It was a mystery unsolved; a mystery that I, myself, couldn't even solve. Or maybe I just didn't want to since I am not that brave and prepared enough to know why.

And even if Lucas wasn't telling me his own insights, I just know he wanted to find out, to have closure, to be somehow relived—I don't know. But both of us were powerless. And the only capable one to solve this mystery was the hospital itself.

"Her baby died in her womb—though we couldn't exactly tell when. We can only say that it happened recently, since based on her last checkup, a week ago, the baby was still fine," Dr. Co stated.

Lucas breathed in a shaky breath as his grip on my hand tightened. I, on the other hand, remained speechless, still shocked from the news—after anticipating to be able to carry our baby from this day on.

A long silence prevailed as the doctor waited and remained for us.
