Henry was speechless for a few moments after such a heavy confession from the commander. The man was an impenetrable wall at all times. He could be in the deepest depression of his life and no one would have any idea.
Perhaps it was what the commander preferred, but Henry found it a bit alarming having no idea what the man truly felt or thought about anything unless he voiced it himself. Just by looking at him, no information could be gleaned.
"You shouldn't have to change your preferences to find someone," Henry insisted. "You work far too hard. I think if you gave yourself time to look you would surprise yourself."
For years Henry had been envious of the way someone like the commander caught the attention of women so easily. No matter where they went in public, women always took great effort to try and catch the commander's eyes. It was he who never spared them a glance.
