FLASHBACK - Two more days
'June 21, 2013
I didn't feel so good these days since Ashton said that I was a mistake. But dear diary, now I feel a bit weird. I overheard Ashton's conversation with someone on the phone today. I didn't completely understand what they were talking about since I couldn't hear the entire conversation but I recorded it on my recording pen. After I came home I replayed it and listened to it carefully. Turns out...it wasn't a mistake... he knew that it was me that night. And he was perfectly sane as well. He wasn't drunk....at all... I'll explain everything once I get to know what exactly is happening...just that right now... I don't trust Ashton even a bit. I'll go to sleep now.' Kate immediately closed the diary and kept it below her pillow. She checked her hair and clothes a bit and then checked the time. It was 8 PM. She wore her running shoes and directly ran towards Susie's house. She was already out of breathe by the time she reached her house. She took a moment to catch her breathe and rang the bell. Susie's mom opened the door.
"Kate? Come inside. Did something happen? Why are you here at this time?"
"Oh...ho.....oh...Nothing Aunty I just came from my evening run...oh...ho...."
"Oh. Okay.. Come inside."
Kate went inside. Susie's mom brought her a glass of cold water. Kate thanked her and then immediately spoke.
"Aunty..actually I came here because I forgot my lucky pen here..."
"Lucky pen?"
"Yeah... actually tomorrow I'm going for a job interview..and that pen is lucky for me.. I think I left it in Susie's room."
"Oh.. Okay, you rest, I'll go get it. How did it look like?"
"No aunty, it's fine I'll get it. You don't need to worry about it." Kate then got up from the sofa and went to Susie's room. She had seen the recording pen in her room while searching for some clues but she didn't think it was anything important. She opened her drawer and saw the recording pen lying there. A packet of batteries were also lying besides it. She immediately took them as well and made her way out of the room. She then bid her goodbye' to Susie's mom and went back her home.

Laying on the bed Kate had a confused expression on her face. She had just listened to the conversation Ashton was having with someone on the call. And now Kate could understand what Susie meant by 'feeling weird'. She was feeling the same. But the only difference was, Susie knew nothing about what was happening back then, but Kate had a bit of idea now. One thing she was clear about was that Ashton was having the conversation with Mr. Rodrigues. This only meant one thing. Whatever this Mr. Rodrigues wanted from Kate had started way before Ashton had even met her. This meant..... firstly... Susie and Ashton getting intimate was a part of their plan. Since Ashton also confirmed it on the phone call by saying 'the deed is done' this could be confirmed. Secondly, Susie was involved because of Kate. They wanted to get close to Kate. But one thing she couldn't understand was, how did they know that Susie and Kate would become such close friends, since in 2013 Kate had just transferred to Syphon High from another school in a far off city. And finally, whatever this was....it involved not only Susie, Kate, Ashton or Jennifer... but an entire country as well.....though Kate wasn't sure how. By the time she had read half the diary, she started getting some illusions... a voice...a white light inside her head...calling out to her. But yet again..she couldn't make out whose face it was..... She held her head and immediately rolled on her bed. She then suddenly got up and took a strong pain killer. After few moments her head pain gradually reduced and she went back to reading her diary. It was 10 PM already....2 more hours and then....2 more days to go...
