" I wanna know what love is, I want you to show me, I wanna feel what love is...." I shout from my beats as my roommate and bestie Leah in with a million-dollar smile. You guessed right, we are already freshers and we got to be roomies. "we have been invited to a party" Leah squeals as she drops her books on her bed.

"C'mon you of all people know that I didn't come here to party, besides you know how much I hate parties" I roll my eyes bored, and go back to listening to Mariah Carey's sweet voice. Leah being the persistent person insists that we should go and that I can't live the rest of my life bored and with remorses. Regretting is one thing I promised myself not to do. She finally persuades me to go when she declares that I could borrow her strapless blue dress that I have been drooling over for weeks now.

The mixture of intoxication and sweat welcome us to this freshman's party, no sooner had we settled in than Leah is already on the floor dancing to the groove. I love music but Leah's love for dance and music surpasses mine. I settle into the couch next to me since my dance moods have not yet kicked in.

I pull out my phone to play candy crush since the couple on the other side of the couch is already making out. I roll my eyes in disgust getting bored already.

"May I join you, please? " I hoist my eyes from the phone to see a black guy holding two red cups looking at me expectantly. "sure why not," I reply half bothered till I spot his nice haircut. "Am Trevis," he says handing me one red cup. "Am Azra and sorry I don't drink, " I say. " No offense but it's only lemon water and it's harmless " he insists. I take it and we begin to chat and turns out he equally came with some friends who then ditched him for their girls or drugs and the dance floor. He was equally bored and lonely till he spotted a cute girl in a blue dress all by herself. At least his flirting is minimal and has lots of jokes. He secretly must be a meme lord somewhere on social media. We exchange numbers and promise to continue chatting as friends and he gladly agrees to my terms and conditions.

Coming to this party wasn't a bad idea after all. we even got tired of jazzing and headed to the dance floor to shake it off. We dance to three songs till I feel it's late and needs to go back to the dorms and talk to mum and Christa, I already miss my family so much since I had never parted from them. I bid goodbye to Trevis who insists that it's still too early to leave a party. Despite his lovely company, I feel I need to get out of here and see how my baby is fairing.

I find Leah with her friends from the economics class and notify her I am heading back to our room and ask her to have fun with her friends. She hands me the car keys and I leave her wondering if all is fine with me. I assure her on my way out that tonight was fun. By the time I get to our room, it's coming to 11:00 pm, and am praying hard that mum is still awake. Mum picks up on the third ring and says she's been meaning to talk to me too but wasn't sure if I wasn't busy, that alone is enough to scare me and I immediately begin to wonder what could be the problem at home. Mum assures me that all is well and that they were equally missing me a lot to which I respond by saying I think about every one of them every single day. Sadly Christa is already asleep so I don't get to hear her say "bye mama". So we chat longer with mum with her keeping me updated with the latest town gossip and asking me what am up to this site, how the course and I tell her about the party I was earlier on. I expected her to be mad but surprisingly she's annoyed that I had to leave an interesting party this early all in the name of talking to her. She's always supportive and explains to me that having a baby shouldn't stop me from enjoying and having fun at this young age. Am so glad to have a mum like this one. She asks me to continue aiming for the best and not worry about Christa cause she dotes her as if she were her last born.

I ask her to extend my greetings to dad and Allan since dad is locked up in his study probably drafting a building plan and Allan is possibly still playing video games in his room even though it's past his bedtime. Mum in her free time makes masks and donates them at St.Francis hospital where she previously worked to fill the gap, that was so thoughtful of her. I end the phone call asking her to kiss Christa goodnight for me and remind her that I love all of them so much. We almost talked for an hour and am so tired so I head to the bathroom and wash off my makeup and change into pajamas and catch some beauty sleep, I check my phone as I pull the covers to find out when Leah will be back but there are two texts from Trevis;

"Hi, I tried calling you but your number was busy.."

"Did you get to your dorm safely "

I reply with "yes, I got there safely and was talking to my mum but am now very tired and off to sleep. Goodnight." Am a block text person by the way. I text Leah that am already asleep so she should sneak in quietly. I plug in my phone, do a simple prayer before heading to dreamland. I hear my phone ding with a text but am too sleepy to even see it.
