Chapter 39

The two began to walk down the path again after fixing their appearances. Gideon was glad that Kaiden looked like himself again. But for some reason, he, himself, was not. His throat felt extremely dry after they finished. It's as if he was walking in a desert for days and he got one drop of water.

He glanced at his wrist that was still being held by Kaiden as he guided him. The two of them didn't speak as they walked. They would turn a few corners here and there until Kaiden stopped. He turned to look at Gideon but upon seeing that the other person was looking at him, he immediately averted his eyes. Gideon was disoriented so this action confused him.

"step aside, I'll open the exit" Kaiden finally spoke after so long.

Gideon nodded and felt a chill when Kaiden lets go of his wrist.

'Was this pathway always chilly?'

Kaiden's hand may have been warming him up the entire time.
