Eternal Night - Part III

Liselotte lunged at me looking to land a high kick to my right cheek, a move which I was able to cover immediately, and repel by just moving my arm a little.

After being repelled, Liselotte loses some posture, a situation I wanted to take advantage of to try to fracture her knee. However, I failed in this as she narrowly escaped my grip on her leg.

Liselotte is an experienced fighter, I remember all the times that I saw her being the centre of attention of the monsters because of her apprentice outfit.

All her near-death experiences made her a skilled fighter who can handle any enemy.

However, there is a radical difference between then and now.

-...! -. Liselotte stifles a cry of surprise.

What I did to bring her to that was to lunge at her, and with a clawing motion aimed at her abdomen, I tore a chunk out of her body with resounding ease.

She immediately moves away, not quite able to cover the bleeding resulting from that attack on my part.

Liselotte may be very good at fighting monsters, but she has never fought the natural predator of her former kind.

Vampires are this way, we have multiple ways to murder humans with the ease of simply moving our bodies.

Despite everything, Liselotte remains fragile, just like a human life.

I don't need a high level of skill to tear Liselotte's body apart.

-I didn't get to live through the vampire boom in these lands, though I'm sure it was a total disaster for humanity back then. It amazes me how they managed to survive so long.

-I didn't either. I would have fought alongside humanity back then. However, that proves my point once again, it was thanks to defeating Redhart that people's morale was maintained even when your "Vampire Lords" ruled over the land.

-What the hell is a "Vampire Lord"? I've never named anyone that way...

-Oh, so they're self-proclaimed...

-I never needed minions to function, though I suppose they're not bad at all. It's thanks to you humans that I was able to rise up as what this damn world needs.

-What do you mean? -. Liselotte asks with considerable interest.

From my shadow, I bring forth a pair of chained tonfas, chains that I twist between my arms to secure these weapons.

-By rights, the crown of Ifgraine is still under my ownership. And I am just what that nation needs to function. A true leader.

-... you hallucinate...

-I knew you'd say that. And therefore, I want to substantiate my point.

The shadow stretches far beyond my feet, binding Liselotte to the ground tightly.

I push forward, tearing up the earth beneath my feet and extending the long chains of the tonfas on either side of Liselotte, pinning them to the ground.

Thanks to the proper momentum, my knee slammed into Liselotte's abdomen with such explosive force that it destroyed everything in its path with the circumference of my knee.

This impact made Liselotte vomit blood.

I bring the chains to me again, and with that the tonfas return to my hands, with which I deliver two blunt blows to Liselotte's temples.

Liselotte's glasses were shattered, and the blood spleens in her eyes and nose were shattered by the blow alone.

-This generation of humans is a pittance, no match for what we were in our prime. If it wasn't for us still being alive, they would all have been eradicated by Lucifer.

Liselotte, whose body sways, as if about to faint, cannot answer what I say.

-Let me take the burden for you, just this once. And I will make these damned humans regain their humility, and recognise that they have been too diligent just because there is peace.

-I... I... can't...

I return the blows to her temples. She has begun to bleed from the sides of her head. And one of her eyes has popped out of its socket.

-Why can't you? Don't you understand that this is an unwinnable fight for you! I show you mercy because... in spite of everything, I don't want to kill you...

Liselotte, who is on the verge of collapse... moves her right hand to my cheek...

-This world is... too beautiful... for you to tarnish it... again...

-This world is full of hypocrites and ungrateful people, someone must punish them all.

-You don't... you can't decide that...

-Tell me when you've even managed to give me a single attack.

I chose to strike the final blow, the tonfa in my right hand pierced Liselotte's throat and the one in my left hand descended on her head, cracking her skull.

She was never that tough. She'll be fine after this, but without the power of the [Supernatural Rift] it's sure going to take her a while to regenerate.

The rain stopped.

And finally the moment I had been waiting for arrived.

My revenge is just around the corner. I drop the tonfas back into my shadow, and undo the grip I imposed on Liselotte's limbs, letting her fall to the ground, spilling the contents of her brain.

Liselotte wasn't even able to attack me. It's funny that she decided to do it this... way....

As soon as I turned around to head towards the crevice, I coughed.

A gigantic chunk of flesh came out from inside my body. Upon closer inspection, I realised that it was a part of my lung.

-Hell... seriously... you're the best...

Doing a better inspection on my body, I realised that all my organs were mush now, with what had become a soup of blood and guts inside me.

It surely happened the moment she laid her hand on my face, just with that little touch she destroyed my organs by using putrefaction on them.

Haha... Liselotte Sitri really is a fucking monster, even between the two of us.

But this is no hindrance, my regeneration has no problem with this thing. However, I could have lost if there was no limit to our abilities for this fight.

My body aches, but... I must continue...

...

In every corner of the world.

Every living thing suffered a shudder at the same time. For they would have been threatened once again with death.

Every human, monster or existence became aware of it.

Along with the blackening of the skies.

The [Beast] had emerged among men again.

And along with it, [Death] descends in horror, taking the form of a damsel carrying a lamp of black flames. With which she guides the souls in the right way.

Vampire Lords.

Hunters.

Priests.

Wizards.

All prepared in different ways for the disaster that was about to happen.

And in all the hearts of the living echoed a voice.

A cold voice. Full of thirst for revenge and hatred.

A voice that terrified those who had never faced anything of this magnitude.

"Emerge from your shadows, Emissaries of Calamity. I, your Queen, summon you."

The beasts of the night, all those who once stood under Vivian Ifgraine's wing, roared in unison.

And night reigns once more over these lands.

While the maiden who could save them all from impending disaster lies resting in the depths of death itself.
