As how it should be in the show, Kakashi sensei abruptly gave us our application for the Chunin exam and left us to deal with it on our own.
Entering the school building, we're immediately greeted by a familiar scene in the story.
"Keke, you're just a bunch of rookies attempting to do the impossible!"
In front of us, a group of randos is currently harrassing some familiar faces. Of all people, they're harrassing Rock Lee, Tenten, and the genius prodigy of Hyuga clan, Neji.
Are they going to fight? To be honest, I don't remember much of what happens in this particular part of the anime.
"Hey, you! Are you kids rookies too? You all look like one for sure," unsurprisingly, the thugs' attention also caught up to us.
"Yes, we're rookies! What about it?" the hot-headed bastard he is, Naruto immediately answers back with disrespect.
The thug's leader raised an eyebrow at him, but as soon as his eyes fell onto me, he lost interest in him and he struts towards me instead.
"I don't like that look in your eyes," he angrily said.
Huh? Wait a minute, was me pitying and feeling bad for them for being random mobs reflected in my stare?
"You lookin' down on us?"
"No, I'm not!" I hurriedly denied.
However, my words didn't seem to register in his ears, and he immediately raised up a fist to hit me. Acting on self-defense, my fist instinctively acted on its own and attempted to hit him back.
"Stop!"
Right before we threw our fists at the same time, a blurry shadow appeared out of nowhere and got between us, preventing us both from hitting each other.
"Since we're merely a bunch of rookies, don't you think it's wise just to leave us alone? You won't get anything harrassing us," Lee leered at the thug and said, all while not letting go of his fist or mine.
"Tch! There's too many applicants, so we're just thinning the numbers," wincing, the thug pulled back his hand and answers back. "Let's go! They're going to fail anyway, we're just wasting our time here," he sneakily added before leaving.
So they're really just going to leave after all that? How lame...
"What happened to the plan? We're not supposed to draw any attention," Neji reminds Lee.
"W-well..." Lee stutters, blushing while sneaking a glance at Sakura, and then surprisingly, at me.
"Eh-hem! My name is Rock Lee! Would you please tell me your name, pretty lady?" ignoring his teammates' protests, he held out a hand at me and asked me so.
"Huh? Me?"
"Yes! Please tell me your name! Then, if you please, let's go out together!" he confidently said while winking and pointing a finger at himself.
"Kah!" I groaned.
What the heck is this guy saying!?
"How lame!" I heard Sakura awkwardly mumble.
"Oi, oi! What do you think you're doing! That's my buddy right there!" Naruto interjected himself between us and pushed him away.
"Huh? If I'm not mistaken, you're Naruto Uzumaki, the troublemaker. What could possibly be your relationship with these two beautiful ladies?" doubtfully raising a brow, Lee asked.
"Kuku! These beautiful ladies are both my teammates! The pink-haired one's Sakura, and the black-haired beauty is Sasuke!" he proudly declared, but not stopping there, he also taunted, "Are you jealous? Kuku! You must be! After all, I have two pretty flowers in each arm! Kekeke! Guh!"
As expected, he decervingly received a knuckle-sandwich from Sakura for getting ahead of himself.
"That hurt!" he complained.
"Th-that's!" Lee stepped away from the shock. "Grr! I'm so jealous!" he bit his thumb and hissed.
"Kuh... Kukuku..." despite clearly being hurt, Naruto still managed to gather the strength to mock him and laugh.
Seeing that, Lee's eyes flared up in rage.
"That's it! Naruto! I challenge you to a duel! I'm going to test if you're worthy of being close to Sakura-chan and Sasuke-chan!" he angrily shouted.
