I Told The Stars About Us

Jiana Achilla Chavez is the daughter of a big-time business tycoon. Her name rings ostentatiously around her high school campus and maybe even beyond its four walls. But despite having that title, she finds it hard to communicate and trust people. So when she took step on her new school grounds, her life took a lot of different (and unforeseen) series of turns- especially that it involves a certain guy who's a year ahead of her; a guy who happened to have unexpected connections with very unexpected girls.

Chapter 2: Poet

I followed the direction he told me while I am still cursing myself.

Because besides the fact that I can't get him out of my head, I even forgot to ask his name! Oh well, I might see him around.

As I arrived at the door of my classroom, I took a deep breath. I can hear the teacher's voice from behind it and I'm deeply nervous.

I closed my eyes as I knocked on the door. Adrenaline rush urged me to turn the knob just enough to open the door.

My eyes met the woman infront which I assume is the teacher. I smiled awkwardly when she gave me a genuine one.

"Goodmorning, Miss. You must be Jiana Achilla Chavez?" she asked me kindly. I can feel the stares and attention I'm gaining from my classmates and it makes me sweat badly.

I nod at her question as I apologized for being late.

"It's okay, Ms. Chavez. It's understandable since you're new here," I thanked God that she's not strict with tardiness. But still, it's against the rules.

"Find your seat now, Ms. Chavez. Feel at home," I bowed at her slightly before I turned to my classmates to find a seat.

"She's the transferee I was talking about a while ago, class. She was from DLSU and she's the daughter of Lorenzo and Antoinette Chavez. And I expect you to be nice towards her, not just because of her excellent status, but as your classmate and friend as well," my teacher, who happens to be named Mrs. Torres said.

At the mention of my parents' name, I heard some gasps and whispering from the whole class. I sighed in confusion. What's with the violent reaction?

I sat down on the vacant seat I saw beside a pretty but intimidating-looking girl. One look at her, you'll know that she has a Chinese blood because of her cute, chinky eyes. She was looking at me blankly so I smiled.

I scanned the whole room once Ms. Torres was back discussing her syllabus. I noticed some boys and even girls glance my way. Uhh, okay?

"You're the Chavez's youngest sister?" I almost flinched when the Chinese girl talked. Is she talking about my older brothers?

She maybe saw that I was surprised by her so she chuckled.

"Uhh, yes?" I answered. Why? Should I say something more?

"I'm Allanis Mei dela Vega, by the way. Sorry if I startled you." she said as she stretched her arms towards me for a hand shake.

I accepted it as I stated mine.

"I-I'm Jiana Chavez. You can call me Ji or whatever you prefer," and with that, the people near who probably heard me turned their gaze to us.

I don't want to be cocky but do they find me beautiful or my surname attracts too much attention?

As if reading my mind, Allanis answered my curious looks.

"Your brothers are quite popular here. Even if they are all already alumni's," she chuckled. Oh, really? Those monkeys? "And your family is known as one of the biggest tycoons in the country." She added.

And so I will be involved and be talked about by people like I'm some famouse person or something? Well maybe it's inevitable.

My three brothers are all playboys and heartthrobs here. But I hate popularity. Now that I sense that these people know me, I'm not liking it.

I hate being the center of attention. It's like everyone is watching your every move and either they will hate you for it of love you.

So what if my family's wealthy? They earned for it. Yes, I am proud to be a Chavez but that's not because of our social status, our power, and influence. I'm proud because they taught us to be humble and to be kind hearted. They also taught us to speak our heart and mind whenever we need to. Not because I can easily join the socialites.

And I'm not like them. I want to show everyone that I am capable of coping up with different kinds of people. From their personalities and interests and never minding the social statuses.

I cut off my thoughts when Ms. Torres spoke.

"Expect that this year's way difficult than your junior years. Treat this grade as your first year in college."

Little by little, I heard the classroom fill with groans. I think they think the same way. I smirked. I hope this will be a good year, though.

"Hmm, do you love reading books?" Allanis beside me caught my attention. Okay, she's really interesting.

"Novels, you mean?" she nodded excitedly. "Drama, suspense, action?"

She again nodded like a cute puppy.

"Nope." I answered. She made a face as I laughed.

"Whaaat?" I asked her while chuckling. Her lips are in a grim line and her expression is unreadable.

"I thought you're going to say you love reading. With all your questions?" she said disappointingly.

I laughed harder and harder and that's the only time she smiled. Damn, so hard to please, eh?

"Damn, she's so cute," I heard it from the boys at my back.

"If only she isn't a Chavez," another boy added.

At the mention of my name, I turned to them with blank expression.

They immediately looked away as the blushed profusely. I raised a brow before I turned my attention back to Allanis.

"So, are you somehow related to Gavin dela Vega?" I asked Allanis when I suddenly remembered the guy I met in my old school when it was Spring Tournament. He's one of my friends, actually.

"He's my cousin," she said. I didn't say anything in return anymore so she spoke again.

"Hmm... you don't like books, how about writing? Poems, essays, perhaps?" She asked joyfully again. Okay, I think I know now her interests based on her questions. I'm not interested but it sounds fun.

"Not either. Can you give me one?" I demanded boringly.

"Take me to the stars" she started.

"where I can almost reach planet mars.

Love me beyond galaxies

with shining eyes more than infinities."

I looked around when I  sensed some eyes looking our way. She's catching attention. Some were stunned, some were just literally staring, and some are rolling their eyes. Okay?

I didn't even realize that my jaw dropped open. She's- she's the defenition of deep. Even the guys at the back a while ago, Calvin teased her.

She's definitely a poet.

"I like you."I said with that grin.

She smiled back.

"Friends?" She asked, reaching her hands again. She's just too formal.

But otherwise, I shook it and said "certainly, Allanis."

We laughed. Finally, a good friend. I guess, this year will going to be worth it. So nice.

And Jiana met a new friend! But who do you think she’ll fall in love to? Will it be the guy who she bumped with? I hope so! Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this one! xoxo
