray bullet grazed Gwen's shoulder. She just bit her lip and kept shooting. It wasn't the first time she'd been shot.

The firing ceased when Bain held hid gun to the mayor's head.

"Bain, don't do anything stupid. I'll give you what you want! " Mr.Baldwin had his eyes squeezed shut.

" I told you what I wanted but you didn't agree." Bain cackled maliciously.

" I'll give you anything just don't kill me! " he begged.

" Fine, I want triple the amount. " Bain became serious.

" Fine! Fine!" he agreed. Bain always had his way at the end of the day no matter how hard it seemed.

Gwen was dead beat. She had a headache and her wound hurt. She stretched out her arms but winced when her wound opened up a little more.

" You should get that taken care of." Bain held her arm and took a closer look at her injury.

" It's nothing serious. I've had worse." she assured him.

" I'll drive you home. " Bain opened his car door. Gwen just accepted because she didn't feel like driving herself home.

Bain stopped in front of her house. Gwen noticed a black sedan outside her house. It was Alec's car. What was he doing here now ?

" Whose dope ride? " Bain eyed the car. Gwen sighed.

" A friend of mine's."
