Allie excused herself and Evan, telling Granny that she needed to talk to him in private before pulling him outside towards the back of the house and under a tree.
It wasn't raining yet, but the sky was getting darker.
It seemed like it would rain anytime soon, but Allie couldn't wait to confront Evan. Her anger had subsided earlier, but after she saw him, all of the anger came back.
There was no point in suppressing it now that they were out of the old lady's sight. Allie didn't have to pretend.
"I didn't recall giving you permission to touch me," Evan said.
But Allie ignored him. She had been holding his wrist to pull him outside and immediately withdrew her hold once they stopped.
Despite him towering over her, she glared at him with an intensity that could kill, as if she were ready to burn him alive.
"You fooled me."
