Sir Trenton didn't feel right getting back on his horse while his apprentice didn't have one and he pulled on Cole's reins to follow them. In silence, they walked in the direction the rest of their group had headed.
"From the sounds of it, I think they've taken down the ogre," Trenton observed, trying to cut into the lack of conversation. It killed him to think his apprentice was silently hurting. "It will certainly make our job much easier."
As they walked along, Sir Trenton occasionally glanced at his apprentice, his heart feeling heavy at the dark look on Henry's face. Neither of them could have predicted the chain of events from before.
Henry silently agonized over the situation. He didn't understand why the death of a horse was what hit him the hardest.
