I Told The Stars About Us

Jiana Achilla Chavez is the daughter of a big-time business tycoon. Her name rings ostentatiously around her high school campus and maybe even beyond its four walls. But despite having that title, she finds it hard to communicate and trust people. So when she took step on her new school grounds, her life took a lot of different (and unforeseen) series of turns- especially that it involves a certain guy who's a year ahead of her; a guy who happened to have unexpected connections with very unexpected girls.

Chapter 7: Attention

As soon as I made sure we were really alone, I started picking up my pace to catch up with him.

When I'm now a couple of meter behind him, I started to walk casually, pretending that I'm not stalking him.

Why am I doing this anyway? Because I want to prove to myself that he's not just a pretty face. There's really something about him. I just can't tell if it's a good thing or a bad thing.

I forced myself to believe that he's that because I can't accept the fact that I can't get him out of my freaking head. Even though he pissed me a while ago, I still believe that there's kindness in him.

Of course, everyone wouldn't like him and respect him like that if he's that rude and evil, right?

"No, Jiana. In this time, only a few cares about the attitude. Some will only like you for your looks and not your inner beauty. Whatever they see, that's what they will choose to believe. Girls who like him are just blinded by his handsomeness," a voice inside convinced me.

Right. People these days are just into lust. They're quickly attracted to your physical looks. That's it.

So since I want to show myself otherwise, I followed him. Maybe I'll see how he will handle and treat other people.

But I accepted defeat in this part when destiny hit me very hard.

My grip tightened at the books I'm carrying. His walking pace is slow so I tried to walk slowly behind him too, just enough to keep our distance.

We pass by so many people and some are walking with the same direction at us fastly. And because We're walking like a damn turtle, someone pushed me from behind making me put half of my weight at Lucas's back.

Domino effect.

Oh my!

I unconsciously dropped the books I was holding. And since those are thick and hardbound, I flinched as blinding pain struck my feet.

"Damn," I winced as I got to the floor to collect my books.

I was having a hard time to do so because the pain in my feet is just too hard to ignore that I have to hold it very tightly.

Now I don't care if I would lose Lucas at this point.

Well, that's what I thought because after few seconds, I saw him kneel infront of me and collected the books himself.

I am wincing and my eyes are shut but I managed to open one to watch his serious expression. He's focused on collecting my things.

I actually wanted to thank him but now I'm too preoccupied by his facial features.

His outfit fits him very well. White polo, black jeans, and a top sider. There's even a gold chain necklace hanging around his neck with a cross pendant. Plus his silver watch. Freaking effortless beauty!

"Here, Miss," she handed me the books as his orbs met mine.

I immediately closed my mouth as I'm slightly massaging my feet.

I knew it! He's a gentleman. He's kind too.

He pouted when he saw my expression. Maybe I was too flustered with his actions just now so I just looked at his firm hands and accepted my things from him. My hands are shaking as nervousness occured to me.

God dammit! What am I feeling right now? I though I hate him?!

I tried to stand up and walk a little only to trip again and stumble to the floor if I didn't held onto his shoulder.

He just stood there as I froze and was dumbfounded.

Oh my god, I just touched him!

I rapidly removed my hand away from him and stood straight, urging my weak feet to strenghten.

He creased his brow as he smiled sheepishly.

The good thoughts I built up for him slowly fell like a falling wall when he said the words In am most frightened to hear.

"Did you scattered your books and hurt yourself like that on purpose?" he asked cockily.

"I'm sorry, w-what?" I stuttered.

"You're trembling so badly. Did you do everything on purpose just to get my attention?" he said again, cockily.

My eyes widened. Not because he's right and I'm guilty but how arrogant and annoying he sounded like.

I get that I was stalking him and I'm guilty in that part but what just happened earlier wasn't part of the plan!

"Ahh," he ruffled his hair making it messier. "Don't bother answering. I think I already know what you did," he said.

He smiled. Not genuine. No humor. The kind of smile telling me that 'I'm way opposite of what you think of me'.

"Sorry, Miss, but I have no time for you and your crap," he said as he left me there, again, dumbfounded.

What the hell?!

I groaned in frustration. To much has happened today and that's because of that boy!

I walked towards my classroom like a zombie. I am in deep thoughts about what happened and how unlucky I am at that. His words are lingering in my head.

How come that he said that I did that on purpose? It's like he's telling me that I hurt myself to gain his attention.

Excuse me, I'm not that desperate towards him so he better keep his cocky side lie down.

I just wanted to prove that he's a good guy. Turns out, the tables turned. He really is a bad guy.

"Hey Jiana, heard what happened in the cafeteria a while ago," a classmate said as soon as they saw me enter.

Some are even telling me that I shouldn't have done it. They just waste their saliva in talking nonsense like that. As if they care?

They shouldn't give a damn on what I'm gonna do with my life. Seriously, they should stop protecting that angel-faced demon.

Some are even saying that tgey should let is be since it's a Chavez and Narvaez kind of thing. Really? So childish and nonsense.

I groaned in frustration. Even here, at my damn classroom, Lucas won't stop bothering me!
